Just heard a snippet on CNBC which indicated the iPhone 7 is not going to offer too many improvements over the current model.

I was hoping to trade in my 6s and pick up a 7plus, but if there isn't a significant improI may end up with a 6s plus.

No one knows at this point but if you are expecting the 7 to "blow your socks off" you will likely be disappointed.

It wouldn't not exist that way if Steve were alive.
Did you reach across the netherworld to ask him?

If you don't care about iPhone, I agree. But likely there will be some compelling features although one person's "blow your socks off" is another person's fall asleep in the chair.

That headline just summarizes my disappointment with this iPhone. Taking something major like the headphone jack and no major improvements.... Lol what

Apple getting predictable and boring under Cook. Little design progression, Very buggy/ugly ios/OS updates, make thinner at expense of functionality (battery, remove useful ports "1 usb c", headphone jack use inconvenient adapters instead), abandon pro users to obsolete spec, release Apple TV/Apple watch half-baked, buy now refine later, design blunder with battery case/ipad pro pencil storage, this isn't the same company. When Jobs departed the Apple we knew and love departed as well. The Apple of Today altogether different company.

People familiar with the matter said some features that Apple hopes to integrate into iPhones, such as curved screens, weren't ready for this year's models.

And if that curved screen in iPhone 2017 ends to be just a copy of Smasung's Galaxy curved screen then it is a fail. I hope to see square edges on that screen and touch buttons just like on the rumored Macbook touch panel.

What are people gonna really do with the new iPhone that releases this year that they can't do now....I'm tired of processor upgrades and a improved camera....it's too repetitive. ...no headphone jack takes the cake...worst iPhone release ever

Love this news. Making my 6s+ just more and more amazing, lol.

On a serious note, they should just skip 2016's iPhone and save everything for the 2017 one. It will not only make it more anticipated, but it could also mask the uproar of the removal of the headphone jack with those other really amazing features.

Apple has Not celebrated anniversaries for products for a long time, so this sounds pretty far fetched to me.

This is the iPhone we're talking about. They obviously won't market it as the 10th anniversary iPhone but it'll certainly get a mention during the keynote.

They could have planned this release much better, years ago OLED should have been in the pipeline...it could have been released this year with careful planning.....if they try to name this year's larger iPhone the iPhone pro...it will be hilarious

Removing the headphone jack is a "feature" now, funny.

We get that Apple is going to push wireless Beats headphones to go with the new iPhone, but it's still a stupid move.

They have to push wireless now. Sell a phone with bluetooth 4 and no headphone jack before bluetooth 5 comes out. All the suckers will buy overpriced beats headphones with bluetooth 4. When the 2017 comes out, they're going to push hard for everyone to buy the bluetooth 5 headsets because the headline feature of the 2017 phone will be bluetooth 5.

It's brilliant for a company that only cares about it's current balance sheet.

Am going too wait for the iPhone 7s or iPhone 8 if they plan on dropping the S line

Oh, now it's just a mention in the keynote? Before it sounded like this would explain no major features in this year's device. Which I still think is not logical.

Anyone considering trying android. I have a 6s and I was planning on uograding but if it's going to stay fairly similar, then I wouldn't mind trying android for a year and then switch back to iPhone in 2017. What do you think ? Any suggestions?

Have recently switched to Galaxy A5, and it is by far still enjoyable experience, have rooted my device, loaded CM and some apps, and after some playing around, i have almost the same device with similar performance.

What makes people think Apple will celebrate 10 years of the iPhone ? What did Apple do to celebrate 10 years of the iPod ? They killed off the click wheel and removed the high storage option for small storage and touch screen.

why is apple the only company that has such a hard time implementing "new" technology? Do they not have billions lying around. Curved OLED screens have been in smart phones a couple years now...

Because they are always thinking about what will benefit them the most financially and not what the customers are expecting. ..money comes before the consumer for them. It costs less to use subpar 1080p or 720p LCD screens than oled, it causes less to uses devices with less ram....everything is based on their profits...it costs less for them to still release 16 gb iPhones...it's becoming a joke

I am frankly fine with iPhone switching from 2-year to 3-year cycle. Both iPad Pro and MacBook Pro are based on 4-year old design (iPad mini and first retina MacBook Pro, respectively).

And if you look at competitors like Samsung Galaxy, most have abandoned 2-year major refresh cycle long ago.

Having said that, I am frankly disappointed that 3rd iteration of iPhone 6 may still keep the camera bulge and antenna bands.
since when? samsung seems like they redesign their phones yearly

Oh my god. You're confusing me.

It's pretty simple. No major changes this year because Apple will be making major changes next year as it's the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.

Plain and simple.

It's pretty stunning that Apple barely holds on with a design refresh every 2 years, and now they want to push it to 3??? Good luck.

If they want to make the iPhone 7 attractive, it better be waterproof and have a lot more going on under the hood. A massive battery would help.

I don't really care. All I want is the SE with the form factor of the 6/6S or something similar. Gotta hope for the spring...

Besides that, I'm all in favor of removing the headphone jack. I know, unpopular opinion.

If they make major changes only next year it will be because the technology they need isn't ready or not ready for their scale. The 10th anniversary is surely not responsible for a device with less features this year. Again, Apple hasn't done anniversaries for ages and it won't be anything more than a note in the keynote. My prediction. Take it or leave it.

First now one knows what really Apple it's going to add to the iPhone 7, these are only rumors. Can't people wait to see what happens in September stopped whining already, you don't like the iPhone anymore go ahead and get a Samsung. I will make my choice when the phone its reveal too the public. In the meantime I still loved my iPhone 6 and I think it's a great phone.
