I don't really want the 7 with it having very little better than a 6. ForceTouch. Not excited. If the "8" in 2017 will be all glass I won't want that either. Just make a thicker phone with better speakers and camera(s)!

This probably means that it won't be a great year for Apple stockholders. Next year might be better though. How is Apple going to manage to market that the missing headphone jack is a win for consumers if they do this? That the phone is even thinner? That it was necessary for it to be waterproof (which is completely false)? Will be interesting to see.

Another reason, "cannot innovate any more". Not that their competition is doing anything interesting either. So, will be interesting to see what happens to the smartphone industry over the next few years.
Well, as you implied, the problem across the board—iOS or Android, Apple, Samsung, or whoever else—is that we're now at a point where simply combining older technologies in the (once novel) form factor of a smart phone is no longer particularly compelling. The original iPhone was exactly that—a new combination of existing tech in an "iPod". Innovations are much harder won now, from a technological perspective, so companies are having to spend more time/money on R&D. The result is that we wait...

is it worth it to upgrade from a 6+?

No, since you have lived without whatever features or minute upgrades are coming the 6+ will be fine for a while.

I am on my own upgrade cycle from 4S to 6S plus to 8S superplus if they'll make it by then.

Cook has said that it will have a feature that is a must have. I'm guessing that to be waterproofing, and if it is, I will definitely upgrade from my 6s to the 7. I just hope they figure out the touch screen when wet, like the S7. Only part of my watch that is a pain. When in the shower or the pool, the screen is pretty much useless.

Looking at sales figures for the 6s, the 5s, the 4S, the 3GS...the numbers say otherwise. Each of these models outsold the model before them...you know...the one that "looked new".

Thankfully, the real market is no where near as trite and boring as you pretend.

Sorry but I'm a pro investor. The 6s sells less than the 6, the 5s sold more than the 5 because they added China Mobile and ntt docomo as carriers, as with previous generations. The first generation with the same number of major carriers in the normal and S iterations is the 6-6s, and you can see what happens, first sales decline in almost a decade. But you're clearly are a super kool aid drinker. Since the moment a competitor appeared, since the first Galaxy, they're losing more and more market share, obvious, because they started virtually with a 100% market share. All they have done is to increase territories and carriers, but that is ending now, just trying with India, but numbers are going down both in Y/Y growth and in market share. And when you can't expand geographically, you can't pretend to sell a phone that looks old, because, well, it won't sell well. That's why AAPL is worth now considerably less than in 2012.

Don't even try to argue with me about sales numbers.

i got a S7 from work and I actually like it. Its screen alone is just beautiful. Might see what the next Note come August has in store. Will still have my iPhone 6 & iPad for my iOS needs

nice phone indeed but too big for my taste, I would have a S7 edge too if smaller

So, if you go by the rumors, the ONLY reason to really upgrade to the iPhone 7 is to get the dual cameras. Which being a travel photog, is fine by me, I'll upgrade just for the camera.
A read in Facebook trending news that that wasn't going to happen either. I should have kept the article...
[doublepost=1466540244][/doublepost]I feel bad for everyone. I swear to god i mean no harm by this, but a lot of people here really like Apple. And Apple keeps dropping the ball and people are like "oh.....its okay! My iPhone 5S is doing just fine!"

While I'm with you to a point, the answer isn't taking away features people do like to replace them with something that isn't clearly better....

All S models have outsold their predecessor. You are, of course, wrong.

I want to think that you are just kidding me because if not I would have to suppose you are a "special" person, and by special I mean slow-brained.

The 6S is NOT outselling the 6.

The 6S is the first S with the same number of carriers as the non S iteration.

Previous S iterations sold more because every year they increased territories and major carriers, so they just expanded geographically, they sold more not because of a bigger % of interest in the phone, but because of a bigger consumer pool.

Sorry but if you don't understand it just go to sleep, I can't explain it better to you.

They should use that 1mm for more battery.

And I think that calling it an iPhone 7 will raise expectations far too high... they should just call it the iPhone 6s Pro and 6s Plus Pro and then go back to 7 with next year's major update.

So the main new feature of the phone will be the removal of something useful.

If iPhone 7 was to be a complete redesign then one could understand the removal of the jack. However, since iPhone 7 seems to be just another iPhone 6 this makes no sense. So, if one has high end headphones you need to get some ridiculous adapter (is that lightning adapter sticking out of your pocket or are you just happy to see me...) or buy new (expensive and small selection) headphones with lightning plug (BT won't do due to loss in audio quality). However, since lightning plug is proprietary technology you can't use it with other audio equipment without yet another adapter / adapter cable. However, without the external DAC it is very likely your new headphones will be no better than your old ones. IMHO, Apple could have pulled this off in the early days of iPhone when Android was just a glimmer in Apple's rear view mirror but now when Android phones are dominating the world smart phone market this sounds like a very stupid idea indeed.

If true, this will be the worst upgrade cycle Apple's had year over year. I have been automatically buying every new iPhone when it's released, but if the only major feature is the removal of the headphone jack, I'll wait a year. I'm sure the next iPhone is faster, but my 6s seems pretty awesome already.

I've been a die hard Apple fan since 2011 when I got my first iPhone but it's getting to the point where sadly, I'm growing bored with their products. I know it's cliche but their designs change at such a slow pace, that they've gotten stale to me. Nothing ever really feels different and exciting to me. The things they DO change, don't feel like much change at all.

For the first time since my first smart phone, I'm bored to death with iPhones. I really don't want to get a Galaxy or Android device either but, I don't really see any options. Maybe I'll just say screw it and get a flip phone again and leave the whole smart phone movement alone. I'd be just as bored with one anyway...

Lightening headphones sound better.
Thinner phones feel nicer in your hand and pocket.
Faster processors, more RAM, and LTE chips are nice.
Enhanced graphics are great.
Better pictures and video is awesome.

That is enough reasons for me to upgrade from the 6.
