Well, as you implied, the problem across the board—iOS or Android, Apple, Samsung, or whoever else—is that we're now at a point where simply combining older technologies in the (once novel) form factor of a smart phone is no longer particularly compelling. The original iPhone was exactly that—a new combination of existing tech in an "iPod". Innovations are much harder won now, from a technological perspective, so companies are having to spend more time/money on R&D. The result is that we wait...Another reason, "cannot innovate any more". Not that their competition is doing anything interesting either. So, will be interesting to see what happens to the smartphone industry over the next few years.
is it worth it to upgrade from a 6+?
Looking at sales figures for the 6s, the 5s, the 4S, the 3GS...the numbers say otherwise. Each of these models outsold the model before them...you know...the one that "looked new".
Thankfully, the real market is no where near as trite and boring as you pretend.
i got a S7 from work and I actually like it. Its screen alone is just beautiful. Might see what the next Note come August has in store. Will still have my iPhone 6 & iPad for my iOS needs
A read in Facebook trending news that that wasn't going to happen either. I should have kept the article...So, if you go by the rumors, the ONLY reason to really upgrade to the iPhone 7 is to get the dual cameras. Which being a travel photog, is fine by me, I'll upgrade just for the camera.
September 2016
My 6 has had it. My upgrade lines up with the 7 release. Just gonna do it.

All S models have outsold their predecessor. You are, of course, wrong.Sorry but I'm a pro investor. The 6s sells less than the 6, the 5s sold more than the 5 because they added China Mobile and ntt docomo as carriers, as with previous generations. The first generation with the same number of major carriers in the normal and S iterations is the 6-6s, and you can see what happens, first sales decline in almost a decade. But you're clearly are a super kool aid drinker. Since the moment a competitor appeared, since the first Galaxy, they're losing more and more market share, all they have done is to increase territories and carriers, but that is ending now, just trying with India. And when you can't expand geographically, you can't pretend to sell a phone that looks old, because, well, it won't sell well. That's why AAPL is worth now considerably less than in 2012.
Don't even try to argue with me about sales numbers.

I am totally let down by a phone that as of now doesn't exist nor has any features confirmed. What a disappointment.
So the main new feature of the phone will be the removal of something useful.
