awesome, saves me the money. at this point i dont even care about hardware specs, smartphones are "smart" and "fast" enough as it is and iOS 10 doesnt seem to introduce anything major that may slow down my iPhone 6 unless Apple does it on purpose. May sound shallow but at this point i just want an actual redesign, especially in this price category. I am not spending over 800 Euro on the same phone again. Oh well, maybe next year

They will, don't doubt it.

I must say I hope for a major update. I tend to hold onto my phones until they wear out (still using a 4S). It'll annoy me if I buy an iPhone only to have it outclassed markedly the following year by something major that could have been introduced earlier...
+1.

4s is the greatest.

People not going to upgrade because the design is the same? Really?

Apple continue to innovate on the internals. The upgrade from the 6 to 6S was HUGE by itself as I am sure this years when compared to last.

The processor alone is enough reason for me to upgrade every year. The additional features usually introduced is added benefit.

No it wasn't, I'm quite a nerd and 2Gb RAM was nice but some ram and CPU don't really make it... I bought it coming from a 6 and I thought about what a stupid waste of money it was after a couple of days.

And that my friend is why AAPL is sinking, even with all the kool aid in the world sales are going down because, well, it doesn't surprise people enough for buying it more than the year before.

LOL. Move along buddy.

On your way out, I'll just point out that the sum total of your argument is that, "If its not new and shiny enough on the outside, its not new".

Another reason, "cannot innovate any more". Not that their competition is doing anything interesting either. So, will be interesting to see what happens to the smartphone industry over the next few years.

They become a commodity.

but ...reinvented.....only thing has changed is everything...the one you’ve been waiting for...the fastest yet....the most amazing yet....thinner ....less bendy....40% less yellow screens....
etc.

Just heard a snippet on CNBC which indicated the iPhone 7 is not going to offer too many improvements over the current model.

I was hoping to trade in my 6s and pick up a 7plus, but if there isn't a significant improI may end up with a 6s plus.

Exactly, things that look old are very hard to sell as new and exciting. That's what numbers say, sorry.

Who knows at this point...it will obviously be faster, better camera, likely waterproof but that's all we know right now. However he's it will look pretty much the same

I'm due an upgrade in September but will phone EE & see if they will reduce the monthly cost (now the phone is paid for) & wait till iPhone 10 next Summer (I think apple will skip 8 & 9 nomenclature).

Ya, i would listen to "confirmed" rumors. Any suttlle difference are just icing on a cake...

I personally think if you are moving from the iPhone 6s to the iPhone 7, then it will be a huge let down. Some iPhone 6 users will probably not want to trade in either. I for one and not excited for it...Other than a true tone display, a slightly better camera, and maybe a slightly better camera, I really don't see much they can do. I see fast charging to be a thing...but at the same time, if they take away thee headphone jack, I will definitely wait. When the 2017 iPhone model comes out, it will probably be a lot better. A lot of rumors and reports are seeing talks of AMOLED display. No one really knows, but we will see and then even people like me may have a change of heart.

It's interesting how Apple essentially tells us what the new iPhone will be each year, well before it's released, in order to keep the stock from fluctuating too much when it's actually announced.

I like to have the latest and greatest, so if I can afford it, I will probably buy it. Having said that, and if the rumors are true, there is nothing that makes the new iPhone a great upgrade from an 6S/6S Plus. We will see I guess.

About the only interesting thing they can add for me is a significantly better camera (hopefully something groundbreaking like the dual/quad camera rumors). And now that developers can access RAW camera data, hopefully we can bypass Apple's terrible, over-processed noise reduction algorithms. Other than that, meh, my 6S Plus still feels new. Even my wife's 6 Plus still feels new. I'm definitely done upgrading every year and I'm probably done upgrading every other year.

Things like OLED screen, water proofing, and truly shatter-proof "glass" would be nice, but aren't enough to justify an upgrade.

Anyone considering trying android. I have a 6s and I was planning on uograding but if it's going to stay fairly similar, then I wouldn't mind trying android for a year and then switch back to iPhone in 2017. What do you think ? Any suggestions?

i got a S7 from work and I actually like it. Its screen alone is just beautiful. Might see what the next Note come August has in store. Will still have my iPhone 6 & iPad for my iOS needs

faster processor and graphics
faster lte chip
better camera
bluetooth 5 (?)
32gb base storage
else we don't know yet.

but tech specs are for android folks, apple folks just want a redesign -_-

btw: it will take so much persuasion to convince me to buy a phone without a 3.5mm jack, let's see what they'll come up with.

I'm also betting on a much improved display, like the one in the recently released 9.7" iPad Pro. DisplayMate said:

"The display on the iPad Pro 9.7 is a Truly Impressive Top Performing Display and a major upgrade to the display on the iPad Air 2. It is by far the best performing mobile LCD display that we have ever tested, and it breaks many display performance records."

As a photographer, that, and an improved camera that captures in RAW along with RAW processing capabilities in the latest Core Image api announced in the recent WWDC, would be enough for me to upgrade from my 6+.

For me, that would huge...

Lol, if you think that the tech is available that they need & can be mass produced in the volumes they need- & they're holding back "just because", you need your head examined..!!
Apple is in the business of MAKING MONEY. Something they've been quite successful at.
Guaranteed; if they're bringing out a phone that they KNOW will be low-selling & hit their profits and affect their stock- it's because they LITERALLY CANNOT come out with the phone they want to yet.
I fully expect this iteration to be a stopgap to make a few dollars & get some of the new tech up to economies of scale; it will likely adopt the two tier 32gb --->128gb jump that was introduced with the iPad Pros (a clever move, since it is a $150 premium to upgrade, not $100 per step as before- yet it is still a more attractive upgrade), get people used to the "no headphone jack", so that everything negative has been said about the iPhone 7, & and that way, when the Pro comes out- it will be to stellar reviews, etc.

This is my guess.

If you read the article, you'll see where it mentions Apple will be implementing AMOLED and a curved display to the iPhone in 2017. Other competitors have already started implementing these features in their products years ago. So just to be real here, the 10th anniversary iPhone will also be a disappointing catch up model. It doesn't matter what Tim does, he will be failing as a CEO for the next year and half, if not more (likely more) because all he's doing is copying the competition.

You're not a successful CEO just because a bunch of delusional fanatics keep buying your products. The real Apple users can see right through Tim Cook and his abilities to run the company.

Looking at sales figures for the 6s, the 5s, the 4S, the 3GS...the numbers say otherwise. Each of these models outsold the model before them...you know...the one that "looked new".

Thankfully, the real market is no where near as trite and boring as you pretend.
