$2000 for the base model. $8000 for a 2TB model. Apple finally adds SLC 2TB chips back to their iPhone lineup after so many years.
Yeah, that’s not realistic because that would be more expensive than the Vision Pro and a lot of people were disappointed in the price being so high

These “analysts” are jokers.
They either predict plausible or most likely events in the near future, or they make speculative predictions for far-off future.
If they don’t get it right it’s due to delays and revisions are made for the next refresh cycle.
Yeah, but those analysts also tend to get some of those predictions, correct especially if you review some of the leaks in the last few years. There’s only a few that maybe didn’t go through. So when they release a new iPhone this year it was not very surprising to see what was released

This just shows you how different people are. Every friend of mine who has bought a foldable says they would never go back to a slab phone. I'm included in this group of people. I wouldn't use a slab phone if you paid me. I don't know how people can surf the web, view photos, read Kindle books, check stock quotes, compose and read/reply to emails, watch videos, etc. anymore on slab phones now that foldables exist. I do realize foldables are not for everyone though.
People do all those things just like they have for many years, fine and dandy, on slab phones. If a foldable floats your boat, great! Unless they get very thin and light, I'll not be stashing one in my pocket.

Losing the telephoto lens and Face ID still might be a dealbreaker for me...but we shall see.
if it doesn't have Face ID:
apple has to be knowing that launching such a high end (highest end!) device without Face ID, resorting to Touch ID, is not so good.
this decision had to have been a huge disappointment to apple's internal development teams.
i don't mind Touch ID on my MacBook Air. and don't mind it on an iPad OS device, but on an iOS phone device, its a real disappointment. iPhone apps need a quick in-to/out-of way of authorization, unlike Mac or iPad apps where you are liable to be using that app for a longer period. banking apps these days sometimes multiple locations within the app itself to authenticate to see various types of info.
on the other hand...if there is Touch ID under the display itself, that would be cool. i only object to Touch ID if the location was limited to some button on the outer titanium bezel.
i look forward to us hearing about what kind of technical challenge they have that resulted in this.

This is exactly my experience. The Fold 7 is the only phone that tempts me away from Apple. I know people who have had the Fold since the 3 and would never go back to a regular phone. I think that if Apple can do what Samsung has done with the Fold series, they’ll have a winner.

I've met people who love their foldable. As for me, I doubt I will buy it, simply because I favor simplicity-- I'd rather have a slab of glass and metal that I just pull out of my pocket and don't want to be bothered by unfolding something...unless, they can give me a killer feature that I didn't even know I asked for.

For instance, if they market this not as a phone but as an iPad that is also a phone...that might sell me. If I could comfortably take notes/draw with an Apple Pencil on it (it likely won't be big enough for that), I'd be interested.

I use the phone as a phone.
If I want to do more, I use the iPad, or the Mac.

Simple as that.

The most interesting thing about this phone is which OS does it get?
iPadOS or iOS which split a couple of years ago.
I'd guess iOS since it needs to be a phone more than an iPad.
But then it might miss out on Apple Pencil support, multitasking windows etc if it does?

All I'm thinking is, how much will the 2TB version of this thing cost?
Idk. 🤷🏽‍♂️ around 2400 but that’s the one I’m getting && in 2027 I’m trading it in for the larger IPhone fold Max or whatever they will call it && that’s it for me on phones till 2030

240g being heavy just shows how weak most folks arms are at lifting stuff. Tbf I would not last long if I had to lift up 300g for more than just a few minutes but damn.
It's been scientifically proven that holding a weight like a heavy phone in the hand for a long period of time will cause strain to our body.
