Does anyone have an idea how long these discounts/sales will last? I’m thinking I might pull the trigger this coming Friday, but I’m worried that these offers will just randomly disappear earlier this week.

They’re not, they are reducing prices because a new version is around the corner.
I agree…that for sure. I also think that Apple can’t be selling many of these base M3 Pros at $1,999. Especially since the M3 version was more of a spec bump with arguably some downgrades thrown in as well compared to the M2 version. Apple‘s prices have gotten out of site across the board in my opinion. Look at the new iPad Pro. The base 11 inch plus keyboard case is $1,300 😱.

They’re pricing strategy seems to be launch it, gouge until they cry uncle, massive sales. I buy all of my Apple stuff a yr after launch when we’re in stage 3 of the pricing strategy (e.g., massive sales).

Oh, and yes, I bought one of these yesterday as an upgrade for my 2018 15 inch MBP.

Good deal on base m3 pro 14 inch but is 18 gb of ram enough? I know the response is what will you use the machine for but I don't think that matters the will the base levels of ram on Macs be enough for apple intelligence or enough ram in next year period.

I agree. This is a hack for people who refuse to accept that Macs are expensive.
Um. No. For people who "refuse to accept that Macs are expensive?" What does that phrase even mean?

The hack is very clever. And I have nothing against it. I have something against Apple. Because they designed the machine. For being expensive and "pro" level, Apple definitely could have engineered in the ability of users to add their own M2 storage and not rely on the SDCard interface.

Now a days for all purpose Laptop, you need 32 GB of RAM. If you are a simple content consumer, 18GB is more than sufficient instead you may go for cheaper Air or IPad Pro (No, iPad Pro are costing almost equivalent to MBP mid ranges). Apple milks its followers by pricing it in such a way that when you start looking at desirable configuration, you would have crossed $2500-$3000 range quite easily.

$1,499 is the price Apple should have charged if Tim Cook wasn't such a shamelessly greedy corporate scumbag who wants to milk customers for as much as he can.

If you want computers from a morally-ratified companies who expressly want to make as little to no money from the endeavor, here's a list of non-profits making high quality laptops for you to buy:

Once again, Apple is increasing it’s marketshare, and recent market research has surprised pundits in how large a portion of that is, in fact, MBP’s and not Airs. Of course that doesn’t mean this particular model is succesful, but if you forget the internet craze about benchmarks (that most of the actual customers don’t know about), this model is actually a decent value, compared to the rest of the lineup. M2 owners aren’t the ones upgrading anyway. No reason to believe it isn’t selling.

I would like to have lower prices on Macs as much as anyone, but as long as sales goes up, I just don’t see the argument that Apple as a company is doing the wrong thing.

Of course it matters what you use it for 😵‍💫

You can almost feel M4s around the corner.

I'm personally more excited for the M5

I really want an M4 iMac but it will be difficult to justify the price when you have sales like this for a device that has more than 2x the RAM, storage, comes with a Pro-level chip, and has a mini-LED display.

Nobody knows. Why don't you pull the trigger now? You can always cancel your order or return it unopened and get your money back.

Someone else mentioned they usually update these deals on Monday, pending stock availability.

Amazon has this deal too, so at least you have options if it's gone on BB.

MicroSD

I have an extra 1.5TB added to my mac ($130). Relatively slow storage, but works perfectly with my 1TB+ tv library.
Out of curiosity, is there any issue with sleep? I had a similar adapter in my 2012 MBA and sometimes it caused issue with sleep, but I have no idea if that happens with AS machines

I'm just continually amazed at how punters on an internet forum are convinced they know how to better price products than a company thats 10x the value its nearest competitor and generating twice the profit margin.

Yes, wait until the (according to Macrumors users) overpriced and underwhelming spec bump arrives…

1499.- sounds like a really good deal, even if an updated 1999.- one is around the corner.
Ok, you have a point. Not everyone needs to get every last bit of performance from their purchase. I will guess that the improvements will come on the GPU side along with better ray tracing for the Max. And while I would benefit from GPU improvements, I know that there are also a lot of people who will not.
Having said that, I think it is a public service for both Apple and the consumer to give people the heads up to make an informed decision to not regret a big ticket purchase when a new model is imminent.

Good for you. If it doesn’t run MacOS, I don’t care. Give it a rest, we’ve heard all the arguments already.
It’s actually a plus that it runs Windows. I used macOS as my daily driver for 12 years prior to switching back and switching back to Windows was a deliberate choice. Windows is wonderful. Both OS’s have their pros and cons. If it’s been a while since you’ve used Windows, I’d recommend giving it a go sometime.

Makes sense, don't need these great M3 machines on the market when you're trying to push the M4. Especially if the performance improvements are marginal, keeping M3 stock around at a discount only hurts M4 sales for the people who don't need the latest and greatest.

We’re in agreement on the basics of economics and pricing. Apple knows what they’re doing and more power to them to pricing their products to the extent the market will bear. That’s what I’d do too! Just saying that lately they’ve jumped on board the with the inflation craze and are kind of in new territory. Hey, I own Apple Stock…I want them to do well…just not on me😊. In any event Apple has their strategy and I have mine. Mine has me being a late adopter of most things Apple. I’m cool with that…as it’s new to me when I get it:)
