Apple's 5th Avenue New York Apple Store Unveiling

Is the opening being streamed by apple?

If not, please can someone going get a bit recorded and youtube it, cos I live in the UK and dont want to miss out on something cool!

but 6PM New York time is gonna be what 10-11PM UK time ? so prepare for a long wait to see if Jobs has just one more thing after cutting the ribbon

I'll be there:D ..unfortunately I have to work so Im only going to be getting their about 4 hours early. I hope its worth it.
 
Really nice store, but is there going to be 2 floors....like one floor suspended :confused:
 
Hey-- what a beautiful and striking entrance! I'll be heading over there tomorrow evening for the opening, should be fun!

The black plastic wrapping has come off The Cube at the store, and it revealed a surprise--a huge white, floating Apple logo inside.

Yes, a true 'surprise', that. That's definitely the word for it. No one would have imagined there would be an Apple logo involved in the project.

I assume they will probably hire a company to clean the windows on that though.

As already explained: the store itself is underground. What you're seeing in the photos is an above ground entrance.

The "underground store" thing is common in NYC - too many businesses trying to find surface space on a small section of a small island.

That would have looked tacky and ugly IMO. The Apple logo as it was done is perfect.
 
How stores in NY are open 24/7? I'm just wondering who will go to an Apple Store in the middle of the night.

Then again: I would have spent a million dollars on apple products if I could visit a store at 3-5 am on my way home from a night out with the guys...
 
With this release of FCE HD 3.5 this bodes very well Apple may unveil a video camera today or tomorrow. It should be in the round but it is in the cube and instead of a 3CCD they have a 5CCD could the 5th element everyone is talking about be the new prosumer HD based video camera to compete with JVC/Sony there is no one in the market unlike the 50 names in the mobile pone market... FIAT just enter crazy, crazy... Apple may not know alot about mobile phones but they sure as hell know a lot about video cameras.
