AppleCare+ is a waste of money. It's for people that want to increase Apple's margin.
I used to think it was a decent deal until I tried to take advantage of that free battery swap and they told me they only do it if the battery drops to 80% health 🤡

So yeah it’s 100% useless unless you absolutely know you’re going to break the glass

15 Pro - Exactly 1 year old.

80% battery limit was on except for a couple of travel weeks. Mostly MagSafe charging. Often topped off the battery during the day since I've got a MagSafe charger on my desk at work.

247 cycle count, current max capacity 100%

Since it did so well, I've bumped it to 85% charge limit for no good reason.

And I could not care less. More easier for me just to change battery rather than being with dead phone in the middle of the day.

15 Pro, set at 80% limit since new, 98% 239 cycles, 50/50 on wired vs wireless charging.
For my normal use the battery last all day.

iPhone 15 Pro Max
Manufacture Date August 2023
First Use September 2023
80% Limit almost activated anytime (on rare occasions I needed more juice)
Cycle Count 331
Max Capacity 96%

For 60% of my charging I used an unofficial MagSafe charger connected to a 10W adapter. The phone never got warm with it.
Other charging cycles were in my car, on my desk stand (MagSafe) and sometimes on a 35W charger with USB C.

This is pretty amazing, my iPhone 14 Pro Max was at 88% after 280 cycles.

15 Pro; 100% limit; almost entirely MagSafe charging; manufacture date Aug '23; first use date Sep '23

91% Max Cap.; 353 cycle count

Using my 15PM from 1/oct.

Capacity : 97%
Cycles : 239

I keep charge level at 80%, few times I charged to 100%. I don't have a lot of Apps, take a lot of pictures. don't have social media apps but watch a lot of YouTube, Prime etc. Charge it whenever I want. I use MS Teams as well.

575 cycles after almost exactly 1 year of use, and still on an impressive 92%.

I charge overnight on MagSafe, during the day I charge with a mixture of fast charging (wired) and occasional slow charging (12w).

For the first 5-6 months I limited charge to 80% then I just kept it at 100% with optimised charging.
Holy Moly... How does one cycle 575 times in 368 days? thats insane.

iPhone 15 pro max - purchased Oct 2023.

175 cycle count
99% maximum capacity
Most always set to 80%. A few times purposely charged to 100%.

Almost exclusively MagSafe charged. Rarely charged via usb-c and if I did usually via a 2A charger

Launch day 15 Pro Max, battery still at 100% with 185 cycles. Always use wire for 80% charging (unless I have long day ahead and charge to 100%), have automation set for 50% charge to go to low power mode. Guess I am not a heavy user.

I find there is a high correlation between people who get a new phone every year or two, and people who obsess over their battery health. The amount of obsession over battery health I hear on the Accidental Tech Podcast is baffling, and those jokers get new phones every year or two.
So true!!!

I am not one of these people. I buy multiple phones every year, because I like to test a few to see which one I like the most, and also to always have a solid backup phone. I couldn't care less about battery degradation/health. Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but I don't know why anyone who buys a new phone every year would care about battery degradation. That doesn't make sense. To add to this, if you are buying a new phone every year just to get a new battery, that is just stupid.

So, let me get this straight. Treat your phone like it's capacity is at 80% to keep it above 90% for longer? What's the point, if at day one you're maxing out at 80% capacity? I keep my phone on a charger and at the end of the first year it's around 90% capacity. Then I upgrade and start all over. I don't see the point of fictitiously lowering your battery to try to keep actual capacity higher. That higher capacity isn't being used, so it's pointless.

There were a few studies with car batteries, because there cost way more than phone batteries. The best results were if the batteries were kept between 20 and 80% charge. Fast charging is the number one battery killer with car batteries. Taxi cabs with 70% or more of charging being done with fast charging were the first ones that had to have their batteries replaced. Second cause was always charging to 100% and getting lover than 5%.

Now will this matter if you replace your phone every other year? Probably not. But if you keep it for four or five years like I do it will make a difference.

I got my 15 Pro on release day and set it to the 80% limit right away.
I'm now at 97% on 236 Cycles, which is pretty good I guess … let's see how this continues.

Edit: I only charge my phone wirelessly.

• 15 Pro Max since launch day
• Using 80% limit most of the time when I work from home, 100% limit whenever I’m out all day or traveling
• About even mix of wired and wireless charging
• 152 cycles
• Maximum capacity is “100%”
