Hahaha! Amazing this is here today. Over the weekend my girlfriend told me someone at her office came in with really strange headphones. I right away asked... Were they white with a little (but still big) sticks? And wireless. She said Yes.

I told her, it was the new airpods... Her only reply was "they stupid looking" I didnt even get to tell her the price. Why beat a dead horse

Sure they all said 10... They just over compensating.

Or maybe some of us realize that no headphones look "cool" and just want the best features. Solid sound quality, great battery life, easy charging, and very comfortable due to no wires pulling down on the earbud. 10/10, would purchase again.

I love mine, been on Bluetooth for years and finally have one that works really well with all my iDevices. there are a couple downsides but not many. I didn't plan to wear them to they gym but wound up doing just that. What is also fantastic that no one talks much about is how they are great for phone calls! so many other Bluetooth headsets have terrible noise canceling but when I talk to people they say it's like I'm talking on my phone and not a headset that picks up every noise in a room.

I get the "looks" followed by questions. Everyone who has approached me exhibits a positive curiosity about them. I have been wearing them since January and I bought a pair for my son in early April. He works in a downtown setting and laughed the other day that he almost can't wear them anymore because he is constantly stopped by people wanting to talk about the Airpods.

My guess is that while some may find them funny looking now, they will become quite normal over time.

Or, they'll continue to be funny looking until Apple redesigns them or at least gives them a color other than Q-Tip white.

Time will tell.

I am sure you will be the one providing the reality that even without microwaves on your head, sickness is always there because of human nature! Now just forget the illiterate rubbish of the countryside you probably come from and bring me one important doctor's research to prove your words. Otherwise just stay silent and eat the high quality foods that make your country's population the fattest people in the world!

Fair enough, and you can keep sticking those uranium blankets in your ears!

As an owner of the AirPods, there are absolutely awesome! Completely satisfied with them. Even 3 months after I purchased them.

It's not true wireless if there's still a wire between your ears.

The major inconvenience of the wired earphones is caused by the wire between the earbuds and the phone. In comparison, the inconvenience caused by the wire between the two earbuds is much less. In fact, the wire between the two buds brings in one benefit on another side -- in cases when I can only use one bud, like while driving, I don't fear that I accidentally misplace it and crazily look for it at a later time.

Since $15-20 gets me a product solving the big majority of the "wired" problem, there is no way to identify the extra 8-10 times of cost just to solve the rest of the "wired" problem.

Thanks for your ancdotal experience.

Ah. Once again the magical $15-20 dollar price range. Still no supporting link.

I love my uranium blankets! And you can go on eating the genetically modified foods which are forbidden in my lands, but well popular in yours, as well as sitting on your sofa 17 hours per day watching football on tv, as well as breathing the clean air around you which contributes most part of the global pollution, and then wonder why you don't feel that well, even though you kept your brains free from microwaves!...

Good thing loads on here said they were ugly and looked ridiculous and they're not going to buy them.
Yet months later after release they are still almost as hard to find as the Dodo bird.

Let's be real they still look kinda goofy on most people but they seem to work well, have some cool features and the rechargeable case, though I haven't looked it in person, seems like it's built from top quality materials.

I would have probably got a pair if they had better a better seal/fit design and sound quality (in part I would assume because of not having a ear tunnel sealed form). I like the auto pause feature when removing from one's ear but wouldn't use the siri functions often because I don't want to be that guy in public that's talking to his phone and annoying people.

I use my headphones for running so went with a set of Beats X (less chance of falling out of ears and better sound) since they were on sale for $129 vs $179 (CDN) vs $219 for AirPods and I'm pretty happy with them so far. Sound quality is a bit on the bassy side but a lot better than I thought the sound would be.

Will be keeping my on the next gen AirPods though.

Others in this thread have mentioned that they get the looks. Even the press have poked fun at the design...

That said, you echo what I stated previously: Forget what everyone else thinks and enjoy them.
I must just not be that self conscious. Nobody at my gym, or on my walks, or at my work have ever mentioned, glanced at, or asked about them. They have been worth every penny I paid, and I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Understandable, akin to a Hyundai guy reasoning why the extra cost for the Mercedes isn't worth it.

Mine have a magnet grip that keeps them in their case.
I think they were talking about taking them out. They can be a little tricky to grab.

Sound quality is subjective and different for each person. I've never been a fan of Beats as it seems to be all about bass, but personally, I think the AirPods sound great and one of the big advantages is being able to pair to your Applewatch, so if you're into running, you can carry on listening to music without taking the phone.

Has anyone actually got an opinion on these for sound quality?

£159 for them is a complete joke considering what other wireless solutions you can buy.

People used to think radiation was good for you. They drank radon water and used uranium blankets, because "nothing had been proven by science". If you think EMF and RF microwaves are good for you, then I guess you'll be personally providing that proof you seek.

I'm not going to argue whether or not BT headphones are bad for your health, but if they are, we're all pretty screwed anyway, because the radiation from bluetooth is much weaker than the wifi and cellular signals that you're exposed to pretty much 24/7.

I expected them to be uncomfortable, or fall out, but I thought the convenience might be worth some annoyance over the fit. Imagine my surprise to find out that they are comfortable--and stay in! Brilliant product, from my point of view.

The BeatsX are not really bass heavy, in my opinion. They aren't as accurate as ETY ER4P wired headphones, but I would not expect them to be. The BeatsX has the W1 chip, so they can pair with the Apple Watch just as easily as the Airpods.

I don't know that sound quality is subjective. A 48kbps mp3 file is not going to have equal sound quality to a FLAC file from the same source. Yes, sound preference is subjective and Beats has made a lot of money tweaking their headphones for people's preferences versus simply being accurate. Personally, I typically prefer accurate headphones, but the BeatX and Airpods are more about convenience (IMO).

I have to admit they are a clever product, but when the first word used by customers is "magic" I throw up in my mouth just a bit. It's amazing how Apple shears the sheep, and the sheep just keep coming back for more.

Wow, Bluetooth earbuds that stay in your ear. Revolutionary!

Based on your further comment below something says no matter what opinion is given you 'd still think its a joke.

Please, don't stop here, do list those other wireless solutions that you consider are not a "joke".

I bought a pair when they first became available in stores and am highly satisfied.

1. The sound quality is as good as you can expect from this type of product. If you really want better sound, you need to start with either a full-coverage headphone design or a sealed in-ear design. I use these a lot while walking and I need to be able to hear the bus that's about to run me over. ;)

2. Convenience and connection are great with iOS 10 devices.

3. Unlike any other Apple pod design, these actually stay in amazingly well, even when I'm exercising.

4. Bonus points for surviving a trip through my washing machine in the pocket of a pair of pants. I was amazed that they worked after that (they still do - no apparent effect at all).

"Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
These are my own, my AirPods!"

The famous in audiophile community, Harman Curve, is made exactly by people's preferences, finding after a rather long procedure the average mean of what people liked for each part of the frequency spectrum. The Harman Curve has been followed religiously afterwards by important audio manufacturers for their pro iems, including Shure, Westone and others...So what you say that has been done by Beats, is the exact path followed by all audio companies. There is no accurate or neutral sound outcome in the real world. It exists only in your imagination. Beats Solo 2 and 3, which have exactly same sound with 2, are praised by many honorable people within the audiophile community. The warm but still detailed tuning of Beats headphones, after Apple's acquisition, is really remarkable.

What I generally see here, is a lot of people expressing their hate towards the biggest tech company in the world. The only explanation I can find is that their hate exists because of jealousy. Most probably they could never afford buying expensive and high quality gear, offered by Apple and they always try to find cheap solutions which they need to justify to themselves afterwards. They can just afford buying 15$ Bluetooth from Amazon Chinese section, so they try to convince themselves that they are better or same with AirPods!! I recommend all of them, to try to find the cash in their lives, instead of being jealous of other people's high quality purchases! Can't that guy understand how funny it sounds to compare 10$ Bluetooth which will be over after 1 month of use, as well as piercing his ears, to the most important wireless audio idea ever conceived? Is jealousy so blinding really??

I haven't seen one yet nor seen anybody using it. I was at the Apple Store the other day and didn't noticed anybody having one dangling on their ear. The only thing I noticed from the store that day Apple Store employees using radio. Talking about how advance their technology and they still using radio.
Sorry, but - REALLY? Do you think Apple employees are welcome to listen to music rather than focus on the customers they are paid to serve? Of COURSE they're not wearing them.

You're dumb! I didn't say Apple Store employees should be wearing one and listening to music. I'm old enough and have 2 kids to understand that retail employee should not have a headphone on while working. What I said I haven't seen any person (customer or employee on break) at the store coming in and out with the airpods on. Even the entire mall that day I didn't notice one person walking a with their airpods on. I see people with their beats headphone around, but not airpods. I repeat didn't notice anybody using airpods that day! What catches my attention that day is Apple Store employees still using radio. That's it!
