mine work great, but I will update them to get the new ones with Bluetooth 5.0 to match my phone and watch ;) (I can't believe it's almost been 2 years with them already)
bluetooth 5.0 is exclusive to series 4

edit: I mave have mis-understood what you were referring to by 2 years with them.

Weird, earlier today they were available. Could it be that they’re going to release them alongside the iPhone XR preorders on the 19th?

I’ve been thinking they will launch a new version soon. Makes more sense to launch the wireless charging case with new buds than only separately. No reason they can’t release the hardware for this now and AirPower at a later date. I’d love to charge my AirPods by throwing them on a pad instead, and it should work with any Qi charger. Will definitely buy these on day one and hand down my old AirPods to my wife who will only use them when running.

I saw someone wearing airpods on the bus this morning - first time I’ve seen them in months..
Whereas a dozen or so people on the bus every day are wearing over-the-ear style wireless headphones.. JBL, Bose, Sennheiser, and occasionally Beats.

Wireless is clearly the future, but these little earphone thingies just don’t deliver the musicality, or the sound isolation. (Or the noise reduction that increasing numbers of new headphones support..)
And in my area I am seeing AirPods everywhere.

AirPods aren’t meant to compete with over the ear headphones. They excel for me at being the best earbuds I’ve ever used for exercise and I have tried the gamut. I can even wear them with a pair of ear muffs when using power tools when I want sound isolation. I can understand that cans are a better option for those who use public transport regularly but using them for exercise or extended periods, ie 4+ hours, isn’t comfortable or practical. When I’m done using my AirPods I can put them in my pants coin pocket and forget they are there. Their convenience is outweighed by their deficit in audio quality, especially if one listens primarily to podcasts or the like rather than music, as I do.

Had mine two years, the batteries in my Airpods are starting to degrade quite rapidly now. I used to get 5 hours now I get about 1 hour and 30 minutes. I'd say it reduced by 2 hours alone in the last 3 months.

So I'm definitely ready to buy some new ones, I love this product.

I really hope a new version is coming out soon...I got mine on Day 1 and the battery in the L bud is awful.

Totally agree. Got mine on day one and have loved them every day since. One of the best Apple products in my opinion. But the battery life is getting bad on mine, can’t get through a movie or more than one conference call before they are dying. So I am anxious for the new ones to come out.

Bought a pair from the London regent St store yesterday - they had a drawer full of them.

I was holding out for a new model but my beatsX broke so while I’m waiting for a repair I figured I’d try them out.

They feel like they’re barely hanging on my ears but haven’t fallen out yet. Noise isolation is bad but manageable so far.

They are massively more convenient than the beatsX - put them in my ears and don’t need to switch them on or turn them off. I’d like them to fit better, and some kind of noise cancelling would be great. Wireless charging would be a bonus.

I’ll return these when I get my beatsX back (28 days return window it seems in the UK) and grab AirPods 2

Bose (and many others) > Beats > AirPods LOL

Personally I would rate it as Beats = AirPods > Others purely on the convenience factor. I bought a pair of Sennheiser but returned it in a month because of how hard it was to switch between devices compared to the headphones I had with the W1 chip. It supported two devices but would it would randomly switch to another device or take very long to switch when I tell it to, like the other BT headphones I had in the past that had that feature. The audio was better, but the usability frustration really built up for me.

What else do you want. BT5? Longer battery life?

Manual volume adjustment

For my preferences and purposes, the AirPods' noise reduction is perfect.

I've jogged with probably a dozen headphones. If they have sound isolation, then I can't hear potential danger like cars. If they don't have sound isolation, then traffic noise is so loud I have to crank up the audio to uncomfortable levels.

AirPods have a perfect blend of reducing, but not eliminating, external noise. They isolate noise just enough that I can run with normal volume, but yet allow just enough noise in that I also have situational awareness.

I have owned about 30 headphones in my life and AirPods are so perfect for me that they are simply on an entirely different level. I don't think I can ever go back to anything else and be half as happy.

I know they’ve received mixed reviews since first launching but I purchased some earlier on in the year and have been happy with them.

They aren’t marked at waterproof but my first set went through the washing machine... the charging case was D.O.A but the AirPods themselves still worked a treat!

Don’t know where you live but here in the Netherlands I see them everywhere, train, bus, gym, joggers, cyclists etc.

I really hope they release a Gen 2. Ive had mine for 2 years now and the battery on the buds themselves don't last an hour anymore. I use them ALL THE TIME. Best thing apple has come out with in years, AND they sound good for the other person when I make calls. Holding out on buying a new set, if we don't see a new set this month I'll just buy a new Gen 1 set.

I am with you there! mine don't last for an hour anymore, specialty the right one since I use that as a single one for podcasts or talking on phone most often. Holding out for new generation.

Lmao. AirPods are sold out! Assuming AirPods 2 are on tne way.
Few hours later: update; they’re back in stock.
Btw the Mac Mini isn’t even on the way to. The Mini is dead.
Question: how come we haven’t seen any photo leaks of the supposed iPad Pro 2018 which always happens with every product?

still hoping that new ones will be announced with the ipad..... since had mine since release and they dont hold up as well as they sued to. battery not as long etc

The same happened to me AirPods still worked after washing machine.
