I’ve been thinking they will launch a new version soon. Makes more sense to launch the wireless charging case with new buds than only separately. No reason they can’t release the hardware for this now and AirPower at a later date. I’d love to charge my AirPods by throwing them on a pad instead, and it should work with any Qi charger. Will definitely buy these on day one and hand down my old AirPods to my wife who will only use them when running.
You still think AirPower will see the light of day? It's been over a year since their bold announcement and not a peep since. I wouldn't hold my breath.

I know they’ve received mixed reviews since first launching but I purchased some earlier on in the year and have been happy with them.

They aren’t marked at waterproof but my first set went through the washing machine... the charging case was D.O.A but the AirPods themselves still worked a treat!

Reviews haven't been "mixed;" they've been positively glowing. At least all the ones that get beyond "they look like cigarettes lawwwwwwl."

Lmao. AirPods are sold out! Assuming AirPods 2 are on tne way.
Few hours later: update; they’re back in stock.
Btw the Mac Mini isn’t even on the way to. The Mini is dead.
Question: how come we haven’t seen any photo leaks of the supposed iPad Pro 2018 which always happens with every product?

People want a new generation of AirPods, I read that in china Apple just got clearance for a number of Bluetooth devices and one "unknown" one that may be the AirPods2. In the past a disruption of stock has been an indication of something new coming. Speculation but it's fun
There has been rumors from credible sources that the Mac Mini is being redesigned and will be a more "pro" model and more modular, similar, I think, to the redesigned Mac Pro that will be release next year.
Apple has also been VERY aggressive to contain leaks in the last couple years, people aren't as excited about iPad as they are iPhone so not as many leaks, although I have seen quite a number of leaks around specs and even mockups that I think will be very accurate.

I saw someone wearing airpods on the bus this morning - first time I’ve seen them in months..
Whereas a dozen or so people on the bus every day are wearing over-the-ear style wireless headphones.. JBL, Bose, Sennheiser, and occasionally Beats.

Wireless is clearly the future, but these little earphone thingies just don’t deliver the musicality, or the sound isolation. (Or the noise reduction that increasing numbers of new headphones support..)
It's the exact opposite here in London - go on the London underground and you simply don't see people wearing over the head headphones anymore - they've gone back to Apple EarPods or have moved on to AirPods!

>> These updated AirPods could also include a wireless charging case that will allow them to work with the AirPower charging mat that continues to be in development<<

G5 Powerbooks, Apple Television, Apple Car, Wireless Charging Mats, Updated Mac Mini, Unicorns, Mermaids....

I really hope a new version is coming out soon...I got mine on Day 1 and the battery in the L bud is awful.

There will never be new colors!
My L bud is pretty rough too, going on two years of owning and using almost daily.

Apple doesn't give up that easily. They might be embarrassed, but I don't think they've given up. Worst case is many years from now they release AirPower with truly wireless charging over a distance, lol.

Hopefully the problems with AirPower mean Apple will separate the launches and get on with the AirPods 2

I must be invisible then :)

Lots of people wearing all kinds of headphones. Most of them noise cancelling. Some wearing good in-ear phones like AirPods, some wearing nasty things where everyone can enjoy that persons taste of music :-(

Apple should be already including the Wireless charging case with all AirPods.

If they want, they could included it ‘disabled’ by software, and enable the wireless charging capability via a software update when they want or when they release the AirPower.

“Apple just got clearance for a number of Bluetooth devices and one "unknown" one that may be the AirPods2.”
No they didn’t. It was for a new iPad (assuming the new Pro) and only one unknown Bluetooth device! Could even be a new  pencil. Which would make sense with a new Pro model.
But with every new hardware there has been leaked pics of the screen or the casing, etc... Not a single one of the new iPad Pro. Render and mock uos are not leaks. You know that.
I don’t think there will be a new Mac Mini.
Am in the market for a new iPad, if the mock ups and renders are close to the real deal I’m definitely in.

Probably another bug in Apples logistic system...

Doubt the redesign part... At least not externally.
Frankly, all the Mini needs is a stronger CPU with a real heatsink (!), 16G RAM (option for 32GB) and 2-4 TB3 ports so we can connect our external GPU.
That Mini will do the job for the next 5 years at least...

I bought some and was so disappointed with them. They sound fine, the true wireless is great but the lack of basic features is horrible. I am definitely returning them to the store. I had the hardest time figuring out how to change tracks or pause in the settings. It takes more than a tap, I was hitting it so hard to make it work and half the time it didn't work. I don't want to have to ask Siri to make it louder or quieter or start a song over during a workout. A simple touch sensitive design would've been better, no volume control is a killer for me. simple swipe gestures on them could've made that happen. For now I am sticking to my Beats X, amazing sound, amazing battery, still wireless enough that it doesn't get in the way.

gave up waiting for version 2 and bought a pair for $100 new. in my opinion they're worth it in the sense I can take one bud out to listen to people and things around me while listening to music/podcasts. Not the best sound in the world, but I was sick of using the lightning headphones and having the cord dangling. When I don't need the buds I use my QC35, still the best headphones I ever owned.

They can improve the existing ones with software - why not have a triple tap control option?

I have set mine up to be:
- (L) tap tap -> previous track
- (R) tap tap -> next track

Play/pause is simply done by removing one, but this leaves no ability to summon Siri.

Lol.. my Costco in AZ yesterday had an entire pallet of them for $139.95/ea.

My local Costco had them for the same price about a month ago. I took that as an indication new AirPods are imminent. Here's to hoping they will be announced the last week of October.

Where did you get them brand new for that price?

Europe not so important to you, Apple!

Any feedback from people who have lost their AirPods because they don't stay in place? Not much written about this issue, so I'm guessing that they don't fall off your ears.

They can't come soon enough. After 2 years, my batteries are to the point it's a struggle getting through through an hour meeting, so I need to replace them.

I use my constantly through the day-- conference calls at work and music walking about town.

One feature I'd like to see is better water sealing-- I'd like to be able to just run them under the faucet periodically to clean them. The case too-- the shiny white as picked up a lot of pocket lint.

Your guess is correct. If they fit your ears they stay in very well.

I've gone jogging with many earbuds, which involves a lot of pavement pounding. AirPods are actually the only earbuds that don't fall out. I think it is the combination of ultra lightweight, and no connecting cord to drag against things or bounce up and down, pulling them out.

In fact they are so comfortable and so light, it feels like I'm jogging without earbuds at all. It's quite a dramatic improvement.
