I would not pay 199 but it makes sense for AirPower to be that much. Each charger is about 50 bucks on Amazon and this thing can charge three at a time plus a bit of Apple tax = 199.

$200 dollars for a $40 dollar charger Apple I think I'll pass .
[doublepost=1519400895][/doublepost]Personally I don't see this product charging a phone any faster than just using the lightning cable.

I posted a link of an Ikea charger that supports 3 smartphones and costs $60
And my Belkin Qi charger costs about $40, so I could buy 5 of those at the price of one AirPower if that was the price.

Like the first bluetooth audio only iphones, release wireless charging iphones without the accompanying accessory, give your competitors months of time to sell their own then release your, more expensive version?

I just can’t justify the likely price point for the AirPower around $200, unless you have all three devices with the wireless charging AirPod battery case, Series 3 Apple Watch and iPhone X/8, then perhaps. I would imagine the price point will start somewhere around the $200 mark.

However if somebody just had an iPhone 8 or X, then there are other suitable wireless charging docks on the market for a cheaper price point.

I paid $9.99 twice for a wireless charger. They both work perfectly. I could have them literally almost all over my house for apples price point. I’d say at this point my max price for a wireless charger would be $15.

I'm kinda bummed because I wanted to get one of these when it came out but I have the Apple Watch 3 with the Milanese Loop band and I don't see how it could work with this since it doesn't lay flat. :(

If this thing is $200, just imagine how much real wireless charging is going to cost someday!

I also want to know how this thing is going to work with Apple Watches that have bands that don't easily come apart. Am I going to have to remove my Milanese Loop or Link Bracelet every night to charge it? If so, no thanks. And I'm 95% that's going to be the case. I really like my $20 Anker wireless charger, but the only thing I wish for is that it was larger. I can't just plop my phone down onto it and expect it to start charging half the time. Especially when I'm reaching over in the dark to set it down. At least it lights up for a few seconds after it makes a connection so I know it's charging. I'd like to get a bigger one at home for my night stand and bring the Anker one to work where it's not a big deal. I also want to get the AirPods charging case but I might wait for the rumored newer version to come out and just get that if it includes the charging case.

I've heard a lot of speculation on possible prices for this. Some ridiculous, some not. For what it is (and considering the fact that it's Apple) I won't be surprised at a $100-$150 price. (even if that's the low end) Regardless, I'm actually looking forward to this. Will help me tidy up my nightstand a bit

I think iPhone 8 is similar to iPhone 7 and other older models except some nicer camera feature and wireless charging capability. If Apple is logical enough, it should make the AirPower one of more reasons people should upgrade to iPhone 8 or X by offering a reasonable price point for AirPower. I do not think it will be anything less than 129 bucks, but I would love to have one for my Series 3 and my X.

If they had this out when the new iPhones were released I’d probably have it. But the Choetech ones work just fine and cost $15-20 each. It’s not exactly the same thing but good enough. Since the 7.5 charging isn’t all that much better it’s not worth replacing them.

How in the world would this NOT work with Apple Watch Series 2?! It's only two years old, and it has inductive charging...what, technically, would render this obsolete?! What a joke, but the price and the compatibility.

Series 2 - water resistant
Series 3 - LTE
Series 4 - Health

Apple needs to sell the watch on a big announcement. I think Health is the next big thing.
Heart rate, temperature, blood sugar all in one package.
This would be a very nice advancement to the watch

I agree. My brother has the series 3 and the heart rate monitoring and activity tracking is already pretty nice. If they can improve that even further, many fitness trackers will become (mostly) obsolete.

I do hope, though, that in addition to the health features, watchOS 5 adds enough APIs to allow podcast and (3rd party) music apps. It would really be nice to be able to leave my phone in the bag when I hit the gym.

I find the Samsung tv ad that pokes fun at the apple iPhone for being behind the times compared to its Samsung's counterpart "laughable". The ad shows a guy walking around with his iPhone, and is bummed when he realizes that 1, its not fully water proof, 2, he has to have an adapter for headphones, 3, he has to wait in long lines to get the next one, and 4, that he has to be tethered to its charge cord while recharging.
Funny thing is, while his girlfriend is having to lay down her phone on the table to recharge it, he is able to still use his iPhone in his hands while its connected to his charge cord. Her Samsung phone is not very accessible while charging, and his iPhone is.

Can’t remember the last time I needed to charge using a cable charger

I use my Samsung wireless stand at night and that’s all I need as my x lasts me all day and If I wanted to i could put my mophie charger on my desk all day and my phone stays 100% all day

So really I can’t see why I would ever need to use cable chargers

You’re right. I just never bothered with it and never appreciated that Samsung don’t make a big issue of wireless charging because it’s not a new feature now. The same goes for fast chargers. For most androids it comes in the box and is there as standard. Maybe if I’d paid Apple prices then Idve used the wireless charging more :)

My high limit is about 150 for this type of device as I have a phone, a watch, and I'll get the wireless case for AirPods.

But, 200? Naw. they can keep it for that much money.

Prefer my Anker WIRED charger which charges faster than any of these silly "wireless" toys.

And wireless charging wastes more energy than wired charging, so it's slow and worse for the environment (due to energy waste in the transfer process)

https://www.howtogeek.com/233205/why-you-dont-want-to-wirelessly-charge-your-smartphone/

"This means it will take more electricity to charge a phone if you do so wirelessly. Some of that wasted power will be in the form of excess heat. While the heat won’t destroy your phone, heat is the enemy of your smartphone’s battery — that heat will translate to a bit more wear on your battery."

Amazon is your friend. I bought a wireless charging stand for less than $20 for my X. If it was made by Apple or sold in an Apple Store the price would be considerably more. It works just fine sitting next to my bed. Tap the screen to see the time. (I won't chance it leaving a clock display on all night due to possible screen burn in)
$75 for the AirPower is more than it's actual worth but we all know it's gonna be way more than that.
I have an iPhone X, AirPods, and a Series 3 Apple Watch. I have NO interest in this.

I've looked at what's out there for stands and there are very few that I like, or more to the point very few that my wife will be ok having on the nightstand. Hopefully this will start changing as more manufacturers chase after the Apple customer.
