I’ve always been a glass half-empty person… Apple going fully empty now.

$2000 for a slab of glass that likely would shatter after a couple of drops? Who would buy this other than collectors?

Well according to 'rumours' Apple thinks people will buy a 2400 dollar and up folding phone.. so apparently people will buy these devices?

This leaves the door open for the use of novel materials such as ceramic or sapphire as opposed to the metals now used, I wonder if these alternatives have been looked at by Apple?

nah I haven't seen DMB since they came to my home town in Australia a looong time ago. Before that I saw them in '09 in Las Vegas. Big fan of Carter Beauford! You?
I went to Forest Hills this year. I hope they come back to Australia soon! It's a shame COVID cancelled the last time they were supposed to go.

So, according to this analyst, the point of this phone was to give Apple the ability to raise the prices on iPhones? And the stock is down now because investors don’t think they will be able to do that? It blows my mind that a company which generates over $100 billion in revenue and tens of billions in profit in a quarter would have their stock downgraded because they might not be able to raise prices on one of their products. On Apple’s last quarterly earnings call, they reported nearly $30 billion in profit. I don’t think the price of their products is a problem.

Not surprised. Sounded too ambitious anyway.
Sounded too imaginary. Folding phones, they’re being done and have been done for years. As Apple would need to buy displays from SOMEONE, it’s to be expected that the companies that want the contract would be producing parts in quantity and with few defects, so we’d see (and do see) evidence of that. I would not be surprised if Apple releases a folding phone

An entirely new untested at scale technology (both the digitizer and screen)? That’s “ambitious” like saying a company has an “ambitious” plan of having people on Mars in 2007. Or 2024.

Hope this rumor is true. I think this was one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard attributed to Apple, but wouldn’t have put it past them prioritizing form over function.

I feel badly for those who were waiting for this phone. But it never held any appeal for me - for either practical or aesthetic reasons. This is just the latest shoe to drop in the RAM/memory crisis. And we’re nowhere near done yet.
Well, I wasn't waiting for a curved glass display for sure, but I was (and still am) waiting for something more special than an iPhone 19.

moved it to SELL because of Apple's inability to raise prices...

First of all, when has having a newer or better product ever stopped Apple from charging more than something is worth?

Second of all... 😡 .... the only reason stock prices can go up is if Apple charges as much for a phone as it costs to buy a car??

I’d say stock valuation is more related to past financials then future products. If you’re basing your investing solely on future prospects then you’re not really investing.
Stock valuation is based on the expected sum of all future dividends. Past financials are only relevant to the extent that they have predictive power for future profits.

They had it all wrong. The 20th Anniversary iPhone should have been a redesign of the regular model: Take the chassis of the iPhone Air. Add a silicon carbon battery. Give the Ultrawide camera a 1x crop. Replace the wide camera with a 3x zoom.
