After reading through the comments, I was bracing myself for something horrible. It actually wasn't bad. Reminded me of Missy Elliot. I don't know if I would call that a holiday ad.There was a time when people had dignity. Pride. What exactly was won in the "culture war" when anything and everything is the order of the day? This person is being made fun of. I'm truly sorry for her.
Absolutely. There’s just something a bit unpleasant about publicly exclaiming how much you dislike somebody’s personal taste (and no doubt as well as the people who made the advert there any many other people who like that style too). That’s just my opinion anyway; you are of course entitled to disagree. The artist is entitled to decorate herself however she sees fit. She is not entitled to universal approval of her decorative choices.
The magic of dental hygiene.
How in the world is saying that the lyrics are unintelligible racist in any way? Why does that persons skin colour have anything to do with the fact the type of English they are speaking (Ebonics) is unintelligible or difficult to understand to most people not familiar it? The only one being racist is you by making an issue about poor music, lyrics and English an issue about race when it’s not about that. The casual racism with post likes these is gross. If you couldn't understand the lyrics, you may just not understand the English language. Also, this isn't a holiday song ... it's a holiday themed commercial, but the song is not a holiday song.
I’m not a fan of post 152. For one thing I’m actually in favour of positive discrimination (for example in the form of over representing certain backgrounds relative to their share of the population) for the sake of helping correct historical and embedded prejudices, amongst other things. For another thing, as an outsider I get the impression black Americans are a hugely significant part of the US music scene (and have been for a long time) so their representation in that context would logically be high anyway. Is that incorrect?See Post #152
This fact right here doesn’t get enough lip service. So many contemporary songs are nothing but overproduced processed junk food filled with samples stolen from better songs from decades past. It’s not art, it’s necrophilia. And no it’s not cultural or racial, as even new country artists are guilty of this. It spans all new artists, and it’s just sad.I’m sure that was the case. But let’s see if we hear the song in the Apple ad anywhere in 10 years. See you in 2030.![]()
What even was that?
When I was 16, I used to go to rock concerts down by the pier in Oceanside, California. It was back in the late 60s during the 'peace-love-dope-right on-solid, and heavy' period. The music was called acid rock, and I hated it. You couldn't hear yourself think, much less hearing the person talk next to you. The psychedelic light show didn't do anything for me. As much as I tried to play along, I would dart out after about 45 minutes. So, I disagree that it's an age thing'.That's what every generation says about their kids' music. When you say it yourself you have gotten old.
You‘re right, I am not a native speaker and this lady mumbles half the time so I really have a hatd time understanding what she says. The only one making my post racist is you. People like you really have a problem. Trying to see racism everywhere and constantly fighting non-racism. Here‘s another one for you: I prefer the taste of white bread instead of dark bread. I agree with OP, but I didn't realise 21 was old. That's what every generation says about their kids' music. When you say it yourself you have gotten old.
What a ludicrous thing to say.If I think this video's thumbnail looks horrifying but on the other hand I love Samuel L Jackson, am I racist or these two cancel out? Just asking, I'm not racism encyclopedia like some people around here.
Is it though? A guy several comments earlier claimed if you say musician has ungainly teeth, you're lowkey racist. Isn't that ludicrous? What a ludicrous thing to say.
Ha what, yeah wasn’t me. I was explaining what a low key racist was regarding another post.Is it though? A guy several comments earlier claimed if you say musician has ungainly teeth, you're lowkey racist. Isn't that ludicrous?
That’s called panderingWow.... this ad must be nice for a very few specific people.
This advt. is a result of creativity through zoom calls.Well that certainly doesn't live up to the excellent holiday ads of years past. Looks like the creatives took the year off. #2020
