Apple's Back to School Promo Launching Wednesday With $100 iTunes Gift Cards?

If the apple website doesn't update by midnight I'll be very mad! Anyone know what time exactly will this promotion start? What time did it start last year? Did it start exactly at midnight? Lol I'm seriously waiting til midnight with my credit card ready for a purchase

The Mac is not essential for going to school, a PC would do the job. And if he's that strapped for money, he'd save more than just 100 even if Apple was offering the usual deal by just buying a PC.

My point is is that if it was worth it for him to pay that much extra to get a Mac, deciding to scrap it over 100 dollars says more to me that he's just stamping his feet rather than just that much makes it unaffordable/no longer worth it.

Its the straw that broke the camel's back.

Its when you keep rationalizing your decision. Its like " I really like this. This other one is $400 but this one is nice and cooler and only $500. (not example for an apple product) that's good. Wait, I need to get that also and to use that properly I need this. Shoot, I forgot tax and shipping and handling and zoning fees to ship to my country. Dang, its $750 in total. Oh well, its expensive, I can afford it but it will be tight. [reads fine print under promotion]. WHAT? Not eligible for discount? It'll cost an extra $100. I can't afford $850. Guess I will have to go with something else."

Different but similar, he might be willing to pay a premium and counting on the promotion; when he does not get it he realizes how large the premium is and rejects it.

can anyone explain how this works?

Do you get the card (or whatever it'll be this year) at the time of purchase or do you have to go through some type of confirmation system?

It's just the beginning. Especially, after seeing how Steve looked at WWDC, I wonder how long he will be able to hold on to it with his health condition. And after him, who knows what will happen to Apple.
 
I think this is great! Why give away an iPod that people will just sell and put the money in their own pockets? This way it all stays in house which is what we all want so that Apple can make as much money as possible. It is not about the consumer, it's all about helping Apple maximize their profits.
 
I will be a little disappointed if it's not an iPod. However, I was planning on selling it, but an iTunes card I can actually use ($200 would be nicer though). From what I am reading, iTunes credit can be used in the Mac app store... Correct me if I am wrong? If so, that will be nice for a first time (soon to be) Mac user.

hello? you also know this can go towards the mac app store, where you can get applications (like word, iworks, lion etc) not just the ipod app store/itunes

I wish they would have mentioned earlier in the year that they were going to drop the free iPod.

I saved up forever to buy a MBP to replace my 2006 MB. When I went into the Apple store in January, I was going to purchase the MBP and an Ipod touch to replace my ancient iPod mini. The employee there asked how patient I was and mentioned the BTS sale. I figured I've gone this long, what more is 5 months?

I feel like such a fool. :(

Oh please don't let this be true. I've waited for a couple months with an ipod that only occasionally functions and a 5 year old macbook in order to get the ipod deal. ;o; Please don't fail me Apple.
 
just ordered my MBP 13" with $100 education discount and got the free printer and gift card. woo hoo. something is better than nothing.

already blew my $100 on the Beatles anthology and a bunch of $7.99 classic albums.
