Did you check BB's restocking fees on opened boxes?

I've never been a patient person and I've waited this long. I'm going for it tonight!
My thoughts are buying it at Best Buy and if a BTS comes out I will either ask them to price match or I'll return it and go to the apple store. I have a premier reward zone card and a 45 day return policy comes with that. Any holes in my thinking?

How has the promotion not started..

Previous B2S promotions:

2009 - May 27
2010 - May 25

I don't know the specifics date for the years before 2009 but I know it got earlier and earlier. Why would it suddenly follow a pattern and go from May 25 to June 15+? I even know the 1st ever B2S promotion started way earlier than that (june 6 i believe?) But thats irrevelant. How much more rumors do we have to wait for? May 25th, then it was may 31st, then june 4th, then june 6th, then june 14th and now june 15th. It is now june 15th and nothing happened overnight. Im starting to think if this $100 giftcard or ipod touch is worth it? Or if its even going to happen. I always have a little bit of hope but I've and probably much more have waited since april-may and if they aren't going to do the promotion, they might as well tell us because they are holding off several mac purchases. I know i probably sound annoying or whining but I just don't wanna buy my mac now and then realize i missed out on the promotion.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Is it too late to still appear today? Hasn't anyone visited a store yet?

its not yet on in UK...rang customer services and they have no information but on hang fire from hearing across the waters so on the waiting list :) hope it comes out soon

No promo

im on the east coast and talked to a rep who said there is no promo today, didn't ask about new airs

hopefully jobs will announce something in the next couple hours

Are some of you serious? I understand shopping for the best deal but the folks who are saying they won't buy a mac now because it doesn't come with a free iPod and will get a PC, I don't understand that.

Try to be a little more open minded.

Some were going to sell the iPod Touch to bring the eventual cost of the MBP to $899. There is a HUGE difference between $899 and $1,099 for some people.

Amortize the thing over a 4 year college life and it's less than a pizza a month. Or, just buy a PC and whine about that for four years. Your choice.

$200 > $100 > $0

I think our country is in the predicament it's in because of entitlement attitudes like the ones I'm reading about here.

I wasn't aware Apple offered a 4 year payment plan.

That chronicwire guy just tweeted this in reference to the BTS delay:
going to be out for a few hours, if this tweet ends up being wrong, please let me know, along with which store it is •

It would be fairly weird for Apple to plan something then have a "delay" all of a sudden. Seems more like they'd plan it and go through with it, or it was never in the cards.

Where do you see that tweet? It's not on @chronicwire 's feed

I knew I should've never bothered with all this stupid hype. I think that 9to5mac and Chronicwire have proven themselves to be utterly useless. Now I can go buy a Mac in peace...

I don't know much about twitter but I went to his feed page and clicked on "Following." It has things he's tweeted that aren't on the main page for some reason.

are you people that broke?

With Jobs' health concerns and retail chief Ron Johnson's departure to JC Penney, the bigger concern is Apple's apparently poor execution of a fairly regular annual promotion.

So... Assuming that BTS sale eventually rolls out and it is indeed the rumored $100 iTunes card, wouldn't be easier to get the card within the 14-day return window?

People were previously stating mix results from past BTS iPod promos of being able to get the iPod Touch and rebate if the Mac was purchased prior to the sale, but within the window. However, since this sounds like a card up front (no rebate involved), I would think it would be easier to either go to the Apple Store or call customer service up within the 14-day window and still get the card.

This will be my first Mac so I have little experience with dealing with them (beyond a couple iPods and both generation iPads). I would still think YMMV situation, but IMO since no rebate is involved I would think it would be an easier sell.

Actually, yes.

I currently would like to spend as little as possible on my MBP so I can have somse money next year since I don't really want to work for my first semester. An extra 200$ would help ALOT.

I am open minded. As I said, I shop for bargains, you would be foolish not to; my original intent was to get my son's MBP during B2S and sell the iPod. As it began to look like the B2S wouldn't start before he graduated, I decided to get the MBP for $999 at Microcenter. For me, saving $100 up front was as good as paying $1099 for the MBP plus another $199 for the iPod then going through the hassel of selling on eBay, paying eBay and Paypal, etc. and waiting for the rebate to roll in.

What I don't understand is that the $100 price difference (Apple is still giving you something worth $100) would be enough to change your mind from Apple to Windows, if a mac is what you really wanted.

Sorry, we can agree to disagree....

Past 10am est now.. So I guess thats a quick false on B2S today? Time to start digging up rumors for a late June MBA/B2S, get disappointed, reschedule for early july, get disappointed, mid july etc.

It's going to be a fun summer.

Except the iTunes card isn't worth $100. You can't sell it and get the cash, certainly not for $100. While I will still get a new MBP no matter what (current MB is going on five years now, and definitely showing its age), I'm actually considering also getting a PC so I can get the free Xbox and selling one or both of those. But I am in a better position financially to have that option open to me. For some other people, it's one or the other, which I completely understand. $200, which is what it really comes down to, not $100, is a big deal.
