My friend was thinking about getting a Macbook, but I told her to wait until this promotion started. Now that it's started, should I tell her to get it? Isn't the macbook due for a refresh? When should I tell her to wait until? (maybe until after WWDC?)

I would tell her to wait as long as possible, but her current computer could fail at any moment, and she definitely needs it by July 1st.

The MacBook just got updated. Now is the time to buy it, if she needs a new computer. It's not going to get updated for months.

So it's the 8 gig model? Ugh, that one is the same as the second generation one!

I'm buying my wife a new white Macbook for her birthday, I was going to get it on Amazon because it's cheaper...and no tax (I hate that the education discount is only 50 bucks now). :(

Both of us have the second generation iPod Touch. But I love free things, so I'm wondering if I should just pay a little extra and get the extra iPod? It would be a no brainer if it was the third gen one. Idk...

Is it possible to apply that $199 to the 32 gig model and get it for $99?

You do realize that the MacBook was just updated last week right? :)

Great, thanks both of you. I guess since it was a more minor update that I somehow missed it!

Hey,vie been waiting to get my MacBook pro for college with this promo. Andget the 200 dollar educational discount. I am looking at the 15inch i7 8gb HD and antiglare screen. Should apple honor the discount and the free iPod touch from ordering online or I'd have to order it in store?

Gosh people. My college classes ended a while ago. I'm already working on my summer classes lol. Although how are we getting a free ipod if they start at $249? o_o

edit: oh lol nevermind ipod includes classic, touch, nano, etc. I am so silly. 8D

Just what I was waiting for!

Back-to-school, WWDC announcements?

I've said since the first glimmerings of the iPad that the killer app(s) would be e-textbooks, with all the trimmings--student guides, hyperlinks to text citations, etc. But to date, none of the major textbook publishers, for HS or college, have made their books available in iPad format. Perhaps major publisher announcements in the course of Jobs' presentation on June 7? That would boost back-to-school sales, no?

Quick question guys. I want to get the 13 macbook pro. With student discount its $1099. Will the free ipod replace the $100 discount? Or will I get a free ipod and also the $100 discount thats now available? I know. I 'm greedy.

No, you get the education discount and the rebate on the iPod. You still have to front the money for the iPod at the point of sale.

As far as I know, you get the $100 discount and and a free ipod.

Does anyone know if they still offer the $100 off for Macs in addition to the free iPod? I'm considering ordering a Macbook Pro 13'' sometime this summer.

"Qualifying Mac"

Does anyone remember what "qualifying Mac" (probably) means? I know it has historically included only new (i.e., not refurbished) Macs, but was it all models? I'm thinking about buying a Mac mini for use as a home server (or media center...I haven't decided yet, and I'm not sure it's a good idea to use one for both... :D), but I have a feeling that if there was one model they wanted to exclude, this would be it.

Won't apply to the mini, at least it didn't last year

I purchased my macbook 3 years ago with this deal, I think it's time for an upgrade!

I don't remember if it was possible w/the previous promotions, but could you purchase more than 1 mac product and still qualify for the 199$ rebate iPod for each mac purchased? Or would it be limited to one per customer? Would be nice to get the iPods as an early xmas gift for the niece and nephew.
