So does this mean I can buy 3 iPod Shuffles? Or wait can I choose any iPod ANY iPod under $199?

Serious question and thanks!

-James

no it's just one product. but you can get a 32gb ipod touch and pay the difference. It would be nice if they will allow the $200 rebate for an ipad. that would really push for students with ipads but I doubt it will happen though.

I purchased my macbook 3 years ago with this deal, I think it's time for an upgrade!

I don't remember if it was possible w/the previous promotions, but could you purchase more than 1 mac product and still qualify for the 199$ rebate iPod for each mac purchased? Or would it be limited to one per customer? Would be nice to get the iPods as an early xmas gift for the niece and nephew.

if not in one single transaction, you could definitely do it separately. just go to another sales associate to ring up the 2nd macbook.

P.S.

HUGE thumbs down for it not applying to the ipad. but i can see why not, since they are selling like hotcakes. next summer for sure.

Not true. The iPods cost a lot less than $199 to make, so giving those away is cheaper than giving away the more expensive iPads, even at discount. Also, they probably want to get rid of them because new ones will come out pretty soon, whereas the iPad is a brand new device.

Yep, I think you got it right. It would have been really nice to get a nice discount off of an iPad, but it is a brand new device that is in very high demand. So why on earth would Apple really want to discount it?

James,

You can only ring up one of each type. In store they take a copy of your drivers license, people do get banned for trying to cheat the system. They will also catch it when you process the rebate. Online, it may be easier to cheat the system if you can convince a relative to use a different address/different named debit/credit card.

As for the iPods, shuffles would only be one, as would anything under value of $199. You are eligible for one single product, and if the value of that product is below the maximum rebate, then you will be sent a check for the retail value of the iPod you chose.

Great :D I'm definitely getting one before next semester. Just going to wait and see if they update iWork & iLife this summer before making the purchase.

Getting my graduate a 13" - But I am looking for used 13" myself

We've been waiting for this sale....going to get a 13" today for my daughter's grad.

NOTE: If you happen to be upgrading,....I'm in the hunt for a used 13" Unibody.

Can you get both a $200 iPod rebate & $100 printer rebate or are you only limited to one? I noticed they're mail-in rebates. I would feel silly if I made purchase and then found out I can only receive one of the rebates.

It's a wonderful deal either way! I'm thankful Apple has such discounts for students. I've been considering a PC notebook for next semester but with these Apple discounts (I could easilly resell the iPod, I already own an iTouch :p) I would actually save money over the Sony Vaio I was considering.

Is this sale not premature? Maybe its for Apple to cash in on sales of apps within appstore for iPod Touch, as well as current MacBook refresh.

So after September 17th the 13"MBP may get refreshed; possibly with a Core i5ULV cpu; hoping!!

It says you must purchase them together. But it says, on the terms and conditions form:
Your computer and iPod purchases must appear on the
same receipt. Online orders may ship separately. In this case,
include all relevant invoices.

This suggests that it may not be apparent to Apple when items were purchased in one order online, if you're submitting two invoices anyway.

If I buy the two items online, one after the other (thus separately), the mac in the education store and the ipod in the normal store....

....will it work? Anyone actually try this?

Also, on a different note, what's the best printer to buy for resale value? ie what sells? thanks

The U.K store hasn't updated yet :( Is this offer going to be updated globally?

I'm holding out for the next iMac 21.5" rev. Bring on WWDC!

I was going to buy a macbook pro this weekend - but now i think id be mad to as this deal will surely be in the UK at some point. In the past has it always run at the same time as the USA promotion?

In the terms and conditions, it says they're giving away second gen iPod touches! Is the difference between second and third gen that big anyways (not like there's anything I can do...unless...are the boxes for second and third gen the same? I could return the iPod at Wal Mart and say it was a gift and have $ to buy a third gen? I don't think this will work though)?

Last year I was able to get both and see no reason why you can't get both this year.

One gripe I have is that list price that Apple charges for printers is grossly high, about 2X that of Amazon. So, although they claim it is a $100 rebate, it is effectively more like $50.

Can you get both a $200 iPod rebate & $100 printer rebate or are you only limited to one? I noticed they're mail-in rebates. I would feel silly if I made purchase and then found out I can only receive one of the rebates.
