The Touch may soon get a camera, but the current offering is an awesome little device for those who don't have one. And what the heck, if you're buying a Mac that you need anyway, they give you the iPod free.

That is because the 8GB iPod Touch they sell in the store is the 2nd generation. There has never been a 3rd generation 8GB iPod Touch.

I assume that you can use the $200 toward a 3rd Generation iPod Touch (32GB/64GB) if you would like. In fact, you may want to do this so that you can have a iPod Touch that supports multitasking in the next OS upgrade (since only the 3rd generation supports it).

When I bought my 2008 macbook, I tried to get a student discount. Guess they considered the seminary I went to, too small to be considered a real school for them, and maybe because I was also in my late 30's at the time; they thought I was joking. Oh well.

But seriously - they are talking about all the in-roads the ipad could make into education (with ibook publishers, etc) and they won't give a student discount on it? Oh wait, they can't keep up with current demand on a failure 🙄 product, what if all the schools and students really opt for it this year.
 
At least OS4 will still work for the 8GB Touch. If it didn't that would have been a massive deal breaker.

But now this pressures me into deciding on what MBP I want/need.

Can I still get one?

I just ordered a 13 in MBP with my education discount last week online and received it Thursday. Is there anyway I am still eligible to get a free iPod Touch? I would have waited 4 days to get a free iPod if I would have known!
 
I'm in the same boat as Treyjustice. I bought my first MBP 2 days ago.

I also called the hotline about an hour ago but was on hold too long and then I hung up. I'll try back later.

after last year's price cut at WWDC, why would anyone buy an Apple computer right before WWDC? it just baffles the mind. it's like you're asking for a reason to complain how you got screwed
