mostly shows how valuable those headphones are or in this case actually NOT
I know it's probably not a popular opinion, but it really drives me crazy that only students qualify for all of these back to school discounts on electronics. What a crock. I didn't get any discounts when I was in school.
$50? I doubt it's more than $14-15.Considering it costs Apple (Beats), let's say, $50 to make the headphones (probably less) this is a screaming deal for Apple. They get rid of inventory and make the customer feel like they're getting something for nothing, instead of giving an actual discount on something decent.
More Apple smoke and mirrors.
Wow. You really got a discount of $116 and you spin it like you got a discount of over $300. Who in their right mind pays $200 for those headphones? You really think those headphones are worth that much? Come on man.You guys are all hilarious. This is a pretty sweet deal.
I took advantage of it and got my brother-in-law (who is heading to law school) a Retina Macbook this week. He was excited to get the laptop... and crazy excited about the headphones. On his own he would have never purchased a nice pair of headphones like this.
Also... keep in mind that you still get education discounts on top of everything.
Here's how my bill went:
Macbook: $1299 - $50 student discount
Applecare: $249 - $66 student discount
Solo2 Headphones: $199.95 - $199.95 student discount
USB VGA Multiport adapter: $79
Incase Neoprene Sleeve: $39.95
Sub-total: $1550.95
Tax: $85.50
Total: $1636.45
In total we got over $300 in discounts. This purchase would have been near $2000 without Apple's education discounts and the Beats deal.
All-in-all my brother-in-law gets to start law school (which he worked really hard to get into) with a brand new swanky laptop and some sweet headphones for a really good price. Two things he wouldn't have ever been able to afford on his own.
I'm happy, and so is he![]()
Perhaps because they aren't that for many others?Apple Watch. Apple Music. Beats Headphones. 3 of the worst ever Apple products launched so close to each other. :smh:
Fair enough but if you get a 100.00 gc you are still going to buy an apple product and that product will still have a significant profit margin, not like you could trade it for cashConsidering it costs Apple (Beats), let's say, $50 to make the headphones (probably less) this is a screaming deal for Apple. It may be a decent deal if you're in the market for Beats headphones, for all others it's bloatware and a lost opportunity to get a much needed discount on new hardware. You guys really don't understand that getting the headphones is somewhat of a decent deal, do you?
You act like the $200 headphones costs them nothing. You and me both. This is just another way for Apple to keep more money in the bank. Do they really want to have to pay out developers when people spend those iTunes gift cards? Of course not.

My guess is depending in your state. Are they charging taxes on the headphones MSRP despite them being free?
Come on man are you dense? The whole reason apple bought beats for a BUNCH of money was because kids were paying for them a lot of money before Apple bought them even though they are just decent sounding in the first place. So yes, a lot of people buy them. You only hear kids nowadays that they want beats not generic headphones as gifts. It's a fashion accessory.Wow. We all know you got your abacus on sale freshman year 15% off.I know it's probably not a popular opinion, but it really drives me crazy that only students qualify for all of these back to school discounts on electronics. What a crock. I didn't get any discounts when I was in school.
Eligible Macs include the iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Pro. The Mac mini, refurbished Macs, iPads, and iPhones are excluded from the 2015 Back to School program.

Oh OH, I get it.. Apple has a lot of inventory to dispose of! giving the **** away is the only way to clear the shelves...
