Do you one better... How about the exact same shoe for both of your feet, so one shoe for all feet?

But anyone who buys anything other than AirPods will be looked down upon and criticized in these forums, even if the other products would fit their ears better.

I suspect that many AirPods supporters are willfully accepting less than ideal fit so they can justify having the Apple chip. These people may also play with technicalities, i.e. word salad:

They loosened enough that I have to nudge them back in my ear every few minutes, but they did not completely fall out of my ear and onto the ground, so technically I can say "they never fell out of my ears".

AirPods fit the way I like it in one ear but keep coming loose in the other ear, so technically I can say "AirPods fit my ear just fine".

Honestly,

The AirPods fit my ears much better than really Earpods ever did. Still not a secure fit. The reason and the only 2 reasons I purchased the Airpods (after the first year of release) was for these reasons:

Great audio quality during calls - I'm sorry I've been using Bluetooth headphones since the original big honker from Ericsson (you know the company that created Bluetooth after the Viking knicknamed due to many languages and prowess for trade)! Airpods are STILL the ONLY ones that doesn't make your voice seem muffled, or far away from a mic to the other party on the call!
> doesn't matter if I'm on iPhone,
> Ciso IP Communicator over Win10 on Lenovo T460/470/480/X1C 5gen,
> ShoreTel Soft-Phone on T460.
> 2015 MBP + iCloud joined AirPods.

This includes headsets from Ericsson, SonyEricsson, Motorola (1st company to make true wireless headphones to be honest yet horribly failed), Apple AirPods, B&O H8 1st edition, etc. over 40 in total over the years.

Independent use ear-to-ear.
So far ONLY the Samsung 2018 Buds have this ability to use voice/music independent of which pod is in which ear. The competition uses Master-Slave mentality which BLOWS.

I had high hopes for the E8's in-ear B&O's ... look up the largest thread on these forums you'll see I've HATED them after spending $450 CAN and got just 2 wks of use - an update rendered the left earbud useless (only statis and hiss)! Then 4-6wks for a return policy ... like B&O doesn't trust their customers that purchased from one of their biggest retail stores on Davenport Rd near Bay Street (yes Davenport turns into Bay street near Church in Toronto: it's their flagship store)! I have to send in the faulty model wait 4-6wks paying for the shipping out (afer $450CAN for the product) to get a new pair - which I immediately sold on kijiji BNIB.

THAT was an insult!

With Apple you're not just paying for a quality product ... your paying for proppah manufacturer support and warranty were youre hard earned dollar is NOT insulted with old-school practices. Apple screws up, a lot! BUT they TRUELY get customer service since 2000!

Can I go swimming in them? Why are waterproof headphones with short cables so difficult to find? I have a waterproof iPod Shuffle, tiny thing, great to clip on my goggles. But I cannot find a pair of waterproof headphones with a short or retractable cable. Instead, they all have metres of wire. Where do I stick that, down my trunks?

I didn’t have the original AirPods so I bought these with the wireless case and the next day, these get rumoured. I know it’s a rumour, it’s not confirmed, but I’d really like to know if it would be worth waiting for these instead. Though I really was not impressed with the Powerbeats 3 which had really poor build quality and the BeatsX had that weird neck strap thing. I hope we get a pic in two weeks at the very least.

So, did they buy the competitor to compete with themselves? Guess time will tell.

No, they bought Beats for two reasons: To get a jump on music streaming and for the Beats headphone business (missed by most folks then and now). The Beats purchase was an ingenious financial move as, with Beats, Apple is now the largest seller of wireless headphones in the world, and owns the majority of the premium headphone market (>$200). Hugely profitable business with the large markups, and now that wireless headphones are the largest portion of the market and growing exponentially, a great visionary move by Cook, et al.

Let's not forget the genius and marketing of Dre and Iovine before and after the acquisition.

If these new PowerBeats have the same ridiculous over the ear loop - Apple can keep them!

Hmm I may have to revisit this thought.

I'd like to see sweat resistance, longer battery life, imprrroved microphones, gyroscope - there are STILL some iOS users or Android users that like PowerBeats and don't own a smart-watch and need fitness centric data for health. Heart sensor in the Ear is much more accurate thatn on top of wrist.

Sorry Logi KB sucks on Windows right now.

I'd just really like to see renders of what they'll look like.

Actually looking forward to this as a maybe better integrated alternative to Bose SoundSport Free.

Anything is a better alternative to those Frankenstein units. I doubt the sound is any better than Jabra's units but the enormous size with no improvement in battery life against competitors and how horribly ugly the design is ... keep it.

What's stopping apple from offering Airpods in this form factor as an alternative and call them Active Airpods or something similar. Beats branding seem redundant especially since Apple branding is much more recognizable and perceived to be more premium.

Beats branding redundant? LMAO
NBA franchise membership and authorized headphones of players.
Global brand for headphones (wired, wireless, or over ear/on ear) above all other brands: Do you really think Apple can compare? Nope they cannot not yet. We wait until Xmas for their BIG announcement to compete with Sennheiser, Sony and B&O premium studio quality headphones.

Can someone explain what the purpose was of Apple buying Beats that they couldn't design on their own?
What is the return on investment (ROI) on the $ 3 billion purchase? Curated this or curated that was very big in the beginning had died out in conversations also.
So what did Apple really gain by Beats?

I don't have quantitive numbers for you but the ROE:
Co Branding with NBA, NFL,
Helping to sell MB/MBP's for back to school events to help push the brand name recognition since Apple's ONLY foray into speakers/headphones are:
EarPods
iPod base speaker (over a decade ago)
AirPods (after Beats)
HomePod (after Beats)

Take a look at Beats1 recordings and interviews, take a look at the NBA commercials and players entering stadiums (such as Lebron) using Beats (not AirPods) ... and you get the idea. In fact ... stop by any local high school in or outside your area in US, Canada, UK, France, and you'll see the number of kids using Beats.

Brand name recognition and enforcement is much more powerful than a single product because it leads to repeat sales for a brand recognized. Ask anyone else that uses iOS/TVOS/WatchOS/MacOS and ask them aside from AirPods or EarPods what other speakers/headphones Apple makes ... I'll bet you after 50 ppl asked not half would even remember the HomePod.

"Apple won't be cannibalizing its own AirPods sales because Powerbeats are designed for working out, running, and other athletic activities that aren't really meant for AirPods."

I don't get that. I have both, and PowerBeats work perfectly fine in situations that AREN'T working out, running and other athletic activities. In fact, PowerBeats are far more flexible than Airpods are.

Can you say the same with call quality vs AirPods in-home/outside with noise and wind or cars whipping by?
[doublepost=1554318724][/doublepost]
This will be awesome. I have the Powerbeats 3 and held out on the AirPods due to no noise cancelation. Being an avid runner in the Northeast, I am confined to the treadmill at the gym and I used to hear ever stride with my old Apple headphones

PowerBeats does not offer noise cancellation.
