Black Friday for me is throwing stuff on ebay. It's easy enough to order online but didn't see much this year.

Regarding Apple's: Weren't the ipad pro's (12") heavily discounted last year as well? I think I paid much less and also had the discover apple pay thing going. BTW..discover gave me 2500 recently from matching. Paying more a year later for the same product is pretty sad..

The iPad 4 came out Nov 2nd, 2012. I picked it up 3 weeks later on black friday and got a $50 gift card. That wasn't bad for a brand new $500 item. That was also my most recent Apple purchase, since they haven't released anything I liked since.

This new Apple is just so pathetic.

The outrageous UK pricing of the new MacBook Pro's (15" in particular) is nothing to do with currency, it's just greed.

So in the US, the 15" base model is USD 2399 before sales tax.

According to XE this is now GBP 1929

In the UK, the same model is GBP 2349 which includes GBP 392 in VAT meaning that Apple is pocketing GBP 1957.

So you are getting outraged about them pocketing an extra 28 quid per computer?

£1 went from around $1.70 to as low as $1.21 and even now that it's performing a bit better it's still only at around $1.24.
It hasn't been $1.70 to £1 since about October 2008. We've gone from $1.50 to $1.25 since the Brexit vote on 23rd June, which is a 16% decrease.

Apple whacked up the price of some products before they released the 2016 MacBook Pros, but raised them further still after that release.

What got me is that Apple increased the price of refurbished models. These were products they must've already had in stock (because it's a customer return or DOA etc.), and thus had already paid for (in whatever currency they bought them at the time). How can they justify slapping £500 on a refurbished Late-2013 Mac Pro that hasn't cost them anything more (and, is using 3-year-old technology anyway)?

What will it take for people to realize Apple only cares about money and not the customers? I'm a huge Apple fan but their actions lately make me question my future with them

It's far more than £28!

As an example, the 13" MBP 8GB RAM & 512GB config has a base price of £1949, the older model was about £1599 and that included 16GB RAM as standard. If I want to add 8GB upgrade to the new 13" model, that adds another £180. Adding Apple Care means I won't get much change out of £2500. That's an increase of more than £500.

Pricing for the 15" models and options are even worse.

It doesn't work the other way though. When the dollar was doing really badly for a number of years, we didn't see any benefit in the UK. We only see price hikes & disproportionate increases.

Apple are not the only one's guilty of this of course, but American companies love to fleece us Brits at any given opportunity.

The outrageous UK pricing of the new MacBook Pro's (15" in particular) is nothing to do with currency, it's just greed.

Apple is an "equal opportunity fleecer"; their insatiable greed seems to know no international border or currency bounds.

I'll just wait for people to buy stuff they don't need for a tiny discount, only to sell it on e.g. eBay in pristine condition with the text "didn't know what to use it for".

Typical of Apple but you can get some good deals elsewhere. Original Apple Watch - which still works great especially with the OS sucking less - is super cheap lots of places.

Apple never lets you combine different discounts/promotions

I've used a $100 gift card, gotten the education discount, and an extra $75 dollars off of a 2015 13-inch MacBook last summer. Amazing what you can do when you spend a couple hours talking to Apple reps on the phone. ;)

Apple's Black Friday "event" always leaves much to be desired. This year is no exception.

I'm potentially in the market for another ATV4 and upgrading my iPad Mini 2 to the 4. But I'll certainly look elsewhere as what Apple is offering doesn't compare to other retailers.

I don't know, Apple's Black Friday worked out okay for us. We'd been discussing getting the Apple TV 4 and had $80 in gift cards that we had not used yet. After sales tax, we paid $75 out of pocket for the ATV while applying the 3 gift cards for $80 that we hadn't done anything with in nearly a year, and now we'll receive a new $25 gift card to use some time later on down the line. Works for us. I guess the only thing that could have been better was if Target would have accepted our Apple gift cards for their 25% discounted ATV 4.

Black Friday deals (not just Apple's) are getting less and less relevant. When we have Black Friday deals in July, clearly retailers have over used the concept.

As for Apple's, its rather pathetic
Anybody with half a brain cell knows that if you want the best deal on Apple products that you go anywhere BUT Apple.

Pedestrian.

And since one-word comments are verboten, I'll add that I'm thankful I can use a military discount.

Your military discount applies in store only. It doesn't Apply to online orders, which in this case, it wouldn't be an advantage for you unless you went to the store physically. Also, can a military discount apply to a promotional offer such as this? Because I don't believe you can use discounts with promotional offers.

If Apple cared about its customers they would have a sale for items people actually want to buy, not a lame attempt to move old inventory. Or instead, if Apple cared about its retail employees, they would just close for the day, like REI. But the reality is that Apple cares about nobody or nothing except their bottom line.
