Hankey actually righted the ship coming off Ives and the godly mess that was "flat design". iOS was steadily improving up to around 16 when it just hit a wall as Williams took over. 17 introduced more bugs than anything and 18 just piled on the mess. 26 hasn't done anything.

So I guess it's just all bad news now and this is the kind of software mess we are subject to.

Ive was responsible for the disaster of the 2013 Macpro.
Even if he came up with the idea are you really suggesting no one else inside Apple — not Phil Schiller, Craig Federighi or any of the hardware chiefs — had the ability to say no bad idea? Also it was Schiller, on stage at WWDC, who when introducing this MacPro who had the infamous “can’t innovate my a**” line. That fall Jeff Williams narrated a video highlighting how the product was made. Obviously Apple made the wrong bet here but at the time they were proud of it and thought it was innovative.

Tim seems to be the type of guy that would defend the process so he can keep going instead of looking at products that are useful and serve a purpose for the greater society.

Health…good. The Watch came out not utterly focused, was it a health gadget, a fashion piece of jewelry? It took some time, and testing in production.

AR…stepping stone to something better, but needs to get it to production to recoup some costs. It’s like he played Pokémon GO and built an executive strategy around it.

I know I will sound like a broken record, but I would love it if they brought Scott Forstall back to the game.

Personally, I would also love to see someone new take over the design team...I know, contradictory to what I just said, but I am wanting something completly new. I also want an OS that really works. Right now, I am on the betas for everything...and I can deal with MOST bugs...and I 100% get that I am on the beta...but HomeKit bugs are such a no go...I have a really intricate HomeKit set up and every single time I update...my entire house goes into chaos. Haha.
At this point I wasn’t the biggest Forestall fan, but he’d have way more of a clue than Tim Cook has. Tim lives in his own little bubble… He’s not a leader, he’s just a puppet for the shareholder that also don’t have a clue.

I couldn't agree more with this. He cares more about shareholders than the end users. And it's seriously gotten frustrating.

Who thought that would be a good design choice? Make an ugly camera then add a giant credit card in a different color 🤦🏻‍♂️
From a structural standpoint this looks like a good rumor. The aluminum wraps around the sides for a stronger frame despite the thinness. The inside "credit card" is glass to accommodate wireless charging. I like the idea of less glass and more metal.

Not like he would keep the iPad Air 2 around forever…
…or have time for it…just ask Ive.
I miss the iPad Air 2 design, particularly in white. Only issue is the impossible change to make the camera good.

I hope not. The Touch Bar Mac is the last MacBook he worked on.
A Macbook Peo version of the Zenbook Pro Duo would be awesome, but Ive’s touch bar execution was poorly executed being way too conservative and tremendously weakly supported by Apple’s first party apps.

It made much more sense to be a separate SKU with Apple Silcon combined with Apple Pencil support and maybe touch screen support for prosumers such as creative professionals and engineers

Being my corp machine for a few years before the current modern Mac Pros, I find that Mac Pro significantly better than the Mac Studio in form factor and design.

Loved they brought back a desktop tower Mac Pro in 2019 nonetheless…

It made more sense to me for that to be the the Mac Pro mini that complimented the current Mac Pro with PCIe GPU support that supported Nvidia/Intel/AMD GPUs.

It's interesting that many commentators here seem to underestimate the monumental effort and risks involved in transitioning Apple's entire product line to its own silicon, especially while managing that transition during the pandemic and its associated supply chain disruptions. Regardless of whether Tim Cook is viewed as a product visionary, he was the right leader for that challenging period.

In summary, there seems to be a prevalent "what have you done for me lately" attitude in the comments.
