California has nothing better than anywhere else. Except Ca. is a better blood sucking leech than the other 49 states. Being that California is a 1000+ miles away why should I or the products I buy and use conform to California specs?
Why should/do things I buy cost more because of the loonies in California?

Why do you think that other states funds and federal money should go prop up California?…….your NOT entitled to my money or any other US citizens money….

Better yet….your not entitled period, though California thinks it is……
California should be allowed to collapse under their own stupidity and the other states should not be expected to bail them out.

Thanks for proving my point. You're lost in your hatred. Here's something for you to chew on. California is the 12th largest economy in the world. If you think the country is better off without CA, you need help.

I think the latest commercials are lame... they are among the most lame I've ever seen by them. Contrastingly - commercials I've seen for the Windows tablet make me laugh out loud. They are really good commercials. Apple's commercials used to rock. I don't know what this new "this is our signature" crap is supposed to stimulate in people except for those of us who are firmly entrenched in the cult of all things Apple. People outside the cult are like, "whu?"

Bottom line - the average consumer out there isn't sure which phone to get. Some people who have never considered a smart phone are thinking about it - but they think the $99-299 cheaper alternative is "the same as an iPhone" because it has a touch screen.

The competitors commercials ROCK because they're showing customers that Apple's "can't do that" when Apple should be countering with what they CAN do like they've done before.

Folks 40 and up are getting iPhones because they're easier to use. Younger kids are getting Android because their parents are using the iPhone so it's now "lame." Apple needs to penetrate the market w/ ads to lure young people back into the fold and also to show ease of use for the older crowd.

Let me translate that for you! For every Federal tax dollar that California PAID, California only got back 78 cents. Conversely, for every Federal tax dollar that Tennessee paid, Tennessee got back $1.27!

We Californians (and 17 other states) are tired of propping up YOUR ass, Tennessee!

Mark

LOL ! Good one.

Wrong Oh……90% or more of cars sold outside of California and do not meet Ca. regulations…..We don't have nor had air pollution issues where I live….

Goodness.. you remind me of the people that spent billions of dollars fixing up computer systems in preparation for Y2K, and when the millennium turned and the world didn't end, they screamed "Oh my god! We wasted all that money!"

.. sigh.

12th largest FAIING economy. Nope no help needed, unlike California.

And yes the rest of the country would not only survive without California but prosper with the lose.

California clearly has a case of 'The Big Head.' So much so Apple left out the USA part of Designed in California.

Welcome to California, where everything is as fake as Palosi's smile.

it's the lack of new things that's scoring poorly with Apple.

I understand why Apple moved everything to Fall, but in today's tech 9 months without a single new product is A LONG TIME.

it's moving in the path of RIM's Blackberry. it took them so long to come up with the Q10. it was too little too late. Really hope this won't be Apple's fate.

how will it do good, if they dont add something great in it, they should show more features or what they are planning or they can make it a bit funny

California... Meh...

Made in America. I'm proud of that. Proudly made in California... Not such a big fan. I like the fact that Apple comes out of there but a lot of other stuff coming out of California is lacking. The rest of the Nation is not quite as liberal as California would like us to be.

I think the ads are pretty good, personally: they do a good job at stating what Apple is all about... Whether the focus on "a few great things," rather than a plethora of mediocre products or that their focus is on the experience, rather than some trivial metric like screen size.

It's also nice to see Apple take the high road this time around and not keep doing the whole "OMG! Our competition sucks! Look at this one feature we have!" snarkyness that seems all too common today. I also applaud their keeping it serious, since most ads these days remind me of open mic night at some amateur comedy club.

Re: Designed by Apple in California - I'm not quite sure why so many people have a problem with this either. It's not some flag waving, or call to patriotism. It literally is their signature! It's no different than Sony's "It's a Sony" badges back in the day or HP's (similar to Apple) "Designed by Hewlett-Packard" stamped on pretty much all their machines.

And, of course you completely left out the money Palosi and gang siphoned off to California and their own pockets!

Why don't you come to Tennessee and see how much propping up California has provided……plan to stay awhile 'cause it's going to take you a long time.

You guys owe $600B  Who needs help?

The country owes how many trillions? By your logic, we should be part of China. Haters gonna hate.

So you're mad no one cares about Tennessee?

So you're mad no one cares about Tennessee?

Not in the least….see that's the difference, Tennessee does not impose on other states to conform to our standards…..unlike California which seeks to impose their standard on not only other states but the world as well…..loonies, all of you Pro California types.

i'm sure we'll see some great apple ads after the release of iphone 5s, or maybe even before it's release (teasers)

From your tenor, I'm assuming you're a strong supporter of free economy and states' rights. Certainly then, you support California's right to govern its own air, and free economy's result that compliance with California's laws while producing the smallest number of variations of each car results in all USA-destined cars being in compliance?

Jesus, what planet are you from. Few if any car manufacturers make one model for the US anymore. Honda did years ago but not anymore. In fact some car manufacturers don't even sell in California because of the different emission standards. Our 2013 Ford Escape is not California compliant so how do you explain that? A miss print?….. My 2012 Harley is not Ca. approved either….. another miss print?...

"500 VIEWERS"

This isn't an enough large sample IMO.

Read up on the methodology of statistics and polling sometime. If it's a rigorously conducted scientific poll, 500 may be sufficient to get an accurate picture of general consumer responses to the ads.

Having said that, it's been my observation that very few polling firms are sufficiently rigorous in the methods they use, so you are probably right regardless.

As some one else pointed out, it is not the Ad, it is a lack of new and product AND compelling features. As all the product line have evolved specifically the iPhone, the problem is the differences between Apple products and competitors is virtually zero. What are you left to sell with, to make yourself distinct? Designed in California? I personally love the ad, this IS who Apple is an always has been, but I see the problem.

Actually...it's an Ad. I liked it but if I were not a tech enthusiast I would hate it due to its length

Um, usually I side more to the right side of things on online arguments, but I'd just like to note that states like California and NY-where debt is high-pay more into federal taxes than they get back. Coincidentally, many red states, where debt is low, pay less to the feds than they get back, and furthermore, have lower standards of living.

Point: If states like California stopped subsidizing states like yours, their economy would be solvent, and yours would be further drowned in the food stamps that you decry.

That said, I don't like these ads, since I don't understand why it would make me buy a product. It might make me feel good about a brand. I would speculate that these are about product loyalty and the fear of the switch.

Bring back Scott Forstall as CEO, give Time Cook the boot and send Jony Ive back to hardware or let him leave.

They need a vision person. The maps app had problems that were largely out of the control of Forstall. The problem was the map data that they had sourced. If he was the guy who sourced the data then fine but if he wasn't then they axed the wrong guy.

Apple needs to have a driven jerk at the helm who has a grand vision and know what people want before they want it.

Apple needs to stop listening to focus groups and following trends. The icons are a disaster, the flat UI is a usability nightmare and Tim Cook is too much of a softie.

So if the cars you're buying are not California compliant, and so didn't have an extra $25 in parts that you had to pay for, what on earth are you going on about?

Actually, never mind. From this point forward I'll be following the advice of George Carlin. Good day to you, sir.
