Except neither of those things is going to happen. Get over yourself.

And you hate your fellow Americans. Because we live in a state that has policies you disagree with. Got it.

So you have a crystal ball and can predict the future?!?!?!

Well aren't you special………..

So California is the new Black………..so not true…..

The goodness of California is fake right down to the tits on the tarts……..

since the iphone 4s, i haven't really seen any GREAT apple ads. they need to hire some more people to make better ads.

OK I'll enlighten you with one example…..Automobiles.

If an automotive company want to sell a car in California it has to produce two different types….49 state and California. It cost the company more two produce to different products for one country……guess who pays/subsidizes the California model….the other 49 states.

Should be simple enough for even you to understand.

Umm.. I already gave you that one. It's an environmental regulation (emissions standard), and it's important, necessary, and not actually harming you. Since car companies are building to satisfy the toughest emission standard, nobody loses here. If you're worried you're not polluting enough, go burn some coal on your front lawn.

it's the lack of new things that's scoring poorly with Apple

Apple never has been a "Pull from a magic hat" kind of company. Apple had been doing the same for years: making computers that runs their own OS. call it "The iPhone" or "The iMac" is a computer running in it's own OS. it's just more pople knows about Apple and now everyone wants to attack!

I personally like the ad, but I can see why it may not have an appeal. To the general population, the ad is boring. I'd much prefer a shorter version of the video they showed at the start of WWDC.

A young girl alone in her room staring at an iPhone, constantly connected... a woman on the subway with headphones stuck in her ears, who will never have a chance conversation with a stranger... a elementary school kid with an iPad in the classroom, who will never write legibly...

This might just be a British thing, but conversing with strangers on a metro/underground/subway train is a complete no-no.

I like the ad because it captures the essence of what Apple has done well...attention to detail and system integration of all their products into a cohesive ecosystem.

But I can also see how the ad comes across as defensive/desperate too. They have never had to "defend" themselves in the past or chose simply not to.

But times have changed. Competitors like Samsung actually hire hordes of bloggers to bash Apple (actually documented in a news story) and shape public opinion against them. Google does the same thing.

Also, Wallstreet is running stories thru the media outlets daily to erode investor/trader confidence in Apple. This is because Wallstreet wants Tim Cook out. Tim won't roll over and give the rich hedge fund clients part of the cash stash in the form of big dividends. Tim was handpicked by SJ. Wallstreet would rather have "the board" pick a puppet of their choice.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes politically in trying to "hurt" the perception of Apple right now. The barbarians are "at the gates" (and no, I don't mean Bill...).

Wrong Oh……90% or more of cars sold outside of California and do not meet Ca. regulations…..We don't have nor had air pollution issues where I live….
And we do use coal, a lot of it…have you ever heard of the TVA….. go figure.

This is not a Tech issue. It's a parenting one. Parents letting 8 year olds have smart phones, letting toddlers play video games etc.

My nephews go to a school using iPads for texts etc. when they get home they have a snack (afternoon 'tea' is an English tradition my family observes) then they go outside and play. The iPads stay in the house. Depending on the weather they will be outside 1-2 hours and then they come inside and do homework, take turns practicing the piano, dinner etc. no cell phones etc at the table and everyone participates in talking about their day, the nights debate etc. they then get 30 minutes of game time which they more often than not want to use for a group game (helps they are triplets). iPads are locked up at night in dads office, no taking them to bed etc

On the weekends they get a little more time with them, if they want to FaceTime granny or their cousins. But even that is limited to no more than a couple of hours and that long is generally only allowed if Gran is on cause she's teaching the boys to speak Welsh so they say it should count as 'school time'

And they don't fuss about any of this because they were raised this way with the computer, TV etc.

Yes, part of it is parenting, the other part is corporate/consumer standard because of technology.

A 40 year old who is now forced to type instead of hand write papers will eventually lose his skill of hand writing. Heck, I even forgot how to write some letters in cursive. I had to Google search it.

Sounds like a personal problem…….

The irony here is the ad is supposed to highlight Apple's revolutionary devices throughout the computer revolution to today's smartphone... which have enriched people's lives( Yes it includes spin off's like Androids and PC's as well) but from reading the comments and the article looks like it failed to pass that message across...

How sad...

Say what you will about Apple.. but they started it all, took risks, invested time and money not knowing if it will work or not.

And for that... a big salute!

I don't think there's any great hate for California. I don't think there is any great love either. As a global brand, it just rings a false note to put the California location as a primary selling-point.

Does anyone really buy things because of where they are designed? Although there is a certain cachet in buying Scottish salmon, or French porcelain, or a German car, I'm not sure that works for Apple.

For most people, Apple means great products and the originating country makes little enough difference. As I said in my previous post, I cannot help thinking Apple is trying to impress only Californians with this prominent new slogan.

How that works to a UK audience, who are the biggest Apple market outside the USA, I do not know. I doubt it would do much to attract any new custom.

Wen I brought my first Mac in the late '80s I didn't have a clue where it was designed, made or even who S Jobs was. I knew it was the best kit for the job (no pun intended) - Publishing: Pagemaker & Quark XPress, then Illustrator & Photoshop, had the best graphics & colour and looked less beige than IBM PCs!

Living in the UK my answer is: I don't care if Apple products are designed (by a Brit) in California.

I hope to get the new Mac Pro, but I don't care if it is screwed together in the US of A, unless it jacks up the price. Then I will be a bit annoyed. I will buy a Mac Pro for the same reason I have used/bought SE II, 2 Ci, LCII, Pismos, iMacs, Mac Pros... Because they are the best tool for the job and help me work at my most efficient & most creative. If there is a tool that does the job I will look at it, if it is a Hackintosh not designed in California, not made in the US of A but one I can afford it won't be discounted. A fan yes, a blind follower no.

Sense of what?………that California is better than any where else?
Again….Wrong Oh!

No, sense as in you're confused and he's not. You're getting your hatred of the state confused with him saying California is better than anywhere else. The problem here is you. Seems as if you're upset we have better recreational activities to do than Cow tipping, blaming Obama, and watching Doomsday Preppers.

i dont understand why people dislike this amazing ad, i really love it, shows most of the apple' products and their relation with the people, cool ad.

Samsung sure is getting the most of its marketing dollars (via Dan Montopoli).

The company’s latest ad, which began airing June 10, has earned the lowest score of 26 Apple TV ads in the past year, according to Ace Metrix Inc., a consulting firm that analyzes the effectiveness of TV ads through surveys of at least 500 TV viewers.

Ace Metrix? This Ace Metrix?

Ace Metrix™, the new standard in television analytics, today announced Samsung has joined its roster of advertising clients, subscribing to the Ace Metrix LIVE™ platform.

Uh-huh.

Coincidence? Doubtful.

California has nothing better than anywhere else. Except Ca. is a better blood sucking leach than the other 49 states. Being that California is a 1000+ miles away why should I or the products I buy and use conform to California specs?
Why should/do things I buy cost more because of the loonies in California?

Why do you think that other states funds and federal money should go prop up California?…….your NOT entitled to my money or any other US citizens money….

Better yet….your not entitled period, though California thinks it is……
California should be allowed to collapse under their own stupidity and the other states should not be expected to bail them out.

Left out the details that Ace Metrix just signed a deal with Samsuck. So, of course they are going to discredit the Apple ads.

Don't let things like FACTS get in the way of your nonsense!

Let me translate that for you! For every Federal tax dollar that California PAID, California only got back 78 cents. Conversely, for every Federal tax dollar that Tennessee paid, Tennessee got back $1.27!

We Californians (and 17 other states) are tired of propping up YOUR ass, Tennessee!
