But we can trust apple with all our data, they would never use it to nefarious purposes.

They would never monetize our data. Privacy is their core model….

You wont be seeing ad banners flying at you in iOS or macOS, don't worry.

Advertising is fine as long as it is privacy respecting and doesn't follow you around the web or gets sold. Apple has advertising in the App Store. You can opt in if you want App Store ads to be based on apps you like, or it can be anonymous.
How about I chose zero adds? Oh I can’t do that with my premium device I bought? Will I need to pay a fee to remove adds in the future?

Make no mistake: Apple is slowly but gradually and definitely giving up the whole privacy facade they built up (purely for marketing purposes). No, they are not an ounce better than the rest. They just want you to believe they're privacy-conscious so that you give them even more of your data. Once they start focusing more on the services business, it's privacy gone.

Apple is not better than others.

Apple's business model to sell products and services simply allowed them to do the right thing - to protect privacy - that Google and Facebook couldn't do without disrupting their businesses.

Now that Apple is moving more and more into advertising, this whole point is up for debate.

But to suggest privacy has been a facade this whole time is painfully and grossly inaccurate.

Guys don't worry, Siri is perfect, time to let Cue move on to more important things like increased advertising on Apple products.

Streaming, advertising and services alone is what is generating Apple serious money every quarter. This is where serious money is at. Apple has acknowledged that long time ago.

I believe online advertising, in its current form, is a cancer on society. Think how advertising worked before the internet, even before TV and radio. These ad companies buy and sell your behavior data to each other and create predictive models of what you are susceptible, using your weaknesses against you. The entire intent of advertising is behavior modification and manipulation to drive you to give something of value to those that are advertising to you. They have so much data on us, yet we have no visibility of the data that is being used against us.

The platform used for advertising can be misused by people, organizations, and governments without any accountability or awareness to the people targeted.

It way past time to turn the spotlight on this industry and demand people have control over the data of their online behavior, whom has access to it, and the ability to delete it across advertisers.

Apple can still make profits and grow without profiting from advertisements.

If apple never earns a penny in advertisements, apple will still be a profitable company, they will just not grow in the same speed. And there is nothing wrong with this.

If apple stoped growing it would have nothing negative happening to them outside of keeping themselves fro becoming corrupted from advertisement revenue. Like google who had the don’t be evil moto choosing to remove it.

Services will bring a lot of money for Apple in the future. Apple should expand some services to other regions. News+, Fitness+ are not available in many regions outside US.

The advertising situation on IOS devices is already out of control. If you don't buy Apple's Search Ads then your app may not even appear in the App Store Search results. That is outrageous and completely different to how it used to work.

Another one bites the dust? Disney+ and Netflix have announced they're going to roll out plans with ads. The latter is more surprising since they held firm for years on no ads (although if I didn't know better, they said no, but ended up working on ways to get such a plan in)

If Apple does move to advertising on the Apple TV, I won't sub. I don't pay for any streaming service whereby I have to watch adverts.
They technically already do that, but yeah, it's different. Specifically, they advertise their other shows on ATV+, which is completely skippable. I don't mind that Amazon Prime and Disney+ doing this so long as those are skippable. I would prefer if Apple TV+ leaves the "Skip" button available throughout the duration of the ad, but it's something I can work with at least.

I totally forgot News+ was a thing until this article
Me too. AFAIK, it tends to get less notice since it's on Apple One's top tier... Premium, at $30/month. My guess is the Family tier at $20/mo is the most popular. That tier also has Fitness+ which requires an Apple Watch and by extension, an iPhone, of which I have neither.

I guess for Apple "enough" is never enough.
The book How Apple Became a Trillion-Dollar Company and Lost Its Soul is completely 100% correct about this company.
