I don't find the rumored price excessive, especially if you keep the phone for several years. A foldable iPhone is the thing I look forward to most from Apple over the next couple of years.

I love my Fold 6, easily the best phone I've ever had (and that includes past iPhones). The Oppo Find N5 is indeed impressive. Let's see what Apple delivers and hopefully they get the software right too.

Apple is having real competition. Some are somehow reluctant to see it.

Competitors copied and improved Apples iOS functions and ecosystems for years now. They’re offering 120hz refresh rates of screens as a standard.

Yep, don't care about having bigger numbers in any parameter.
How does that 120 Hz refresh help when the software starts to lag after just a year of updates? (Source: I have an Android phone on my desk that I use for development. It started to noticeably lag in spite of not getting any real use except as a debugging platform.)

Offer enough RAM to be futureproof with system updates for years to come.

Tell that to the iphone XS that i replaced after 5.5 years just because I cracked the screen too much. It was working just fine with the latest iOS. Which Android vendor offers 6 years of updates?

Have real working smart assistants and do offer AI-related things Apple was only talking about and was postponed till 2026-27.

Don't care.

Apple only success is their uber loyal faithful who don’t care.

Yep. Mostly don't care.

I don’t think anybody thought amfoldabke iPhone was going to be cheap. Even Samsung’s are expensive right?
Yes, they’re. But I’ll bet that when Apple comes out with a foldable Samsung will lower the prices on theirs an together with the software Samsung will have by then. They will make Apple looking like a Me Too wannabe company they’ve become.

Don’t forget Apple will be using Samsung for their foldable screens.

Ok....everyone in here is allready bitching about the price and why they DONT want one...good for you. You dont have to spend a single dime on it. You still have the right to chose what you buy and if you dont like the idea of foldable why are you complaining about the estimated price of something you have no plans on buying? i dont get the logic in that at all.

Me i've dreamed about an iPhone foldable for years. If i can blend a iPad Mini with an iPhone...im highly instered in that device. That is a concept i love.

Is it going to be expensive...HELL YES IS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE. ITS APPLE...plus its a foldable. A decent foldable is roughtly 2 grand give or take from the other guys.

I love the idea of the Apple Vision Pro. I want one badly...cant afford it! but if i went out today, bought a scratch off ticket and won enough money to buy one, id have one by the end of today, despite me knowing yes its a first gen product. Yes there are apple tax's on it and limitations...yes not everyone is going to run out to the store to buy one of these things...and yes its not exactly practical to use for productivity!

But i like the idea and concept and engineering that went into it and i like how apple does things. I have no doubt the iPhone fold or what ever is going to be called is going to be the best foldable on the market for apple users...because its going to be the only foldable iphone for apple users...

Hell i wont be shocked if it gets delayed a year into 2027 to cash in on the 20th anniversary of the Iphone launch! Just good marketing there!

Look, at this point theres only so much you can do with cell phones. Lets be honest here. A foldable iphone that opens up into an Ipad is a great idea if you ask me, its basically the ultimate thing you can do with the form factor. Outside of that, i dont know what else you can do with an Iphone beyond better camera, battery, procesor and storage.

The three amigos…iPhone, iPad, Mac equals awesome. They compliment each other perfectly.

They’re starting to look a lot like Blackberry, aren’t they?
i can't even begin to understand the mental gymnastics of this statement. how, in what reality, are apple somehow starting to look like blackberry because of an AI stumble? additionally, its not surprising that apple's foldable would be priced at $2300. The Z Fold 6 is priced the same for the 1 TB model, plus foldables require a lot more engineering effort than standard slab phones, and apple in particular invests a lot into their R&D.

Thank you, finally someone being excited for one. I really don't understand how people can live like this, be angry at something they know almost nothing about yet and even have no intention of buying. As for the price, $2k is the price at which all foldables are available. Huawei Mate XT Ultimate costs more than $3k

Don't even try to look for logic here, people who want to bash Apple at all costs don't pay attention to logic at all.

Most Android vendors like Samsung and Google do.
Only Google. Samsung literally takes months after Google releases the final version of a new Android release to update their devices, and with Google accelerating the Android release cadence, that delay will only get worse. Apple's the only smartphone vendor aside from Google to push major updates to all of their supported devices at the same time. Sure Samsung releases security updates each month, but Apple actually adds new features in their non-security focused updates, which is why I like Apple's software cycle. Even after a major version of iOS is released, they continue adding new features to it. They've been doing that for as long as I can remember, but it got accelerated around 8.x when they started doing more regular feature updates.
iOS isn’t a real multitasking OS like Android. So there has to be some work done. Expect a timeframe of 2029-2030, probably later 🤭
iOS is a real multitasking OS. Prior to iOS 7 it wasn't really, but iOS 7 rectified that. You don't need split-screen for it to be considered a true multitasking OS. Plus, who actually uses split-screen? I don't know a single person with an Android phone who actually uses that feature except for maybe once in a blue moon. Even when I used an Android phone as my primary phone I never used the split-screen functionality.

It will meet the same fate as AVP for this price point. Anything above $2000 going to be impossible in the customer market. Most importantly, already foldable are sold for almost $1200-$1400 onwards in most of the places with the top of the line specs (except for the camera module) even with IP68. This is going to decorate the shelves of the Apple Store and collecting dust.

Have you been hurt by a foldable phone? How does it negatively impact your life that they are being created?
They're just stupid and pointless and I'm sick of hearing about them. It's this generation's 3D tv. Gimmicky garbage that won't ever last.

Good Lord! Apple has always been an upmarket marque, but now we're getting into Italian Designer territory. I wouldn't expect an iPhone at this price point to be any more successful than the VisionPro! Hope Apple can provide future iPhones at prices the average working stiff can afford. Who really needs a flip phone anyway? The price increase on the iPhone 16e (SE) took me from an instant adopter to a wait and see the price drop at resellers.
