Apple is having real competition.
There is no competition. Not when Apple rakes in the lion's share of the profits.

Apple only success is their uber loyal faithful who don’t care.
They "don't care" because outside of a few tech nerds most of Apple's customers are comfortable with what Apple offers and don't feel the need to micromanage the kernal level of their phones to get alt app stores that they never go to. They want to turn it on, take some photos, use a few apps and make some calls and play a game or two.

The simplicity of iOS & the iPhone (despite the bungling and attempts to tear it down by the EU Cabal) is the key to the success of the iPhone and, as you put it, their "uber loyal faithful".

From my view over the last several months, the forums comment sections have shown me one thing: Almost everyone is in a bad mood.

Only Google. Samsung literally takes months after Google releases the final version of a new Android release to update their devices, and with Google accelerating the Android release cadence, that delay will only get worse. Apple's the only smartphone vendor aside from Google to push major updates to all of their supported devices at the same time. Sure Samsung releases security updates each month, but Apple actually adds new features in their non-security focused updates, which is why I like Apple's software cycle. Even after a major version of iOS is released, they continue adding new features to it. They've been doing that for as long as I can remember, but it got accelerated around 8.x when they started doing more regular feature updates.

iOS is a real multitasking OS. Prior to iOS 7 it wasn't really, but iOS 7 rectified that. You don't need split-screen for it to be considered a true multitasking OS. Plus, who actually uses split-screen? I don't know a single person with an Android phone who actually uses that feature except for maybe once in a blue moon. Even when I used an Android phone as my primary phone I never used the split-screen functionality.
There are a lot. And it’s quite handy. Here is a good example:

That’s a very greedy standpoint. Certainly when you consider the lack of progress Apple makes.

If Apple was ahead of everyone one else it could justify their premium prices.

Today they’re years behind in software. The software it comes out with is unstable and full of bugs.

Unless someone is a shareholder I can’t imagine any proudness to show.

Some modesty from Apple and an apology for false advertising “made for Apple Intelligence” would be in place.

What a shameful situation.

Twice as much?

So we are going into vision prices on lots more categories

Already I was shocked to see recently that the prices on iPad Pro with keyboard are way above Mac prices

Considering the efficiency of their manufacturing processes and assembly after more than 15 years making iPads it’s amazing to see the devices cost so much

I’d not recommend anything above an iPad Air for the vast majority of people, you’d be throwing good money away.

Not going to sell many foldables at that price point. Good luck Apple 🍎
Need to worry about current blunders such as Siri and AI.

The number of so-called Apple fans on here who don't understand how Apple operates even though they've been doing the same thing for over 40 years at this point is hilarious. There's a reason they're one of the most profitable companies in the world, and it isn't because they listen to people on MacRumors armchair quarterbacking how they design and price their products, or chase Android manufacturers who barf out half-implemented and thought through "innovations" hoping for a hit only to drop most of them after a year or two.

Can't wait for Apple's take on a foldable phone. I fully expect it to start at $1,999 or above.

To everyone comparing it to the Vision Pro. 1) People know what a phone is and what it can do, most people don't know that about headsets. 2) People are already used to paying monthly for phones, I suspect enough people will think there is value in moving from $50-60 a month to $90-100 a month - especially if they think they're getting an iPad built into the phone.

I've had 4 iPhones so far, an XS, a 12 Pro Max, a 13 Pro Max and now an iPhone 15. I've realised that I don't need the camera features of the Pro models, so never again an expensive Pro Max. And definitely not an iPhone Fold for $2300. As I often have my iPad Mini with me, this is the perfect solution when I need a larger screen.

Yet Apple continues to sell iPhones and everything else…
Maybe you need to look at what consumers are really looking for in a smartphone to understand what is driving Apple

Greedy or not it's the truth. When Google, Samsung, Xiomi or any of the other also-rans make anywhere close to $70b in revenue then call it competition.

Til then it's just Apple and the waysides.

I’ve made this very point here several times in the past. If one is not shooting Log video and post-processing files, that person is wasting money on Pro model iPhones. The Plus versions have what 95% of users need, so it’s disappointing it’s going away.

The foldable iPhone projected price is a hard no, forever. I’ll move to Redmagic phones for 25% of the price before I pay these stupid prices.

half implemented and thought through?

I’d say Butterfly Keyboard. So what was that?

That was possibly the biggest engineering fail for laptops in the past 25 years. I’ve never seen anything quite like it but Apple are good at reality distortion and sweeping things under the carpet.

Those butterfly keyboard Macs were a gigantic disaster. It wasn’t just an additional feature gone wrong. But the primary input device for the laptop and it wasn’t easily replaced as the entire top section had to be replaced.

"And the inaugural Darwin Award for Tech 2027 goes to...." *drum roll*
