Apple's Foldable iPhone Rumored to Feature Unrivaled Battery Life

With all of Apple’s drip feeding and bean counting, I’ll believe it when I see it. It’s their first foldable - that’ll be enough for the marketing team in this round.

A longer battery life is literally all I want in my devices. Forget under-screen face ID, dumb AI integrations, or a folding phone. Let me charge the damn thing once a week, and then we'll talk!

Not exactly, a silicon carbon battery will also have a big effect on battery life.

With all the super convenient charging options we have now, why do you feel the need for a device that lasts so obscenely long between charges? If I can get an entire day out of a mobile device, with any type of usage, I'm happy.

You also have to pick up your phone for Face ID though. It doesn’t work if the phone is angled away.

Now think about using Apple Pay. With Face ID you have to double tap the side button, hold up the phone to your face, wait ~1 second for it to scan you, then finally you are ready to pay.

With Touch ID, by the time you have double tapped the side button it has already scanned your finger, so you just tap and go. It’s just way more convenient.

Also FYI you can add fingers from both hands to work with Touch ID so it doesn’t matter which hand you pick it up with.

So for you touchid is more convenient and superior to faceid, that’s fine.
For me, touchid is far less reliable than faceid, simple as that.
And as for Apple Pay, my Apple Watch is far superior to using the phone…

A $2,000 Ultra tier iPhone....that lacks the most fundamental iPhone feature, and replaces it with Side Button Touch ID, which if you've ever used on an iPad Air, is truthfully and without hyperbole the worst user experience Apple has ever shipped.

Actually, iPhone 17 Pro Max has a much superior battery life compared to any Apple iPads. You will never be able to kill this phone in one day. As a matter of fact, all iPhone 17 series minus Air have longer battery life endurance than iPads. But M5 chip inside iPad Pro increased battery life quite a bit.

Well fortunately there’s already Android phones we can look at so we know the effect of two screens on the battery. Over on Android the Z fold gets 10-11 hours. That’s from a 4400mAh battery so the iPhone may be slightly better, but don’t expect 20 hours. Tests have shown it will do about 15% better if you never use the inner screen.
