This video has to be the worst advertisement Apple has ever made. Without a doubt, the worst. Imagining some person emulating the singer behind the scenes to get FaceID to match the facial movements makes me feel sick. And why this song choice? Zero class.

FAKE animoji music videos AREN'T impressive. This just reveals Apple's lack of creativity. If they made similar videos using actual animoji captures from the iPhone X, then that'd be cool. But these are really dumb, and are borderline false advertising.

I think they’re cool but I agree. It is borderline false advertising.

I just bought Apple stocks. Bring it on Apple ! Nothing is too stupid as long as it makes money.

Still having some hope for the MacBook Pro lineup though ... small hopes ... a man is still allowed to dream... right?
How many shares and what price?

Steve would be weirded out by the strange directions Apple has taken over the years since his passing
Hahaha...nice speculation. Someone post the video of Steven demoing some face software.

Tim Cook wanted to remove "dirty jokes" from Carpool Karaoke. He must not have seen the Amigos ad. The content of the song, the explicit language used... great now let's broadcast it to 26 Million viewers to show parents how family friendly Apple is.
Lol, maybe he’s like me and doesn’t hear or “mentally process” the lyrics of half the songs he listens to. Though my best guess is Tim Cook has very little to do with any of this. And I did think these were amusing. The unicorns were...interesting.

There are songs I’ve loved for 30 years whose lyrics I still can’t quite make out or I just tune out. Occasionally I’ll come across a lyrics sheet and be completely surprised.

You should have seen the look on my face when somebody explained to me what the song “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood was about. I’d bought the single at a little record store back in 1984 and had no clue for about a year. I just liked the sound of the music, never really paid attention to the lyrics. It may as well been 1884, for all that I understood the song until my friend found out I was clueless and proceeded to explain. “Private Dancer” sung by Tina Turner— I thought it was about a dance instructor. Bahahaha. Really. She enunciated the words clearly and I heard them but never thought too much about the meaning.

I just don’t listen that closely to lyrics.

Sometimes it works the opposite and I hear clean lyrics as kind of dirty. I got an innocent Elton John song so very very wrong once.

So did someone lip-sync the words of the songs to create these? Or did they get the original artists?

Not sure I agree with that. Steve embraced and was amused by similar things over the years. But I do agree that there appears to be a pattern of Apple going after what's "cool" in order to look cool. That's a weak approach.

It’s funny. Apple thinks something is “hip” and they throw it up there without listening to all lyrics and considering what the rap music is saying. Lol

Well then! That’s awkward

Almost all rap songs has a "dirty" version and "clean" version, usually just a few words "fo show" but some songs can be almost pornographic in content compared to the radio version.

It’s also the concepts if not the language. Syrup, Broccoli, Molly...not dirty words but drug references. I wonder if Apple just doesn’t care their marketing glorifies and encourages drug use. Oh, and liking large a$$’s.

Apple is run by nerdy men my age. Do you think I am going to know broccoli refers to drugs and not the vegetable? All I heard was a song about stir fry. I was surprised young people would rap about cooking but I figured, why not? I take it the song was not about cooking? And the funny thing is I do on occasion listen to rap. But I listen to Christian rap that has positive messages. Though not about cooking. ;)

Well yeah... that song contained the words “p*ssy” and “n*gga”. I don’t know how that made it through the entire production process and got released.

Adweek has both ads: http://www.adweek.com/creativity/ap...minated-songs-in-amusing-ads-for-the-grammys/

To quote a movie title for the answer so appropriate to Apple's executive staff ...

"Dear White People ... "

Yes I'll probably be reported for this and hated on yet with the original ad making it through production and uploaded to youtube using a word such as "n*gga" pretty much tells the world where Apple's real heart lies and well Apple with so many ads of Blacks featured just is not having that. What I meant by using that movie title is here is were more people with experience, education and culture SHOULD be in the top lineup at Apple or any company and less overlap for ridiculous roles.

So if I'm going to be reported understand all of that and the correct context of my post. I'll challenge any ban as well as I know this is relative and not directed at anyone personally or directly in this thread or the forums at all. And no I'm not a racist, my family and upbringing is so much better than that.

Peace.

Don’t give them ideas for a type of keynote experience :D

I don't understand---are you saying if there were more black executives running Apple this ad would not have been posted?

Is that because black people understand the music and lyrics so much better? Pretty stereotypical of you to suggest.

A lot of younger white people (including me) could tell the ad contained dodgy lyrics. The point is Apple wants to look hip, with it, cool, whatever, and marketing made what it, in my opinion, a boo-boo.

It's....not.....all....about.....race.
