Apple's iPad 2 On Sale at Retail Stores

Limited supply or not (and it sounds like many stores will sell out of them, or at least run out of some configurations), if someone wants something when it's available, they're willing to stand in a line for a bit. I'm considering checking a store or two on the way home to see if they still have any in stock.
Kudos to you; you're a true testament to the Apple-bashing Hype Machine.
Just got home from Walmart. #2 in line and only waited for 1hr. Local Apple store had over 300 in line. I feel pretty good right about now. 
No 64gb made locally available?
Apparently, Apple doesn't want my money. For various reasons I'm looking for a 3G 64gb GSM model, and there were none available in my local area.
The nearest Apple retail stores are over 150 miles (in any direction) so I'm forced to rely on Best Buy, Target, AT&T and Wal-Mart, and not a single store received a 64gb model, WIFI or 3G.
Unfortunately due to their retail push I decided not to order online this morning, thinking an adequate supply would be available; of course now there are shipping delays for weeks, which is disappointing.

I stood in line for the IPad 1 in San Antonio, even though I knew I was not going to buy one. Just wanted to say I was there on launch day.

I like to have things when they are available as well. In fact, I ordered an iPad 1 the first day, and it was delivered to me the day it was released at retail (30 April 2010). This is how it should have gone down, to help people save time and to make sure they got the model they wanted, two very beneficial things to consumers I think.
They had the time. For example, they did it the right way when it came to the Verizon iPhone, and the space between the announcement and sale was about the same as this. However, Apple got burned by the Verizon iPhone launch and NEEDED to have lines and the free publicity it generates, so they cooked up this little scheme.
With that said, if someone was willing to suck it up, and know they were exchanging their dignity to be the first to get the new iPad, so be it.

I disagree. Just like New Years Eve marches across the USA, so does the IPad 2 release. Apple marketing is brilliant!
Target in Florida & AT&T in Florida
My local Target here in Florida had 2 people in line, and the two guys selling the iPad 2 said that across the US Target stores had only been allocated White, 16GB, WiFi iPad 2s.
So, if that is what you are looking for, try Target.
The local AT&T store here only got a few allocated and they were all spoken for by the half-dozen people in line there at 4pm.

People in line most certainly have smartphones. Houston Galleria store has 1000 people in line as of 1 hr ago.

Got 1 of 4 at my local Walmart. I was first in line (got there at 4:15) and got the only white one. They only had 64gig Wifi. I'm trying to cancel my on line order right now. If I'm not able to then I'll sell it when it comes in.

Tell that to the competition that's just been set even further back by Apple's "nothing new" product.
I was just at the Woodlands Mall, and the line was just about outside the doors. Not 1000 people though, probably around 500. I was there for an hour, and the line quadrupled in that time. Here's hoping everyone goes home happy.
He's right - there isn't really anything new on the iPad 2 from the iPad. Just the hardware, and the software.
