Went to target to get some personal items, was torn about getting one because I refuse to stand in line for anything didn't for none of my iPhones. And wasn't for an iPad so something told me to go to the electronics dept. What do u kno bought a white 16 wifi in 1 min. Cashier said see had 4 more and store only received 12 all white 16gb wifi.

My Local Target had quite a few...

The Target in Warrington, PA had at least 30 and a lot of white. I got a 32GB White 3G. So, the claims that Target had no 3Gs is not exactly true.

My Best Buy in a northern Detroit suburb had hundreds. I arrived at 2:30 and was fourth in line. Had to wait in the cold for an hour and a half, but had my iPad 64gb 3G with a leather smart cover by 5:15. Well worth the wait. Guess we got lucky on supply. Our local Apple store had nearly 100 by lunchtime.

Aafes!

Got my White Ipad 64GB2 today TAX Free through AAFES and for $689 (10 dollars cheaper) and used a promo code online for 6.90 cents off!

waiting in like at the apple store in clarendon, va.. they ran out about 25-30 people ahead of me.. just broke down and ordered a 64 gb online.

i think i may switch to the 16gb one..

How far back in line were you?

About 100 people still lined up at the Crabtree Mall (Raleigh, NC) location at 8 according to a tweet from local NBC station....https://twitter.com/#!/NBC17

I think I am glad that I ordered it online (even with the delay), considering it would been Sunday before I could to get to an Apple store.....

The Target by me (PV Mall) only had 10 Black 32GB WiFi only models.

Went to Best Buy and the line was 200+ deep but very well organized.
They only had 5 of each color in the 16GB and 32GB WiFi only models. Those were already claimed by the time I got there.
They had a ton of the 3G models (VZW and AT&T) in all memory and color configs.
I was looking for a 16GB WiFi only in either color and those were simple not available anywhere I went to.
The Walmart across the street from Best Buy had no iPads at all, only accessories.

Guess I'll be waiting until the next round of shipments come in.

I went to the Apple Store in Suburban Square in Ardmore, PA.

They sold out of the AT&T 3g 64GB white within 20 minutes. At least 200 people when I got there waiting, they sold out pretty fast, I left empty handed.

My local AT&T in only got in 3 iPads...none where 64GB, which is why I went all the way to Ardmore.

Above poster from Warrington is not too far from me, I might try the local Targets tomorrow to find 64GB White 3G AT&T. I need 2.

I almost pulled the trigger ordering online...2-3 weeks seems like an eternity though.

About 125-150 people lined up at the Naperville, IL store ( suburb of Chicago ). They gave out tickets for specific models. Within the first 45 minutes they ran out. But they allowed people to go in and play with the floor models. There were around 12 or so setup, both black and white. Quite a healthy foot traffic around those 12 models, people having a lot of fun with feeling the iPad 2, playing with the apps etc. It was quite a festive atmosphere.
By 7 P.M. the line had emptied out having been fully serviced. I talked one gentleman who bought one and he said he stood in line for 2 hours and when he was given the token the white ones were already out.

Here are some pictures of the scene.

No sure why, but our Best Buy in Springfield Illinois had at least 100. The sales guy told me that 50 of them were the 16 gig whites & blacks and the rest were various colors & sizes WiFi only and WiFi-3G They limited 2 per customer. I got a 32 gig black WiFi for me and another to 32 gig white WiFi to sell. Our Best Buy is very busy, so I'm wondering if that is the reason they received so many.

I got my iPad 2 (32 GB white) at the Arden Fair Apple Store in Sacramento, CA a few hours ago.

Here's what I witnessed:

1) A relatively short line that got REALLY long by 5 pm.
2) Crazy Apple Store employees running out of the store around the mall and back around 4:45 pm.
3) The inside of the store so noisy I could barely think!

Walked into Best Buy in Amarillo, TX around 9pm, was out of there by 920pm.

16GB Black Wifi + 3g Verizon

Not a bad day at all. No lines. woohoo! :D

I showed up at about 4:00 PM at my local rural Walmart and I was first in line. When they started selling at 5:00 PM there were 3 of us in line and they had 3 iPad 2 WiFi models. I got a 64 GB, an older lady got the other 64 GB and the other guy got the 32 GB model. They were all black ones.

I guess things are just different up in the rural Black Hills area and people just don't get as excited about this kind of stuff. Anyhow I am happy I got one and only waited an hour!

Apple IPad 2 Gray Marketers First in Lines...

There is an explanation for today's hype. Here is from Bloomberg:

When Apple Inc. (AAPL) releases a product, the store lines are typically led by fanboys clamoring to be first with the latest gadget. At the downtown San Francisco store for the iPad 2 debut, the gray market got there first.

Dennis Ng, 20, said he was being paid $10 an hour to arrive before 5 a.m. on the day Apple began selling the device at its stores. He said he was in a group of about 35 mostly Chinese immigrants at the front of the line, waiting to buy the iPad for somebody else. Resales of new electronics in countries where they’re not yet available feed the so-called gray market.

Sweet and easy! Just got lucky.

Got one for my wife's coming birthday on monday at Best Buy Bridgewater, NJ.
Arrived at 415PM, surprised not so much people on the line and left the store before 530PM. Some on the line behind me just left the Apple store from neaby Mall saying it's overcrowded and chaotic.

We're lucky to have one we like that is so sweet and easy from Best Buy.
