Didn't he "yep" the earlier rumor too?

Sounds like confirmation bias to me - he gets credit when he's right, but doesn't get dinged when he's wrong. For all we know he's schizophrenic and walks around saying "yep!" all day.

No he didnt, in fact Wednesday he said he was going to an early lunch because he wasnt expecting anything cool in his email, which is when everybody realized that the invitations were not going out that day. The only thing he has yepped about with regard to the ipad mini was that there were going to be two events one in september for the iphone and one in october for ipad mini, which is what is happening. I've been following this stuff for a long time and I dont think he has ever yepped something that wasn't true, so until he does I take everything as rumor until Jim yeps it and then I plan accordingly.

If this Mini has retina I will definitely be getting one. My gut tells me Apple will release it with retina. It would be weird to release a new product without retina.

I was going to say where are these supposed invites? Still we will wait and see if they get sent next week.

Personally I'm still deciding on weather to put a Kindle Fire HD 7" or a Nexus 7 on my Christmas list? I think the iPad Mini will cost too much.

The Nexus 7 is not designed to make Google money, it's all about making money from Google Play, same with the Kindle Fire HD. Apple makes its money from hardware, the App and music stores, merely enable more wonderful from their hardware.
Unfortunately, this fairy tale does not quite hold up. Apple is selling the exact same digital goodies and barely makes profit off of them. Amazon and Google cannot charge a higher price for music, movies or apps, so they cannot make much more money from digital sales, either. Amazon at least have physical goods to sell, but its margins on those are very low, too.

Right... and then there are 100 millions of idiots/sheep you just do what Apple tells them to do.

We have heard the "Apple Is successful Because People Are Stupid Theory" before.

inasmuch as burberry and louis vuitton are successful because people are stupid, the argument makes sense.

They (apple) make great products but for the majority of people buying them, they are just status symbols.

This "Yep" guy is always a day late and a dollar short. If you're so connected, how about YOU break the story or post the info instead of riding on the coat tails of all things D.

you must be new here. do some research on who he is and why he's always right.

Fairy tale? It's not me living in fairy land, it's people who don't understand business models. Don't believe me? Go do a quick Google search on profit on these devices if you don't believe me, or I'll help you, here's Jeff Bezos confirming this. This isn't news, it's just confirming what (most) everyone already knows.

This is just a guess.
No one outside Apple knows for sure.

And in saying this Apple already has an iPad mini. It's called the iPod Touch. This inbetweener everyone wants I think is ludicrous. Too small for a large tablet. Too large to fit in your pocket.

Add on the fact I have seen not one proper inbetween sized iPad part leak rumour in this website. Makes me think that "if" there is an Apple event soon, it won't be iPad inbetween.

But what else is there to chat about?
Apple brand television? Possible but again lots of rumours but no part leaks. Could be a Mac event and unveiling a new Mac Pro but yeah very few rumours about this. So I really have lots of ideas what this supposed Apple event will not be about. But I really have no idea what it could be about.

The Loop's Jim Dalrymple weighs in, confirming the date with a "Yep."

Are you not aware of how inappropriate it is to use one rumor source to 'confirm' another rumor source? Only an authorized apple representative can confirm or deny. The rest of us, including Macrumors and Jim Dalrymple, can only add our guesses. Obvious some have better 'sources' and thus a much better record at guessing, but in the end, all are guesses. Please use the word 'confirm' appropriately.

Yep this the we all know.
But it nice to see who thought what. And who was right and wrong after the event (or non-event) whatever it happens to be.

This kind of rumour trail does have it's advantages. It shows what people think they want from Apple in the future. Of cause Apple does not do focus groups (that is a good thing), but even Apple (I guess) would say the kind of info gathered from these rumours (about people's wants) could be rather useful.

Where are the masses clamoring for a 7" iPad? There weren't any, but there will be as soon as it's released.

I dunno, maybe they're just not clamoring here. I know my 18 year old daughter would like one, current iPad is just a little too big for her to slip into the kind of purse she normally carries. I think a 7" iPad will definitely find a place.

But Apple doesn't give the people what they want. Apple gives the people what Apple wants them to want.

...theres a difference between "the people", and "tech nerd enthusiasts on rumor sites". the two's wants are not alike. my dad and family members dont give a crap about most of the stuff people on here go on about. many techies arent good at empathizing with others and dont realize this point.

That's a valid observation (Apple is a status label, which commands a price premium as a result), but different from the one I was responding to (Apple ignores what people actually want). The only reason brands become "status" brands is because they have earned it in the past by delivering superior products. At some point, the brand just becomes "trusted", at which point the brand itself thus has value. But all that does is allow the brand to charge a price premium for good product, not to create invalid product.

This inbetweener everyone wants I think is ludicrous. Too small for a large tablet. Too large to fit in your pocket.

Right...because the other smaller 7" tablets that are out there don't have a market at all, right? Just because it's not something you want doesn't mean there aren't millions of people that do.

This analogy has been used before but what if TV manufacturers only produced a 24" flat screen and a 60" flat screen, don't you think there's a market for a 32 or 48" screen? Sure, if only the 2 options were available, you'd have to settle for one or the other, but maybe not completely satisfied.

If Apple does launch a 7" iPad, people will vote with their wallets and it will fly or sink.

sorry, but comparing a product line starting at $0 to louis vuitton is just stupid. iphones are an affordable, practical tool. a tool that both works very well and has a build quality superior to other tools. it's more like a high-end power tool at the hardware store than an elitist designer purse. the fact that practically anyone in the market can afford one is proof of this.

is it so hard for you to admit that people just like you value their tools? or must you continue the uber-nerd behavior of thinking that only YOU own tools for righteous reasons and everyone ELSE is just a dumb follower. so passe.
