For those that are considering not upgrading to iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max. Consider watching this video, please.

I don't see much here that makes me want to bother upgrading from my 12 Pro. Sure there are some improvements here and there but my phone kind of just does everything I care about it doing well enough now. Even my battery is still doing OK with 89% health left. I can probably go another year before replacing that too. Besides, I like the mute switch and don't really want that to change, I'm also OK with lightning as I just have everything already. The zoom on the camera is the only thing I think I'd care about and even that doesn't move the needle a lot for me. Phones are a mature product now and the incremental changes we see now make it not worth bothering to upgrade in any less than 4 year jumps anymore. I might even wait until the 17 or 18 at this rate.

so another 5 or so weeks and we can put all the rumors behind us ...
at this point I doubt I'll upgrade from my 13PM
I need something half the size of the the current Dynamic Island or total under display camera + Face ID.

And definitely USB-C with better than 2.0 specs.

And 8GB RAM.

So, with all those in mind, my next upgrade is not going to be any of the 2023 iPhones.

Realistically, I might be waiting 3+ years.

I just can’t get excited for iPhones anymore, even if Apple always puts on a great show for the iPhone events.

🤷‍♂️

I'm scared, excited and curious as to what type of USB-C standard Apple will use. As much as people are getting excited, the rumors are pointing to TB3 instead of TB4 which is on the iPads.

With ProRes and ProRaw now standard on iPhones, the transfer speeds from iPhone to Mac or iPhone to PC or iPhone to iPad will be significantly faster.

With the rumor of 256 GB being standard, I'm also curious if Apple releases 2TB storage to the mix. Making the iPhone the first smartphone to have 2TB of NMVE Flash storage.

Truth be told, this what would have to happen in order to make me switch from 14 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max

1. Bump screen size to 6.9"
2. A17 [8-Core CPU/8-Core GPU]
3. 8GB RAM
4. 256 GB, 512 GB, 1TB, 2TB Storage
5. Midnight Black, Silver, Gold, Ocean Blue
5. ProRes video recording up to 4K at 60 fps (1080p at 60 fps for 256GB storage)
6. 8K Video Recording at 30 fps

I'm down for a 15 Pro IF AND ONLY IF we don't get another price increase in the UK AND it starts with 256GB.
While I don’t exactly get why the everywhere-but-in-the-USA price increase in essentially all new Apple products was necessary, or didn’t result as a consequence of increasing prices in the US, I thoroughly expect iPhone 15 prices to increase additionally outside the US if Apple raises them for US customers.

We might not see price increases for every single iPhone in the 2023 lineup.

But as someone not buying Apple in the US, I’ve always come to expect some kind of price increase.

Discussions of whether Apple should or what the worth of an iPhone actually is are pointless as consumer demand has not ceased since the introduction of the $999 iPhone.

I’m short, I’m expecting price increases for most iPhones 15, in and outside the US.

Nah, there high chance will be a price increase and base storage of 128GB.
Considering Apple reported multi-billion-dollar profit again this year, the 15 iPhones could stay at the same price.
Why settle at the same price when they can just skyrocket it to make much more?
It looks better if the iPhone improves and the price remains the same when there is room to increase market share from Android devices. If they sell more 15 iPhones they can make the same profit.
Again, why settle at the same profit when you can easily make much more? Marketshare was, is, and will never be apple’s focus.

I might upgrade to a 15 Pro Max if it really does end up having USB-C. It would be nice to finally have every device on the same charging type. Otherwise, I guess another year of the 11 Pro Max because the update doesn't sound too exciting.

I don't know about that. While they don't focus on marketshare, I do think they care about it. They've been able to raise prices and keep profits up, which has offset (for now) whatever unit sales decline they've experienced. But I don't think they've forgotten the Mac days when no one wrote software for the Mac because it had such poor marketshare.

No matter how much profit Apple makes, without marketshare they lose developers. At this point, they're such a juggernaut that marketshare might never be a major factor again (in mobile anyway), but ultimately it's the robust third party app market that makes the iPhone attractive to buyers. We still have the marketshare issue on the Mac side. Despite the Mac being much more popular these days, the vast majority of desktop software developers are only focused on Windows because of its marketshare. Every company cares about marketshare, whether they admit it or not.
