I don’t think a Flip would be innovative, the tech is there, the product is on the market for years. And budget SE is also not an innovation.
I feel like the term "innovation" has been gutted of meaning. Every modest little iteration is now considered an "innovation". There hasn't been anything really innovative in iPhone-land for many years. It's a mature and very refined product at this point.

Whether one believes it's going to be a huge success or not, Vision Pro is innovative. The eye- and hand-tracking UI is innovative. There's nothing innovative about the iPhone these days. Better camera. Faster wifi. Rounded corners. Square corners. Big screen. Small screen. Whatever. None of that is innovation.

I just can’t get excited for iPhones anymore, even if Apple always puts on a great show for the iPhone events.

🤷‍♂️
This is where I find myself as well.

I will still watch the presentation and try to go along with the hype... But I am now at an age where upgrades are driven by necessity and not just the lure of the new.

One of my favorites events every year, even if I don't buy. This year its time to upgrade the family a bit.
Upgrades:
Gold Iphone XS (256GB)--->Silver/White Iphone 15 Pro Max (512GB)
Stainless Steel Apple Watch Series 4, 44MM--->Stainless Steel Apple Watch Series 9 45MM or Black Apple Watch Ultra 2

I want to downsize to have a lighter phone, but once you go Max you can’t go back. I cannot give up all that glorious screen real estate. Will be trading in my 14 Pro Max for a 15 Pro Max.
why you need that "real estate"? your primary device is the phone?

I spend more time on my macbookpro (my main device) so I don't need too much the phone, so I'm happy with the 13 mini, I hate big phones.

Really? I’m thinking trading in my 14 pro max for a 15 pro. I can’t get used to how clumsy the max is to handle in normal daily life activities. I want to get used to it but just can’t ☹️

Apple's annual iPhone event is expected to take place on either Tuesday, September 12, or Wednesday, September 13, this year, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter. With Apple's usual timing, pre-orders for the new iPhones would go live a few days later on Friday, September 15, and a launch would come one week later on September 22.

Apple typically holds its event in the first two weeks of the month, enabling it to launch its new iPhones and book significant revenue before the company's fiscal quarter wraps up at the end of the month, and it appears this year will be no exception. There have, however, been rumors of production challenges, which could mean certain models see very tight supplies or even a slightly later launch.

A report from 9to5Mac last week claimed that multiple carrier partners have blocked employees from taking time off on Wednesday, September 13, in anticipation of a "major smartphone announcement." It's not entirely clear why carrier employee off days would be blocked on an event day, as pre-order and launch days are their busiest times, but it does line up with Gurman's reported schedule.

Apple's iPhone events are most commonly held on Tuesdays, except for weeks that coincide with Labor Day on that Monday in the United States. In those cases, the events are usually held on Wednesdays to allow media to travel on the previous day without interfering with the holiday. Given the rumored week does not include Labor Day this year, that would argue for a Tuesday event on September 12, but it's not out of the question for Apple to opt for a Wednesday event for some reason.

Apple usually sends out media invitations roughly a week advance, so we still have some time before we get official confirmation on the event date, but additional rumors firming things up will likely surface over the next month.

In addition to the iPhone 15 lineup, the September event is expected to include updated Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models, final details and launch dates for iOS 17 and related operating system updates, and perhaps a few other announcements.

You know it used to be fun to antacipate what was going to be coming out. I would actually look forward to the launch events. Now with all the leaks and tearing everything apart to predict when something is coming out, what features will be released and how much it’s going to cost it’s really just ruined it for me.

Don’t read or watch the leaks then 🤷‍♂️
