Apple's iPhone 5 Pre-order Shipping Estimates Slip to Two Weeks

And it just switched from "Status: Pending" to "Status: Preorder Processing". Does anyone know if Premier AT&T members get some sort of perks like priority with preorders? I've been up since 3am trying to order a phone but because I have a business line I have not been able to get through because of their servers. They should at least take that into consideration...

----------

My e-mail says "as soon as Sept. 21st"

I am hoping Premier had its own allotment, if not that as soon as 9/21 is going to be 2 weeks. Any idea if we will get an update on that "as soon as" ********?

Glad i stayed awake this year....wow....thats crazy...theres gonna be a lot of pissed off people tomorrow morning.

Why would they be pissed off? They just have to wait a few weeks. If people throw a tantrum over such things then they just need to grow up.

Can someone tell me why Apple cannot put the infrastructure in to handle such a load. I know the extra capacity will only be tested twice a year - iPhone and iPad launch - but I would think it is worth it for a company with that much money in the bank.

From a server standpoint, it seems easy enough to double the processing power. Is there something dealing with bandwidth or the network that makes this cost prohibitive...if there is such a thing for Apple?

Oh, and if this can be done, they need to call EA and tell them how to do it for Madden. I don't understand that one either.

it could be because of the network outside of apple's infrastructure

Does anyone know when they actually withdraw the funds for preorders? I will not have the available funds until the 20th...I'm hoping it won't be before then...

At the moment my order is still processing (for delivery on the 21st)...

Sounds like you used an Andriod phone to set the alarm. They are known to do that when iphone preorders are at stake .

Haha, no I used my iHome. It usually works great, idk what happened. Really sad though, cause I've been excited for this thing for the past year! haha At least it's a two week wait and not a two month wait.

Does anyone know how AT&T works with their upgrade offer? Does getting the phone in two weeks mean that When the iPhone 6 comes out I'll have to wait two weeks to pre-order? When I went onto the AT&T website to order it (after the fact) they showed I was no eligible for an upgrade, so it should be fine right?

I never purchased an iPhone from anyone other than Apple, but maybe I should have went through AT&T being that they still have release day shipping. UGH! oh well.

If you go through AT&T's website and act like you're going to purchase an iPhone 5 for a new customer...it still says that it will arrive on 9/21/2012

That said, their website has been terrible all freaking night, so I don't think that's a confirmation of much of anything....

Hopefully the shipping date will be firm before the 21st and we can all decide if we want to cancel the preorder and brave an Apple Store line or wait it out.

Woke up at 6am eastern and saw that ordering through Apple takes 2 weeks. Logged into my AT&T account online and ordered instead. Will be here on the 21st.

Mine said the same with 9/21 but also on top was a note "We'll ship your preordered items when they become available".

I certainly expect (hope) they have a Premier allotment.

Does your email say that it will arrive on the 21st, or does it say as soon as the 21st?

re: Apple to ATT

Do you think I should cancel the Apple site order and do it on ATT to get it quicker. Would the subsidy refresh if I cancel the order on apple?

Aight...I feel ya. I'm trying to do the same thing BUT Apple has my order locked down into "received" mode where it can't be changed. That order when through at 3:15 CST and still can't be cancelled yet.

Good luck to you. I'm going to keep after it till I hear solid evidence that ATT has bumped their shipping times...fingers crossed

 Duh...why didn't I just order the 16 GB White one at the same time??

Yeah mine locked too so I'm just going to leave it in.

You can't cancel phone orders online. I wanted to do that as well. Your eligibility for upgrade changed automatically after your order was placed, so even if you could cancel, you may have a problem with upgrading. I think that's the whole reason.

Apple announces iPhone at keynote.
Apple shortly after opens up pre-order for iPhone.
So much demand for iPhone that shipping date slips back to weeks or a month.
When iPhone demand has eased off shipping dates improve.

This happens every iPhone launch. This is NOT news or a rumour. This is just page hit whoring. This website is about "news and rumours you care about"? Well I don't care for this non-rumour attempt at page hit whoring.

After the 4S ordering delay in October, I decided to get up at 4AM EST to order new phones for my wife and son...but my internal clock woke me at 3AM, and by 3.15AM EST, I had ordered both for 9/21 delivery. While I usually curse my internal clock for waking me earlier, today I thanked the clock...it even let me go back to sleep for a bit!

recieved to processing...Apple Orders

My order status still says "We've received your order." When should this change to Processing?

That is the question of the moment? I have no clue and I wish I did so I could get this over with already.

I have a sneaking suspicion it's on purpose as a way to "tranquilize" the servers and keep people from jumping around like crazy...it's prob all part of Apple's "genius" .... but as for me...I'll quote Kurt Douglas..."it's a GD strange kinda love"...in the Snowy River

Shut up....

9 minutes is how long it took me to order at 8am. By which time I was on 2-3 week shipping. Three minutes of Apple site being sticky. I usually queue but can't get time off work next week. Also selling my 4s so will have to be both patient and phoneless for a bit.

AT&T dumping people off grandfathered text plans

AT&T still has inventory as of 6:30am EST, but as you're going through the process they give you an option of either taking the $20 unlimited text plan, or if you have an older plan, the default is pay-per-message. They don't give you an option to continue with your grandfathered text message plan. If you check out through Apple, it's there. Tricksy tricksy, AT&T...

I'll wait the extra week or two and keep my plan as is, thankyouverymuch.

stupid ppl!!!! u could rly sell em another iPhone 4S like in that video and they'd still sell.

lets be honest, i kinda wanted it to "flop" for apple to push innovation again but at this point i understand their "why bother if it sells either way" philosophy ^^
