AT&T comes through!

Got my confirmation from AT&T that mine is sent to shipping for delivery on Sept. 21.

AT&T is doing a fine job at getting the preorders done. The system is also making sure that plans are automatically changed to 4G LTE for the same price.

:D

Hopefully orders accepted in the order in which they were received. My purchase finally went through at the exact cutover point for delivery, so hopefully the estimate was a failsafe for customer satisfaction. It would be grand for folks to get their phones release day or a day or 2 later and Apple would have saved face by forecasting a later delivery than actual delivery. If it's the other way around, then that's when consumers get mad and damn them all to hell. It's smart to spin it like this, if this is what Apple's intention is.

I am in the same boat! My order went in before 4am EST, but after the cut off. I do hope you are right... And I hope apple does right by their loyal customers who by no fault of their own dealt with technical/server/first time pre-order issues.

Does anyone know whether we can upgrade from an unlimited AT&T line and how that will affect our current data since this new phone has LTE?

You can keep your unlimited, and they will throttle you after you reach 5GB/month.

Ordered 10:20am UK time 32gb Black iPhone 5 directly from apple. i didn't check the estimated time. Am i not likely to get it on launch day?

Are many of these people buying the iPhone 5 at non-discounted prices?

I am not eligible for a discounted upgrade from AT&T until mid October. And that is for an iPhone 4. iPhone 4S buyers wouldn't be eligible for an upgrade until much later -- probably May 2013 at the earliest.

However, this phone sold out in an hour.

So are most of the people buying iPhone 4 or less buyers? Or are many people paying the $250+ surcharge to buy?

I am just wondering what is going on....

I ended up getting pissed at the ATT site and just ordered through apple with the 2 week ship time.

ATT seems to work just fine this morning - however it looks like it's already taken my upgrade pricing away.

If I canceled my order through Apple and hoped on the 9/21 ATT time - what are the chances my upgrade pricing would reflect without incident?

I'm guessing 0% - anyone had luck doing this?

I wouldn't chance it. Sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. I would deal with it and hope for the best.

Yeah, lets get one thing clear folks: it's not like they will deliver a bunch oh phones on 9/21, then nothing for two weeks, and then the rest. A lot of people who saw "2 weeks" (or whatever) will get their phones on Monday 9/24

I got up at 12:30 and the Apple Store was working without any issue whatsoever. Clicked through at normal speed without a single error... Ordered two new iPhones with a 9/21 delivery date. Woke up and 4 minutes later was back in bed snoring.

They did the same exact thing to me this morning when I tried to order. I checked my availability to upgrade from my iPhone 4 yesterday, no problem. This morning-Problem! AT&T now says I'm not available for any upgrade.

Here is my case: my wife is eligible, so I got one for her. I will not be until the end of November, so I'll wait until then. I see no reason to pay $250 for two extra months on new phone. I might fork it over if it meant more than just two months, but as it is, I'll just wait. No big deal.

Does Apple use FedEx or UPS? Or does it depend on where you live? I live in NYC.

Verizon may be off

Verizon still says it will deliver on the 21st, but still has not updated pricing on the 4 and 4s. They still have the 32 and 64gb 4s phones up too.

I just Pre-Ordered mine at Radio shack the guy said it would be IN on SEPT 21st and they will get about 10-15 .....No Line outside :) Just me

Online Apple Store order email at 3:21 am

At 10:37: still processing order.

Is everyone else still processing?

Has anyone who ordered through Apple.com during 3 and 5 EST NOT gotten a follow up confirmation email after receiving the initial "processing" email? I still have not, and I assume I'm not alone, I'm just curious.

That's what I am hoping. FedEx seems to be easier to deal with in this part of Brooklyn and its nice that since we live in a secure building, if I am not home, our super can sign for it.

Walmart Screwed Me

Here is my complaint I submitted to Walmart this morning, I can't believe no one knew about their preorders:

I went to Walmart today to pre-order an iPhone like your main page on walmart.com told me I could. I live right next to your Silber location in Houston Texas and was so excited that I could just run over to where I always shop and not have to wake up in the middle of the night to try to get it from someone else. I got there at 7:20am because I assumed there would be a line for the preorder that was supposed to start at 8am. But what I found was appalling, no one knew anything about a preorder. The nice lady in electronics asked around until I was finally put in contact with the store manager Alfredo, who told me that they normally don't make a big deal about launches unless a lot of people call about them and no one has really called about the iPhone. I told him it wasn't a launch but just a preorder that was supposed to start at 8am. He then said that his wireless manager comes in at 8am so if I could wait until about 8:10 am so they could get their cash till ready they should be able to help. How a store manager doesn't know about a nationwide launch posted on the website shocked me. I then take his advice and go wait by the wireless department. While waiting I spoke with another person preparing tills for the morning, who was very nice and helpful, and she informed me that the wireless manager comes in at 5am every morning. I really didn't appreciate being lied to by the store manager saying that the department manager wasn't there yet and being forced to wait for someone that was already there. When he could have just paged the manager to ask her what their process was for the preorder, but instead he blew me off and told me to sit and wait, thanks Alfredo my time is obviously less important than yours. I continue to wait and at a little after 8:10 am Sally your wireless department manager comes to talk to be and tells me there is no preorder and that I needed to go to Apple or AT&T if I wanted to get one. I then showed her the website and how it said to come into the store at 8am 9/14. She continued to say she had not received any information about it but that she would ask her vendors when they came in. She said the best she could do was take me number and give me a call when she hears something. So I'm forced to leave with nothing but disappointment. I hope there is a way your company can resolve this for your customers. I plan on sharing this information with every website/blog/media outlet I can until your company can fix this.

I just usually open a new line and switch it back to my old number. I can afford to pay an extra $15 a month for an empty line for 2 years. Instead of $500 or $600 up front.

Glad to see everyone having success preordering. I'll be waiting in line on launch for a 32gb iPhone 5 Black :D

No I havent. Only that initial email saying: "Your order is being processed". I went on Apple.com specifically http://store.apple.com/us and at the bottom of the page it has link to CHECK YOUR ORDER. I filled in my order number and zip code and my order comes up and it gives me the stages of what has to happen. I'm not too worried.

Is it possible that Apple did not make as many iPhone 5 for whatever reason and thus the very quick sale out?
Also like a great marketer, they intentionally sell out the preorder to get the massive lines at their stores on 9/21 to get more free publicity?

So you rather pay $600 over the course of 2 years plus the price of the iPhone?

16GB $199 + 600 = 799 (Isn't the iPhone w/o contract $649?)

And usually AT&T gives you $100 off if you complete at least 12 months.

So with that in mind, you are basically paying $250 in interest! That's just crazy/stupid.

Edit: That's not including tax/gov fees with your monthly bill.
