Edit: so is this good or bad? :D

I ordered within minutes of the UK store coming online and my order is now shown as processing. Though I never got a confirmation email. I'm not too bothered as I can see the order progressing nicely on my Apple account and the date is still 21st :D

Glad to hear! I can't fall asleep until I see my status change and still see my 21st shipping date. Thankfully I actually dont have anything to do in the am, thank goodness!

I ordered through verizon wireless at about 5:15 Eastern Time. The shipping was noted as 9/21, and the email I got said the same thing. I skipped the apple store since they were quoting 2 weeks. So, try your carrier, maybe you'll have better luck.

It took a lot of patience this morning on the UK iPhone Apple Store and lots of retrying (I wish it would remember my password!!!) but I managed to get an order for one white 64gb and one black 64gb and the status just switched to 'Processing items' and the delivery date has updated to 21st Sept.

Woohoo!!! :D

The issue is whether your carrier's server confirmed your account information on time. If there were issues, then Apple couldn't confirm the right pricing and had to wait on your carrier.

So why even give me a reservation? I could have just kept trying until I got to the checkout page.

I got mine ordered just 40mins after the store being up (took me that long to get through) and mine says 2-3weeks and like others, no confirmation email

Unhappy with at&t

I have a small business att premier account and for some dumba$$ reason I cant upgrade my 3 company phones through Apple.

The Att premier account has been down from the git go except for one time I got logged in and then booted out and its been down ever since "Site Currently Unavailable"!!!

I got in on my iPhone 4 apple store app and ordered a phone for my wife, she's has here own account, no problem at all. Apple Store app would not allow me to up grade the phones on the att premier account.

So the att premier web site is still down and I've been listening the att on hold message for att premier phone support for over an hour and a half now.

Premier service? I THINK NOT!!!!

I'm with you Takn02 - same ***** happened to me with going through apple (At&t's server kept timing out/erroring). Got reservation email from apple at 2:11am CST and then it took them forever to confirm with AT&T so now I got the email of 'ships in 2 weeks' ....

those of you that got in on the "ships in 2 weeks" - what do you think the chances are of it actually shipping prior?

What a disappointing phone.

/sarcasm

Of course it's a "disappointing phone." Pretty much the same design for three years in a row now.

Not saying it's a bad phone, but the iPhone is loosing it's "thing" now. Same old design with specs that have been out there for a while now. Comon Apple let's get back innovating. Enough of the lawsuits. If you want to show up Samsung bring out a kick a$$ phone. Impress with your work, not lawsuits. I would LOVE Sumsung's a$$ to get handed to them with a stellar phone.

If I recall correctly, it took the 4S until morning or afternoon time to start to slip. This release is going to be massive!

I know alot of ppl that skipped the 4s, and even tho we can be a little dissapointed the iphone 5 doesnt offer more, most of those ppl are (like me) still cant wait for it.

My bad, on double checking the order online, I see I used a different billing email address - the email had indeed gone there. Can anyone else in the UK confirm what the earliest order time was for them? The store appeared to be down for me until 08:40 - but my order confirmed at 08:43 shows shipping for 21st still. Once the store was live, the process was slick and incredibly fast - unlike other launches I've tried to order online.

My iPad 3 was processing until 6am launch day. It was delivered at 9am that day.

So i received a "Your order is being processed" email that currently says delivery will be 9/21. Sense its not "processing" can it still change to 2 week delivery??

We knew even with all the complaints this will be the best selling iPhone ever, probably putting Apple back on top of the smart phone list for the next quarter.

Good thing I can't order one yet as I need a newer Mac to sync with

I posted this in the other thread but it may have gotten swallowed up in the rush of posts, so I'll give it a shot here, in case anyone knows the answer:

I preordered on apple.com around 12:45, and by then the shipping had slipped to 2 weeks. (16GB black, Verizon). But around 1:30 I saw everyone saying that you still had a chance of getting it by 9/21 if you ordered through the carrier websites, so I ordered a second one through verizonwireless.com and will just cancel the first one.

Does anyone know if this will cause issues, since obviously you can't have 2 active phones at the same time. Will I be able to cancel the Apple order (say, tomorrow) without messing up the Verizon order? I'm not eligible for an upgrade so I just ordered the full retail price phone with no contract extension, in case that matters.

FYI: all you "late" risers like me who slept in a couple hours & missed the Apple iPhone party, I just ordered a 64GB black from ATT w/ launch day (9/21) delivery date -- or so it was printed. So you might want to try them if you use ATT.

I'm rather perplexed by the pre-order this time b/c Cook is such a wizard at logistics. It makes zero sense that launch day inventory would sell out in a little over an hour in the middle of the night U.S. (3AM eastern!). I'm wondering if the screen parts shortage is more extreme than we thought. But then, why have a large multi-country launch, followed by another large launch a week later. Something seems off. I suppose we'll see if Apple issues a press release on having pre-sold the greatest number of iPhones in a single day in its history.

I got up at 4:30am (EST) as I always do and figured, hour and a half after preorder launch. no problem. Wow! I saw Apple slip to two weeks and went right for the AT&T site. It said "you can still get yours delivered on Sept. 21". I was done preordering within minutes (black 32gb). It's still in "processing". No email yet. Will I get it on 9/21? Out of my hands now.

Incidentally, the many who question if it is a worthy upgrade? I say to each their own. I have a 16gb iP4 that I got 2 years ago, on launch day. I always skip over a generation. Larger screen, A4 to A6, probably more ram, 16 to 32gb, 3G to 4g Lte. For ME, worth it! YMMV.

Edit: just got my confirmation email from AT&T saying my order has been processed and sent to warehouse for shipping. It took about an hour to get the email from preorder if anyone is wondering.

Within 1 hour??

Servers can't even handle the traffic. What will happen next year when people remember the shipping changed happened so quickly?

Their servers better be ready next year!
