That was VERY fast. I wonder how many the initial batch was? 1 million+?
It was also in more countries on launch date (8, I think).

Once transit times are accounted for, users pre-ordering now may not receive their iPhones until nearly two weeks after the official launch date of September 21.
Meaning that they all sold out in the first hour means they limited the stocks to create this.
What does the (GSM) mean in confirmation email?
iPhone 5 32GB Black Slate (GSM)
I got the "Your phone is reserved email" and proceeded to complete my order only to find out it will be shipped in 2 weeks! My phone was reserved before my friend ordered his but he was able to get his shipped 9/21, where I have to wait 2 weeks! How do they choose who gets the "reserved" page and who automatically gets the checkout. I think its kind of unfair that even though I got my confirmation number first, he still gets his shipped first.
I have a quick question. I, hopefully, was one of the first to pre-order the iphone 5. Not really because I'm a die-hard iphone fan, but because I have a basically completely broken and useless Iphone 3g (no S). So I knew that if I didn't pre-order fast I would have to wait 2-3 additional weeks. My question is, is there a difference between pre-ordering thru the network services websites like ATT and the Apple Store? At midnight, the apple store wasn't working but the ATT website was taking pre-orders so I just went ahead and did it there to not waste time. I just want to know if Apple prioritizes on where you pre-ordered it or is it really a first come first served in all the different websites that allow pre-order?
Is this really accurate?? My email does state, "Available to ship: 2 weeks...Delivers Within 5 days after shipping by Standard Shipping", but doesn't Apple historically ship the iPhones overnight when they ship? In other words, 2 weeks from today plus one day for shipping would mean around the 29th?

There is no way they got more orders for the 5 then they did for the 4 for pre-order in the first hour! If you believe that your on some serious Apple Koolaid!
This is Apple creating the illusion that its super popular, and demand outweighs the supply. Meaning that they all sold out in the first hour means they limited the stocks to create this. Kudos to Tim Cook, he is a sales guy.
Personally I think its a stupid move, This phone is now where ahead of the competition like the iphone 4 was, this old strategy will result in people who are on the fence jumping to another product. Apple got it right with the Ipad by providing sufficient supply at launch, if we are moving back to Chinese scalpers snapping up phones.....fark that! I am seriously tired of seeing scalpers outside apple stores buying all the allocation everyday to send overseas and denying actual customers form whom the product was intended for.
This is the first time since the original Iphone that I am serious considering cancelling my pre-order. I'll pop into an Apple store next week, and see what it does for me, but its just lacking the wow factor, and now with this Supply games... seriously contemplating saying stuff it. And I am a huge Apple fan, with every iphone they launched and over a dozen apple products at home at the moment.
Apple gives each carrier an amount to sell via their own stores and online websites that is separate from their own apple.com preorders so you should be fine. The only thing that has happened in the past is that the carriers websites didn't accurately state when they ran out of launch day orders (from their allotment) and were forced to send emails a couple days later to disappointed customers telling them there would be a delay. With how quickly you ordered it shouldnt be a problem.
Yep. I honestly thought hey, I'm looking at a 64 GIG... shouldn't be a big deal, but I guess they are ALL going.Unfortunately, my 64gig black AT&T iPhone 5 is among the first to get the "available to ship: 2 weeks" e-mail, less than an hour after ordering opened up.
I wonder if the 64s are selling fastest.
I got an email that says "Your order is being processed". Is this what people mean by a confirmation? I bought mine off the apple store about 5-10 min after it went live.
I believe there were more countries ordering this time around compared to the 4s. So I wouldn't be surprised if the iphone 5 outsells the 4s.
Waking up at 4:30am to find Apple showing 2 weeks for shipment, I had to choose AT&T directly. I had the worst time ordering on AT&T's site. I had to click on links and buttons dozens of times before the site would load the next page. They cleared my shopping cart 3 times, and I don't remember how many times I had to typed in my credit card number, but supposedly my order finally went through for the 9/21 shipping date. I had to use Chrome because IE and Firefox kept returning an error.
yes. That means it went through

Has anyones order status gone from, "We've recieved your order" to "Processing Order" yet? (Order from Apple)
If so, how long did it take to change?
I just checked the Apple Australia store. It's only the Black models that are sold out of launch allocations here. All the White models are all still available for delivery on the 21st.
