I have the current gen iPod Touch and I only get about 8hrs of battery life and that's with the wifi off most of the time.

Being way too thin isn't good. No bueno

I have one question, could they go for the antennas with the same way like macs? I mean to put the plastic apple logo for antennas and the rest of the phone aluminum ?? It is possible?

Yes but the case will be larger so more battery than current ipod touch

And do you think that is going to make a big difference using it with one hand?

Probably more than difference than using with two hands :) I would venture to say that if you shave 20% of the volume this should reduce the weight so the device should got lighter and that lighter is lighter to carry and use than heavier. Don't you agree?

People must not know Apple if they don't realize they won't release a new iPhone without equal or better battery life.

I'm perfectly fine with iPhone 5s battery life.

Didn't quite understand your first sentence but the second I understood fully! I too, am more than happy with the battery life on my 5s, that's why I am all for a thinner device with the same battery life.

Not bothered in making it thinner. Change the design so I can hold it comfortably without needing a case and dramatically improve the battery life. At the very least it should last a whole day of continuous usage (18 hours for me) without a recharge. If they can make it lighter at the same time then great but that is not a game changer.

I'm kind of surprised this is getting posted as a news story. From the very first leaked bits and cases, all of them looked almost exactly like the current-gen iPod touch in shape and thickness (right down to the camera bump), so I've been assuming it was kind of a given that it was going to look more or less like that with maybe a cooler front. Honestly, I will be more surprised if the back and sides end up not looking at all like the current iPod touch (unless all the leaked stuff is wildly off base, of course).

All else being equal, I'll be happy enough if this turns out to be right. My 5s is a beautiful piece of hardware, but I've always personally felt that the impossible thinness of the 5-gen Touch made it the coolest product Apple has ever made. It's my favorite, at least.

I wonder how this would effect "fragilability" - not a word, but you know what I mean :D
Not to be pedantic, but there is actually a word for that, you know: fragility.

And do you think that is going to make a big difference using it with one hand?

Of course. The device is increasing in all dimensions except depth.

Since its getting larger in width and height, holding the device becomes harder with one hand. The only accommodating factor is depth, or thinness. This device is automatically easier to hold if it is 6mm versus 7.xmm.

There is no 'opinion' to be had on that. Its simple numbers.

And there is a difference between holding it with one hand and using it with one hand.

As it is, with my iPhone 5s, I barely USE IT with just one hand. I may flip through a few things with my thumb...scroll a web page, etc. But 90% of tasks are better suited and more comfortable to holding with one hand, and pointing with the index finger of the other hand. Honestly, this has been the case since the FIRST iPhone.

And I don't see this changing with this device. I'll still be able to hold it with one hand, and scroll a bit with my thumb. I can't reach the top of the screen with my thumb....but then again, can't do that now with a 5s, and can barely do it with a 4S either...not without tilting it forward somewhat.

So the point is moot.

will the camera protrude out like it does on the ipod touch?

theoretically it's possible to build in a small camera. However, with moving to a thinner device thus a thinner camera setup, all the advantages that could be achieved with a thicker device (better optics, and bigger sensor) are just physically not possible.
However, due to improvements in sensor technology and image processing, the pictures could be the same or better than those of the iP5. Still, with a device as thick as the current iP5 or even the Sony Xperia Z2 they could really improve the image quality by a lot (if they wanted to).

The post I originally replied to stated that by making the larger iPhone thinner it would be ease to use with one hand. I simply asked if he thought that 1-2mm would make that much difference. I don't see how making it lighter would make it easier to reach across a larger screen, but that's just me.

How much does thickness have to do with how far your thumb can reach across the screen? We're not talking about something thick to begin with. Shave off 1 mm, will that allow your thumb to reach the extra screen area on a 4.7" screen?

As someone else has already said, it's a 20% decrease in thickness, if the case is truly legitimate. This is consistent with their previous slimming downs. So that's gotta add some credibility.

The one thing all these large android phones have is thinness and pretty large capacity batteries in them.

The increased dimensions of the next iPhone should mean current or larger batteries with much thinner casings! Apples push for all it's products has been longer battery life and i suspect they have finally cracked it with this next one. I think we'll see much longer life now the form factor has caught up. The efficiency of the cpu and screen are going to be amazing as well as we've not seen anything of the smaller die sizes 20nm etc yet and i suspect it's literally mind blowing news.

Iphone 4s <iphone 5s at battery even if iphone 5 has bigger screen thanks to its bigger battery and A7

The phone will be thinner but it's footprint will be larger (due to the larger screen size) and it will thus have a larger battery (footprint-wise) I think they will keep with the 10 hour battery life despite being thinner... a longer battery life is unlikely though... maybe by 1 or 2 hours tops if they do increase it due to a better processor. But they certainly wouldn't shorten it.

Volume = height x width x depth

People seem to forget that you can reduce one dimension, but still get a larger volume if you increase the other two dimensions. Bigger screens = more space for a battery, even in a thinner frame. That's the whole reason Android went to larger screens in the first place. They needed bigger batteries for the early power hungry LTE chips, and were already struggling to match Apple on thinness. Going bigger let them beef up the battery without becoming chunky.

Do you have a source to backup that the only reason that all Android phones got bigger was to fit bigger batteries in?

ENOUGH the iPhone 5 is already thin and slippery enough. now add a even taller lighter device and itll just flip out of your hand in no time.

i rather have a better battery life. redic

Actually my 4S's glass back was WAY more slippery than the aluminum back of my 5 or my 5S. Come to think of it the plastic back of the 3G/3GS was more slippery too... the "5" design has been the least slippery since the original.

Good thing you don't work for Apple or we'd be getting some sort of fat abomination of a phone that lasts 48 hours... if you want long battery life get a flip phone they still give you like 3 weeks of standby time and about 40 hours of talk time.

That would be a bad idea. The only good ideas that the majority consensus agrees upon here are obvious ones.
