Jesus Christ apple

Nobody is saying "I want a thinner phone!"

Everybody is saying "wish my battery could last a day!"

I totally agree. The iPhone is lagging behind competition with battery life and need to step it up.

I'm hoping it's not so thin that the camera has to stick out! I'm pretty happy with how thin the iPhone 5 is already. I'm actually very happy with the iPhone 5 as it is, it operates very smoothly, fast, does everything I need it to. Bigger screen might be a little bit more comfortable on my eyes, but I'm really looking forward to some crazy awesome battery technology.

I haven't been this excited about a new iPhone since the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5. Really loving these rumors. Excited to see what the redesign looks like! :D

Please give me a notification LED...

and please do not take an iPod touch and stuff iPhone components inside, and spend the next 4 months tweaking software to try and maximize battery life...it's time to reveal whats behind. the curtain

don't think you're going to get a notification LED in an iPhone, ever.

majority of consumers have a plethora of notifications coming in from their 100+ apps.

majority of consumers don't clear all their email notifications.

that means the majority of iphones would always have the led blinking.

apple caters to the masses, not niche.

surely there's a jailbreak tweak that turns the flash into a notification light.

you can already use flash for notifications via accessibility settings (although it just flashes during the notification, not like it stays red to let you know you missed something like bbberry)

Do you think that a mm or 2 thinner is going to make that much difference?

Combined with that supposed curved glass non-bezel, it would actually probably give you nearly a centimeter more reach. if the phone is really .7 inches larger, you're only losing about .3 inches in reach. I might be able to live with that and a bit of software trickery...like detection that moves icons toward the hand that's holding the phone by picking up on the palm hitting the side.

Yes, I do want an iPod Touch style iPhone. I hate the sharp corners on the iPhone 4 and 5. The curves of the 5c and iPod Touch are much more comfortable.

I wonder what that's going to do to the camera. Can't mean good things.

Thinness sells more than having a bigger battery, it seems. Oh well, at least it'll look really cool.

I don't get why the battery life complains, my 4S can last one day and a half without charging, I suppose LTE really eats battery?

Of course. The device is increasing in all dimensions except depth.

Since its getting larger in width and height, holding the device becomes harder with one hand. The only accommodating factor is depth, or thinness. This device is automatically easier to hold if it is 6mm versus 7.xmm.

There is no 'opinion' to be had on that. Its simple numbers.

{STUFF}

So the point is moot.

Your argument discounts the two important factors: perspective and human anatomy. True enough, numbers are numbers. But without perspective they're just numbers.

Perspective: Grab a ruler and look at what a 1mm actually is. What you're viewing is 0.14mm wider than a credit card. It's approx. the width of a piece of angel hair pasta. It's ~1/2 the width of the head of a pin. Look at the edge of a penny. That's 1.55mm. That's not enough to affect grip. I'm sorry, it's not.

Human anatomy: The hand can conform around 7mm just as easily as it conforms around 6mm or 10.4mm. I specifically used 10.4mm because that's the thickness of the Moto X. It's actually one of the thicker phones out there and not difficult to hold.

Bolded from your comment: What you wrote is nothing but opinion. None of it is a fact, implied or otherwise.

Take note samsung.

Pun intended?;)

Perhaps you shouldn't take people so literally. It was obvious at the time that LTE and battery life were a major (if not the primary) factor in the decision to go bigger. The only reason for every phone? No, but some artistic license is permissible.

You made a claim. Mac Rumours rules state that any claim bust be backed up with sources when asked, or it will get removed.

You literally said "the whole reason" was because of bigger batteries, you didn't phrase it sarcastically, exaggeratingly, jokingly. You stated it as though it were a fact, you can't just say "dont take people so literally" when I asked for a source.

Oh shut up! Everyone needs to keep their panties on. Apple will make whatever the hell they feel like making and you'll buy it. You know it and I know it. Thinner form factor, same battery life & bigger screen. That's what you're getting so just accept it and move on with your lives. It's just a PHONE.

So tired of hearing "Apple better do this and that". Apple makes the best phones and they will continue doing so. However, not everyone can be pleased.

Why can't the iPhone 6 have better battery life because of the larger screen size? The iPhone 5s and the iPad Air have about the same thickness (actually, the Air is thinner by 0.1mm)

But, the iPad Air has significantly better battery life (although it does have a distinct advantage by not having a cell radio).

What if Apple has done the unthinkable by making it thinner AND increasing battery life? Just a thought.
