Only took Tim 5 years to double down on secrecy...Only a few weeks from launch and zero leaked components. How exiting![]()
Jesus ***** Christ. The rumor cycle for this particular iPhone has been unbearably ridiculous. Major contractions on the daily and summaries of every possible outcome weekly. The hype train on this is a headache, everyone needs to chill out.
No need to be facetious. The discussion was primarily over Apple Pay where it’s a necessity and also one of Apples biggest earners.
It’s all lies. The phone will have Touch ID. Without Touch ID you cannot use Apple Pay. That alone should make everyone realize this is a lie. Touch ID has been integrated way too deep to leave it out on a future flagship phone, or any future iPhones for that matter.
If the iPhone 8 does not have Touch ID, I will eat a large goat.
Agree it's well integrated... BUT Apple pay is not actually dependant on it... the secure enclave talks to the banks... and currently touch ID talks to the Secure enclave on the phone there is no reason it can't be some other biometric....
In fact the Apple Watch has no touch ID... but you can use that to pay.
The Apple Watch is already unlocked and authenticated by the time you are ready to pay. At the point of sale you do not have to authenticate on the watch because it was done when you placed the watch on your hand.
...
Facial recognition is also a bad idea because your phone needs to be close by the nfc reader.
Flows don't have to always be the exact same for every method.
For example, facial could use a technique to the Watch. It could be used to unlock the phone ahead of time, ready to be tapped to pay.
If you wanted to be extra safe, phone sensors could check to make sure it hadn't left your hand since last authentication... same as the Watch.
The Apple Watch is already unlocked and authenticated by the time you are ready to pay. At the point of sale you do not have to authenticate on the watch because it was done when you placed the watch on your hand. However on the phone, at the point of sale you must authenticate every time and using a passcode would be a terrible idea since people could see you typing your code to pay. Facial recognition is also a bad idea because your phone needs to be close by the nfc reader. While their are other methods to authenticate other than a finger, it cannot be argued that the finger isn’t the most secure and seamless way to pay, because it is.
Nope, it runs everything just fine.
If faster is better then why did it take you forever to reply?! You definitely need an upgrade!Well, for some people - "just fine" is good enough. For me - faster is better. Apparently for most people, buying 80MM+ iPhones every year ...
