Gotta say, that old phone is quite beautiful looking. An homage would be very appropriate, not to mention it would be interesting to see how they might mix the original with their current design trend. Hopefully would produce a artful hybrid and not an abomination.

Apple doesn't do nostalgia.

I am excited to see what Apple does with the glass case. The design of the 4 was just such a game changer, even if it caused issues with the antenna, and improvements to the strength of glass that have been made, when factored into the purported rounded shape of the back, should make it highly crack resistant.

I'd love to see them figure out how to make a super strong ceramic iPhone, in volume, but I'm guessing that's years away.

Picture a water drop, not in air, but flat on a hard surface. Water bead might be a better way to describe it.
Ah, okay- I was picturing a tapered shape narrower at the top. In that case, the current design is pretty much already a water drop design, no? Much flatter than the first gen iPhone of course.

Ah, the water drop design rumours again. That takes me back.

Anybody remember those same rumours for the iPhone 4S?

Ah yea, good times back then.

still have my original iPhone. The battery is shot, wish I would have gotten a new one before they stopped replacing them.

I thought the consensus was Ive's "single pane of glass" look. Either way, as long as its not another 6 6s 7, i'll probably purchase it.

The genius of the original iPhone was that is was curved so it rested nicely in hands BUT the back was flat so it didn't wobble when laying on a flat surface. Seriously my favorite iPhone as far as physical "feel" in-hand... I still have mine.

Hard to see the water drop reference with regards to the external design, but the UI with its 3d shiny icons would be relatively easy to replicate if Apple wanted to.

I'll applaud Apple if they manufacture a phone with a significantly curved piece of glass on the back. 3d glass can't be easy right?

So now we have a curved glass back but flat screen front... ok.... bet they make it really thin though, gotta keep the bar of soap feel?

Meh the iPhone 8 sounds like a really boring design with this rumour, sigh they'll never beat the iPhone 4.

All I gotta say is imagine the current iPhone inside the original housing with the extra space taken up by battery. You'd have a week long battery life per charge!
