Wait, how is that multitasking? He's just switching apps. Right? ProSwitcher was way better. I guess Apple didn't want to copy Palm.

I'm already excited about this update and it's far from being over! Can't wait to pick up my new iPhone with OS 4.0 on it!

10:17AM "Now I want to go to ebay -- I go right to where I left off in the apps, now I want to play a game -- now I want to play a game, Tap Tap Revenge, it keeps me where I was. Again, the game stops, let me go back and look at mail."

Does this mean that the app doesn't run whilst it is in the background or will this be a new API that developers an use? (games want to stop obviously but spotify and streaming apps you'd want to keep active.

Edit 2: 10:20AM "So how did we do this? We're providing seven multitaking services as APIs to developers."

Answered for me! :D

Edit 3:
10:21AM "Until now, if you left the app to go to another one, the music stopped. No longer. Pandora can continue to play music in the background while you switch to apps. And you can use a controller in the lock screen to control Pandora." Pandora's Tim Westergren is up.

Palm Multi-tasking looks way better than that. Even ProSwitcher does.

Anyone know if we can watch this event online? I cannot find it on the Apple website...

And to think, there people who wanted 3 and 4 finger gestures for multitasking! And 2 finger pinching!

Is this real multitasking -- multiple tasks running and consuming CPU cycles and memory at the same time -- or is it just a fancy state-preserving task switcher?? hmmm...

Multitasking looks sweet - but are they running or just being frozen?

Lol how much more do you want it to represent multiple running apps??

Edit: never mind, quoted wrong reply, can't find the right one now.

“We’re providing seven multitasking services. First: background audio streaming.” Talking about Pandora — exactly who should be getting this first! “Pandora is great, but until now if you left Pandora to go to another app, the music would stop.”

FINALLY!

That looks like a taller iPhone they have in their demonstration. Yep. that phone they have is taller. Could it be the new iPhone?
