I've wanted this natively since I got the iPhone. Not excusing how long it took but I'm relieved it's finally happening. And yeah, everyone will extoll it now...

Build a mic into the iPod Touch now and it'll start replacing iPhones on college campuses, I am certain.

If you have wifi and a mic and 4.0 then an iPod can be a cell phone. End of story.

NOOOOOO! is this the old notification system?

:(:(:(:(

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Ooohh Skype in the background. It's not like they couldn't have done the exact same thing with Notifications under 3.x or anything if they'd actually bothered (like Nimbuzz, Meebo, etc).........

If you're driving, shouldn't you be concentrating on the road on what you're doing, instead of being all concerned about your Springsteen and futzing with it?

What will be interesting to watch is how the astroturfers change their anti-iPhone talking points, particularly since Windows Phone 7 Series looks like it will be far behind the iPhone right out of the gate (unless you love lots and lots of screen transition animations and goofy text spilling off the screen, in which case WP7S will reign supreme...).

I suppose the haters will always have "Apple logo on the back" to rage about.

I may have to experiment with this and my 32GB iPod Touch. Home VOIP phone? Yes please! :D

Anyone can throw in features. Doing it right is an entirely different art.

Then tell me who does multitasking wrong? Have you every picked up a Blackberry or Android device.

But I will admit, apples cut and paste is the best in the business for full touchscreen devices.. it is a smart design..

Yep, based on what we've seen so far Apple have done multi-tasking the right way for 90%+ of users. Offer common services (and the two they've shown are the obvious candidates) and app-freeze everything else. The end user won't notice it's not 'true' multitasking and you don't end up killing the hardware or performance.

Now watch the hardcore geeks whine about it not letting them multi-task every single app they ever use at once...

I have, at least Android, and I think they do it wrong. More than a few things open and you have to shut the thing off because it becomes unresponsive.

It's not done right until Apple does it. Just look at cut-and-paste on the iPhone.

ROTFL. More comedy from LTD. Keep it coming!!

So far, the new features look good, looking forward to the rest of the presentation.

You Apple fanatics are funny. It NEVER fails...when the iPhone/iPad lacks an important feature y'all rail on about how it's really not needed...then when the feature is released y'all go crazy over it...while "magically" forgetting the banter about how it wasn't needed.

BTW before I get labeled an Apple hater I bought 2 13" MBP's one for mom and my wife, and a Unibody 15.4 MBP for myself and a 32GB Touch all in the last year, and am buying an iPad for my daughter. I support Apple's products but you fanboys and fangirls are immensely annoying.
