Who needs an iPad? It's just an oversized iPod. It doesn't do as much as a laptop. It doesn't support flash. I can't put a memory card in it. It will be a fail. Not for me, no sir.

Whoa. Sorry, I just had a major deja vu. This site is really humorous to see how so many people have't learned from the past. All the "Yeah, nobody thought the iPad would sell and yet it did, but the iWatch will be different" posts make me chuckle. I'll bet you a year's salary that Apple isn't calling it an iWatch internally, because as Jony Ive said, when you name a product all kinds of baggage comes with it. This will be a wrist-worn iOS device, not a watch. And after it comes out, everyone will say "That was totally obvious!, Why didn't someone think of this before?" People really are funny.

BTW, haven't worn a watch in years, but this could be huge depending on what it is. I'll wait and see.

Battery life is still an issue in its iPhone, does that mean the iPhone 5 is still "in beta" ?

Think ill stick to a watch that lasts five years on a single battery, or better yet, a self winding watch that lasts forever

If you don't want or need the additional functionality that an iWatch might offer, then you are making the best decision for yourself.

I don't wear a watch, so I never have to wind it, change its battery, clean it, or adjust it. I'll give it some thought once I see what Apple's product has to offer.

I don't know what to think about an iWatch, but all the people who compare the battery life to a normal "time-only"-watch and complain that this would have to be charged once a day or a every few days like a iPod nano, iPhone etc. are idiots.

nope.

First off this isn't real.

But if I happen to be wrong, it won't run full iOS. Apple makes a new OS per what your using it for. This is just common sense for anyone who knows Apple. It would most likely just be notification centre with voice replies only. It would charge by your wrist movements and not run apps other than changing songs on your phone and showing messages.

This is just common sense, how long has this website been watching Apple?

Wait till folks find out the iWatch needs an intenet connection to tell time,
an iTunes subscription for holiday info and requires a $50/mo. data plan.

iPad, iPhone, iPod touch all run the iOS. So the argument that Apple makes a new OS for everything is invalid.

Also, remember iPhone runs Mac OS X. This terminology has been said by SJ.

Guess he didnt know what he was talking about either huh.

You seem like the typical "Apple expert".

I agree. The rumored iPhone will be a flop. Who wants to buy a phone from a computer company? It'll probably be really expensive and not have a hardware keyboard. And how many carriers will it be on? Total fail, Apple.

Oh, wait. What were we talking about?

Could the iWatch rumors just be a massive misunderstanding of the word "watch"? Could Apple really be working on a TV device that you are supposed to watch?

I see the iWatch as an interface for voice activations, a NFC alternative scheme, and a notifications screen. I see it as a way to keep the iPhone in your pocket. I see it as something similar also to a bluetooth ear piece.

That's my feeling as well. At least at this stage. In four or five generations who knows.

Same with any iGlasses

4. Apple release a watch which keeps a size thats comfortable for your wrist. People don't buy that. It'll be "underwhelming". Stocks fall.

More like analysts claim it will have features that don't happen and will sell 20 million units on launch weekend. But it only sells 19 million. Analysts will claim supply issues caused underwhelming numbers. Stock falls

"We’re very simple people at Apple. We focus on making the world’s best products and enriching people’s lives. I think some companies — maybe even the one that you mention, maybe they decided that they could do everything. We have to make sure, at Apple, that we stay true to focus, laser focus — we know we can only do great things a few times, only on a few products." -TIM COOK QUOTE

How does an iWatch fit into a "few great things"?! I'm sorry but I really hope these watch rumors are a joke. Apple has made printers, cameras, and gaming consoles in be past that were FLOPS because Apple lost focus...I feel like developing a watch is also bad idea.

Every time we get a rumor about some possible new Apple product the first thing people do is shoot it down, call it rubbish, something they have no intention of buying etc. Seems to me Apple is planning for the future. The PC market isn't really growing. The premium smartphone market is showing signs of saturation. Also the smartphone/tablet space is becoming a lot more competitive with companies in a race to the bottom to provide cheap hardware. What exactly do people want Apple to for the future?

And don't forget no apps, no copy/paste functionally. Totally DOA.

I'm very interested in this..
Not sure if it'll be apple's next big thing like the iphone or ipad were, but I guess we'll see

Which makes we wonder why we haven't seen Apple, Google, or Samsung poor tons of money into battery research. The DOE recently rewarded 120 million for research Link 120 million is nothing to these companies. Why haven't they pursued the same level of investment?

Who says they aren't. It's just not public knowledge. Which makes sense because of the import of batteries in these devices. Battery life, especially long lasting with quicker and cheaper charging, is the killer app for these items. None of this companies will want to tip off the other players to what they are doing. Particularly in this realm

I think this is going to be a big ole bomb....Improve the OS instead and that will sell many more iGadgets.

Apple's getting like it was when Steve had to come back in and take over. Too much inventory carrying costs because the range of what they are selling keeps getting wider and wider.

I think I'd rather own Google Glass than an iWatch at this point. The possibilities with the Glass project seem pretty amazing, get the iWatch thing just seems to be rehashing an existing product and putting it on your wrist instead of in your hand.

What problem does this watch solve?

Can't answer that until we see, or at least hear about, the real thing.

And remember, Apple isn't just about the geeks that hang out on sites like this. Perhaps there is no problem it solves for folks like 'us' but rather one for the vast majority of common folks out there

What problem does this watch solve?

None. But it definitely creates one :D In my current watch, the battery lasts 8 years. Would I want to replace it with a watch that requires charging every 6 days? Highly unlikely.

Because Google glass is the future? I'm sorry but every time I see Sergy Brin wearing those goofy glasses I'm embarrassed.

I don't think google glass will ever be anything more than a curiosity for just that reason. basically just an iwatch you strap to your head.
