There is always Chris Bangle out there. Bangle butt MBP anyone?![]()
Chris Bangle?
I would say that Jobs + Ives leaving their positions WILL hurt Apple within two years.

Wow, what a true loss it would be if he left the company.
To be quite frank - Like it or not Steve and Ive brought Apple back from being irrelevant. Somebody tell me which designer I the house of Apple has the balls to take Ives place? Who can take over Steve Jobs place? Tim Cook? Ha!
Apple is a peculiar company propelled by key people. Yes it's a company and others are behind the scenes - but, these two ARE Apple!

No, he's replaceable. Jobs isn't. There really are other outstanding industrial designers in this world who would LOVE to take Ive's place. In fact, it may be due time for such a change.
I don't care either because if Ive's leaves, Jobs dies, Apple will be bankrupt in 6 years. It won't have the leadership talent to continue as it is.
He's probably earned quite enough money to live more than comfortably for the rest of his life. If he wants to move back to England there's not much Apple can do about it. What can you offer the man who has everything?
Great video clip. Thanks for the link.
I agree with many here who feel that Ive can be replaced more easily than Jobs can. While I think Ive is a great designer, Apple seems to be sort of stuck from a design perspective. Everything they make now seems to be flat and aluminum. Also, their design aesthetic is being relentlessly copied.
When the original iMac first appeared, I thought to myself, "Wow! That's a computer!?" I thought the same when the iMac G4 debuted. Those designs had both a quirkiness to them, and a beauty. The current crop of iMacs (of which I'm an owner) look more utilitarian to me. They're magnificently functional, but I'm stunned by the technological achievement more than any artistic beauty. The design is so minimal that there's really nothing to the computer -- except my own work that I view on the screen. That itself is brilliant. But I guess I miss the quirkiness.
I hope he does leave, cause then you'll all get the good ol failing Apple back, the Apple that very nearly went bust before Jobs returned. Because you seem to want that?
I don't care either because if Ive's leaves, Jobs dies, Apple will be bankrupt in 600 years. It won't have the leadership talent to continue as it is.
I like that, after reading this article, I feel as though Jonny Ive and Steve Jobs are the only two people that work at Apple.
