It's the daily mail, so I take this with a pinch of salt.

Was a really good read though, and for once I didn't want to cry after finishing a daily mail article.... good job? I guess...

'Brit'? Really? Would you use "Yank" to describe Steve Jobs?

If Ive was French, you'd describe him as an "intensely private French man".

If he was French, then "Frog"

Johnny ive is just as important to Apple as Steve jobs is.

No Johnny in 1983 but there was Johnny in 1998 when steve came back

Wouldn't wipe my bum with a copy of The Daily Mail. Horrible, far right-wing, racist and alarmist rag with a well documented history of not just twisting the truth but making it up to justify it's editorial stance.

I'm not quite sure how you feel about The Daily Mail. Could you please elaborate?

Are we 100% sure this story was posted in the Mail? It appears to be missing the obligatory mention of new Princess Diana book/DVD/conspiracy?

Good. Now waiting for the next cunning lie / speculation to disrupt Apple's stock. How about getting back to 'Steve Jobs has 6 - 4 = 2 weeks more to live' ?

The piece didn't contain enough racism for it to be a legitimate Daily Mail article.

Interesting article, although it IS in the Mail, so most of it is made up by a drunk...

I liked his first design, the iToilet... and I'm sure we've all had to put up with some imbecile in a comic relief t-shirt picking apart our stools, err I mean our ideas... where is Comic Relief Toilet Basher™ now eh? nowhere!

Nice mullet though

:D

I think he's as important as Steve. No matter if you'r using apple or not when you see their products the word WOW come to your mind :)

Diana? Nah, that's more the Express' style!

Oddly, if this were a biog about a foreign designer working for a British company, the Daily Mail headline would run along the lines of:

Exclusive: Sponging imigrant "design genius" steals UK workers' jobs!

He reminds me of Arthur Dent: The Sandwich Maker.

+1 on DM bashing. Rag.

Why does this guy have all my hardware in his office? Has it been him shopping my Craigslist postings all along?

disconnect?

An article about long lines for the iPad in the UK, and then one in which Johny Ive is said to have denied the UK his talents. Is there a disconnect here somewhere?

Indeed. I'll probably end up reading the article in a minute, but who's to say how much of it is made up...

'Tangerine had a consultancy contract with the bathroom-fittings company to design a toilet. I was there when Jony made an excellent presentation to this guy who was wearing a red nose because it was Comic Relief day. This clown then decided to throw his weight around and pulled apart Jony’s design. It was ridiculous. Britain lost Jony Ive then and there.’
So if Jony had stayed in the UK he would've been designing Ideal Standard toilets? I think his move to the US and Apple was the best thing he ever did... For all of us!
