the G5 seems a long time ago, it is like bringing up the shortcommings on the Xbox 1, when teh 360 has been out for a while now

Why bring up shortcomings on the original Xbox when shortcomings on the 360 are far more...epic? :p

...and i am sorry to hear your issues with your Apple products, i have only had a mac for 3 months and a ipod for about that time, and no problems so far, hopefully so for a long time. Best of luck.

Please understand how this makes all of your posts rather fanboyant in comparison to my 20+ years with Apple and their computers.

Either way, best of luck and I hope you don't have to go through some of my experiences. :)

Not ambidextrous? :( I like to switch mouse hands during gaming to keep the ole carpal tunnel at bay.

And not Mac compatible? :( :(

I'm a tough old-timer. Hardened throughout... decennia!

Just going by what Logitech's website is telling me. They have a wide assortment of Mac-compatible mice. The 518, per their site, is not.

Perhaps Logitech is joking?

The hardware will work. You won't be able to use the LCC, another can of worms, to use special features or binding.

It works just fine. The branding is only guidance since there's standards to USB design. All the buttons work just fine and I have all of them mapped to various functions, without extra software, in OS X 10.5.7. Apple got this part right, they just conveniently 'forgot' to fix the mouse curve while they were at it... :p

As of the G5? Please, you're making me feel old here. It's the only other 'Pro' line product of Apple that I've owned and it had faults as well that shouldn't have been there. That was the whole point.

Don't make me call the 'age' card...

OS X does a good job with mouse button bindings but I like having my thumb buttons as Cmd + [ or ]. It'll work in the browsers for page forward/back and in Finder.

well i used a apple iie 26 years ago, does that make me better ? does it matter that you that i had 25 years in between with no apples and only PC's
No it doesnt matter how long each of us has used or not used PC's or macs, what is important is how things work

just let me ask you in 20 years you have had 4 problems with macs, that is once evey 5 years seems better than most pc users with pc's

"fanboyant" did you make that up??thats funny!:D
i just am not pro apple......just because i disagree with PC users who think MS can do no wrong.........then i point out that PCs and MS have mad many errors and missteps, only mentioning macs to compare them to PCs, yet i am an apple fanboy???

i think their customer service is bad, this mouse is annoying, i am sure that I will find more things wrong, just because i dont have a list of things that i copy from other pro mac posters like most PC fanbiys do doesnt mean i am in love with Apple.

As i said it is "deflection" the things you feel bad about yourself....err your favorite company you accuse your opponent.....er competing company to your favorite.
People have taken this thread way off, it was about how MS campaign was not about anti MS pro Apple or visa versa.

Glad that y'all have returned to attacking each other.

For a while there I was worried that some of you might not like Aiden....
__________

I am intrigued, though, about this idea of "Astro Surfing".

What a concept, if I can get Microsoft to pay me to write the same personal opinions that I've be writing here for the last 10 years or so....

Yeah because Macs never cra

I've never seen this screen on any of the macs that I've used since '03.
Neither has my brother or my mother and they have all used Mac's longer than me. I don't know a single PC user that hasn't had a machine crash or be seriously sidelined by virus problems.
I've watched my wife's PC's crash, fall victim to viruses, and a host of other things.

It all comes down to tolerance - many Windows users I encounter each day have grown tolerant over the years of these very issues, and have accepted them as indicative to computer operation in general. Those of them who have made the switch are generally elated by the realization that these problems have now become virtually non existent, within a burden free environment, and a greatly enhanced and streamlined user experience. More time spent working and less time tinkering, they tell me.

Haven't you wrapped that up in a nice little package. I'm afraid I have to say I don't have that experience with OS X. After using it for 2.5 years, I find it can lock up and throw out kernel panic screens about as often as my previous Windows installations.

hhhmm i guess thats all a matter of opinion, and also the hardware configuration of your computer (e.g. some hardware configurations are more 'prone' to failing.)

the only kernel panics i have experienced on my 3 year old MBP have been from an external LaCie HD and my uni's crappy VPN software. my household computers including my hackintosh do not get panics at all.. just been lucky with stable computers i guess.

Sorry to hear that - I once had a kernel panic due to a faulty USB device. It was replaced, and the problem was solved. No problems running OS X on over 25 Macs since 10.2 came out. This is not even remotely the case for our systems running Windows.
