Apple's Latest Updates Re-Enable Apple Intelligence on Some Devices

This is a Microsoft-level move, if intended.

They should be ensuring to respect your settings/preferences when doing updates and not "turning things back on that you turned off"
Especially suspicious is that what's getting "turned back on" isn't some random setting, but specifically the half cooked "AI" they are trying to ram down everyone's throat

EXACTLY.....This is why ppl gonna sue apple for this. Personally they should scrap the whole ai feature because its been a problem for everyone not just those who have ai features. BUT thos of us who dont have it on our phones like myself. I have se 2022 and it destroyed the icloud storage. It increased by double for no reason. I continue to report this on feedback page. Apple hasnt fixed it yet and prob wont until a yr or so from now.
Well people can try to sue apple I suppose. But likely will go nowhere.
For sure!!! I remember many yrs ago I couldnt make calls or the calls would drop and I thought it was cuz my phone was so old and didnt have 5G but then I realized later maybe like 1 or 2 yrs later it started working again and I was like dang it was a bug. My phone was iphone 8. But currently I have se 2022 and theres so many bugs in ios 18. Icloud storage bug, messages bug where its not deleting texts from the server end. Usually it takes up to 4 days for text to delete on the server end once u manually delete them yourself from recently deleted but its not doing that. Thats been an issue since 18.2 but I just keep reporting it on feedback page along with the icloud storage bug
I dont think u know how apple works. Theyre currently in lawsuits right now with EU.
iPad Pro 11" 3rd Gen and iPhone 15 Pro Max had Apple I re-enabled after the 18.3.1 update. First thing I did after rebooting was to turn off Apple I.
They (apple) are not ramming anything down “everybody’s throat”. Please don’t include me in your universe of “everybody”. I like the features of apple intelligence

Not respecting the preferences of those who've turned it off is indeed "ramming it down their throat"
If you already had it on ... and it's still "on", nothing has changed for you anyhow

I have always bought the Maximum Storage option for every iPhone. Thus the AI storage is no issue for the use of my device. What I do not appreciate is not having any choice in the matter. If AI is turned off, then the darn AI data base should go away.
The AI data base definitely could impact folks with the smallest storage option on their iPhone.

This didn’t happen to me, because apparently the language settings on my iPad and Siri are different, which prevents Apple AI from being used. The iPad is set to US English, while Siri is set to UK English. I don’t remember doing that, but hey, it prevented me from being forced to use Apple’s crappy AI.
The 15.3.1 update on my M1 MacBook Air DID turn on Apple Idiocy even though I had it switched off before the update. Hopefully I got it turned off before it downloaded the models.
Downgrading back to Sonoma is looking increasingly attractive.
The iPad is not Apple Idiocy capable so it was not affected by its update.

That apple doesn’t respect preferences is noted as well. To me if apple enables a feature I don’t want, I turn it off. Normally don’t crib about it online, but that’s me.

Same here. Not a biggie. If I was annoyed, I certainly wouldn't feel the need to get up on the soapbox and tell the world about it. Life goes on.
This update had one more issue on my iPhone besides Apple Intelligence. I realized realized that my default Siri voice was changed from British female (my long-time preference, even though I am American) to American female. I had to change it back, manually. There are too many default changes for simply a security patch.
This has been such an embarrassingly bad implementation. Amongst other things, they wasted unknown resources on the unnecessary playground and emoji ai apps. I wonder how many never even opened them. There must be features people have asked for that they could have put those resources towards that would actually be beneficial. Apple was forced to rush something AI related to appease stockholders but it's such a half baked attempt. Apple seems so rudderless now. Wasting money on augmented realty goggles no one wanted, they can no longer sell things you don't need like in the old days.
