Firmware for a cable? What the heck? What happened to just plugging in a cable and it just working on its own?
I don't know about the cable but I remember the lighting to hdmi adapter not working with iOS 16 and it was a firmware issue actually...it would pop up eventually on you phone screen.

For those bitching and moaning about the network filter bug in beta 4 of macOS 13.4, now is the time to actually bitch and moan! This kind of bug should NOT be present in final release software.

Yeah, but this is really bad, it's issue after issue after issue after issue.
Correct. This happens every year. Software gets released and people say "why have there been so many bugs lately?" As if it's out of the norm. But I can point to some embarrassing bugs in every piece of software, including in the Forstall years.

Do you have power connected to the camera adapter? Can you verify that your phone is charging through the adapter?

I think the issue has to do with the camera adapter no longer passing power, so USB devices that don't require additional power may still work.
No, I only use the usb port. But the audio converter needs power because there is a small D/A converter and LED on it. I even checked if my phone is charging through the camera adapter when I listen to music and it's also working.

Awesome, this is usually why I don’t update the first day or even the first week. Looks like I gained no features and this time I even lost one I rely on for work. Already regret it!

I hope that is the case, but so far no new firmware update prompt has appeared. I've already updated the adapter to the latest firmware (version 1.0.5) that was released back in early 2017.

I tried downgrading back to iOS 16.4.1, but that failed with an Error 75.
You should still be able to downgrade since May 25 is the most likely date Apple will stop signing it...

Oops! Does their similarly constructed Lightning Digital AV Adapter work? This one:

Of course it doesn't. Because the EU killed all the Lightning devices due to their USB-C insanity. Just wait until they kill USB-C when they decide the whole world should adopt USB-D!
I hope you’re joking.

Neither Apple nor the E.U. want to “kill” Lightning.

-You will find all varieties of Lightning iPhones and accessories in stores up to and beyond the deadline for the switch.

Apple just isn’t allowed to produce and sell new Lightning-only iPhones post the deadline.

But all the Lightning products that hit stores before the deadline are completely unaffected by the legislation.

Additionally, Apple is free to ship all its outdated Lightning only products to countries like the U.S. and sell all its proprietary gizmos there until he’ll freezes over.

Either way, Apple most certainly won’t be blocking any Lightning products from operating to any extent.

This is just them not doing proper testing before releasing a new update.

Apple welcomes the day when consumers see the “get the new USB-C iPhones with USB 3.0 or better data transfer speeds. First time for iPhones -Wow!” headline all over the news and look to their old iPhones and realize they should upgrade from the decades old USB 2.0 tech that Lightning offers.

The shift to USB-C is an opportunity for Apple to get hundreds of millions to upgrade just to escape the proprietary hell that is Lightning.

Time to kill the Lightning port. With USB-C this accessories is totally not needed. Any card reader will do.

Guess what? Most recent iPads have the USB-C port already and have been supporting generic card readers very well.

I adore how the Apple super fans keep arguing for scenarios that aren’t on the table and not even Apple has addressed or publicly argued for at any point.

-Apple has been free to do whatever it wants for iPads and MacBooks and chose USB-C because its own Lightning standard cannot offer the same charging and data transfer rates.

-Neither the EU not any other brand or manufacturer has a new “USB-D” like standard in the pipeline.

The whole idea behind forcing the USB-C I/O upon all consumer tech is the fact that cable CONNECTORS AND PORTS ARE 100% ARBITRARY and neither consumers nor cable/port technology gets more advanced if brands are free to shape the ports and connectors as they wish.

Please explain to us how a future “USB-D” would benefit from having different connectors and ports than the current USB-C standard.

How does a new connector shape and port that’s different from those found in USB-C offer better data transfer and charging? How?

The internals will change and be upgraded. But the cable ends and ports won’t because there’s no reason.

Apple itself has opted for USB-C for its most powerful and expensive products.

Don’t you think Apple would have done “Super Lightning” or some other proprietary b.s. for MacBooks and iPads if it actually had something more innovative and superior compared to Lightning?

Let the EU stop the outdated madness that is proprietary USB 2.0(Lightning) on iPhones!
